have had some people telling me that i should be running c14 or c16 in my tapex....arnt those fuels for higher compression engines ?! i thought that c12 was for cp rations 15:1 and lower, does it handle high boost tho ? also i have a buddy that has a boss noss 60 hp shot on his 800 rev (2006) and he was wondering what should be in the fuel bottle, apparently its recommended to be c16, but wouldnt c12 be fine ?! just wondering....

I wouldnt run c12 or c16 unless your.running high hp race applications like 350 plus, how much boost you running and what compression?

You lose some bottom end on the apex with more octane. The most octane I run is av gas, around 100 octane. Most of the time I run 9.3:1 at 6000ft 50/50 av gas/premium up to 16lbs of boost. That averages out to around 95-96 octane. I would think you'd be fine with 100 octane up to 18lbs, but there are lots of variables.
There's a boost calculator on ty4stroke.com that you can put all your info into and will get you close.

50/50 c12 & 91 oct is all that is needed ,sometimes its nice to have a little extra oct when the snow is deep & you are working the sled hard thats when deto can creep up & bite you:face-icon-small-sho.

The boost calculator i have attached works well for determining your fuel requirements, you will need to know your compression ratio ( static and dynamic). It is an excel work sheet, you will need excel or a program like open office.org to use it. Once you play with it you will be able to determine the octane level versus boost versus altitude. Built by someone from Totally Yamaha, i have used it like many others and find it to be quite accurate.

wheres the best place to get a 45 gallon drum of C12 around the red deer area ? powersports ?

I know that walthealy in calgary sells it. c111 might be a better choice for you. its just a winter fuel made for the sleds. its a bit cheaper. look into it. the husky by the airport in calgary is the VP dealer. thats where walt healy would get thier fuel from.
