PRO-RMK -vs- XP ETEC 800 head to head

Here in idaho we have some spots with deep snow already and my buddy went with a group last saturday that had 2 pro's and 2 new etecs. He said the sleds were very close to each other climbing in the deep and really depended on the rider.

....I believe that is about the truest statement I have seen lately....MY thoughts, is that both sleds are going to be strong runners, and it will come down to personal "Feel" on which one is "Best"

....that being said, excited to see/ride both this winter....one will be in the garage next fall....

I'll ride my "POS" 08 xp one more year. Still the funniest sled I have ridden. And who knows, I know I won't climb as high as the new iron, and I MAY get a highmark once or twice....but I will always have a smile on my face!!!

The XP is an excellent sled - I'm certain the new owner of my '09 XP will have lots of fun... I'm equally certain I'll have fun on my new Poo! :face-icon-small-ton

i kept my xp, i had an Assault last year to go with my xp and now i have pro, the xp is a good climber but my assault would go around trees way better, i liked the balance of the polaris and the light weight of the xp, now i should have them both in the pro.

Ill tell ya how its gonna go down right now, ready?

The chassis is gonna be awesome and the motor is gonna suck. I know I know, shocking.

I cant wait for someone to throw a turbo m8 into the pro chassis, call it Catpoo of course.

Coming from a guy on a Nytro with no boost. I'm sure you would kill the Pro's as well.

Talking about the nytro..... its put in the "600cc" class with its 140hp. This doesn't seem fair to the pro-ride now:face-icon-small-ton

Rode with two pro rmk's and both would not idle right. They would idle at 2700 to 2900 rpm or not at all. Anyone else seen this? As far as the subject of this thread there was a new e tec there as well and it clearly went better than both rmk's. I dont own any of these two sleds so could care less of the out come, its just what was obvious to all ridding that day. All sleds had stock clutching, so maybe the pro had a poor set up?

Sounds like a highly scientific and calculated opinion....

Not terribly. Just my opinion based on polaris's track record over the last five years.

And for the record my nytro wouldnt come close to a pro, never said it would.

I would love to ride a pro just dont think i want to own one(jury is still out on this one of course).

All I can say is I have a Turbo Assault and a Pro and my Turbo won't get many miles on it this year. It's hard to put in perspective but after you get your 2.2 hrs on it, it just starts haulin. It does and it doesn't pull hard it's just wicked quick. I've been playin with clutching and can't wait to get on a long hard pull but so far it's made night and day diff. And I haven't rode with my buddy and his new e-tech he won't shut up about but I really think he will be eatin his own words come one of these weekends... And once we even out the hp diff. Im sure it will be lights out xp guys.. Cuz this sled ROCKS!!!

I got to ride with a different e-tec 154 today then I have been riding with. I will start by saying the new doo hand no miles when we left the truck. We had the good luck to be riding in 4 feet of fresh powder and no one else was around. I am way to fat I out weight the doo rider by 70 lbs. with that said the pro went a lot better than the doo in the soft snow and when we swapped sleds he ran off and left me. Again I will say his doo hand no miles and mine has 200. The e-tec ran out of gas 9 miles from the truck and I had a ¼ tank left. The doo has a lot of room for improvement the 16 stage break in chip will lean it out and change the timing curve. What I liked about the new doo is the steering it takea 0 effort to turn it the trail or in the soft snow, like having power steering. Either sled would be a good choice I hope I don’t have to buy some powder pro ski to make mine turn better. it still is pushing in the corners, the steering is manageable but it could be better.

I discovered today the upper bushing on the upper steering post was binding, took some emery cloth and worked it over what a difference that made. We road 80 miles today and I never had to fight the steering all day long. What a riot this sled is, never had a sled that you had to counter steer on the flat ground before.

Post link to same topic in doo talk forum

Can you post the link to the same topic you started in Doo Talk?

Thanks

ran with my brother(163 e-tec summit x) this week end., 2 feet of pow and a bit of groomed trail, both of us on breakin time and it is completely obvious the etec as more torque and power . On a 1km stretch race, the etec took more than 5 lenghts on me(163 pro rmk) and on several races! when we switched sled, OMG i can't believe how bad the rider forward position on this sled makes it **** to drive......smooth power curve, lot of torque(felt a bit like my old nytro) but that is it.....nothing more than a great (so far!) engine.....real ****ty frame design and too much rider forward it is like you are over the engine and that makes it a pain in the butt to lean the sled on it side(side hilling and counter steering the sled), also suspension wise the rear suspension on the etec was bottoming out a lot and front looks not too bad.
all over, i would like the etec(so far!) motor in the pro chassis! will report when out of breakin time for both sleds. so far hands down on the pro for manoeuvability and etec won the hp contest.

Highmark

So far I haven't seen one thread that helps the debate. I own a XP, but am a Polaris fan at heart. Ever since the Poo came out with the 900 turd, it has been playing catch up to CAT and DOO. This BS about they are about the same up hill has got to stop. There will be only one winner. I am truly rooting for the polaris to beat the XP, but after seeing what my XP would do the last few years I don't think it will happen. There wasn't a stock sled that could come close. I will find out this week at Cooke City though. Just my honest opinion. I will also agree that there is an unfair advantage to the XP for its large footprint.

Grimreaper... since "there wasn't a stock sled that could come close" to your XP.
