question about 08 XP

I just bought an Xp and was looking it over and was wandering if I didn't have a electric start on it can I remove the ring gear off the clutch or not,

Maybe I could put an older primery without ringgear on my 08?

Dealer says it works as a Harmonic Balancer & it has to stay on...ran mine all last year without, No Issues...Several riding buddies same thing.

I would say negative. It's not worth the weight you save IMO!

Its hard to belive that in this day of saving a nickel on every part. That skidoo would put a starter ring on every sled even if it dont have e-start. I mean that ring dont look like its no cheep part. But what do I know.

There was a post about this about a month ago,my self i would leave it on just like what was said why would they put all the money into it . I work for a dealer it is a balance ,it could take a crank just my two cents

had some warranty issues and the first thing BRP had the dealer certify was the ring was in place.. otherwise no warranty on the engine and primary clutch
