PRO-RMK -vs- XP ETEC 800 head to head

If ya see something you like, ya just got to have it. Facts and figures don't always guide your actions. I snowchecked a 2009 Assault when everyone started to realize the 800 sometimes had problems. Mine has been fine, no plans to sell it, ever. Just had to have it after seeing it in person at a Snowshow. Getting a left-over Apex MTX from 2008. Not the greatest sled, but gotta have it. It's just the way it is sometimes.

the only comparison that is important to me is which sled is the best bang for your buck, im not brand loyal in any way and have owned many of all the brands, now if skidoo e tec turns out to be a awesome sled then good, if polaris have a good chasis but is underpowered a bit then that is good too, and cat well they are still the same as the one i owned in 07 just gave it a bit more power and some susp upgrades. so if each sled was the same price then it would come down to which one i liked to ride better, but if the price differences were different then i would have to weigh out the good from the bad and choose which one was the best bang for my buck. i personally like the riding style of the xp, i own a tdragon right now, and also like how easy the cats sidehill. i think the xp will have the advantage this year because of the power and track size but if many have a problem riding them then it really doesnt matter. just my .02

Calling all keyboard jockeys!!!

Pick your own parameters or points of comparison, line your Pro-ride up with an ETEC 800, and report the results!!! It is that simple. I have friends that are always modifying their sleds and then immediately reporting that it "pulls harder, etc, etc" only to get smoked by all the sleds that are completely stock. I'll line my ETEC up with any Pro-Ride and if it is better in the areas that matter to me, I'll buy a 2012 Pro-Ride and ride it! Get on your sleds first and then report the results second! We can qualify what we can quantify!!!

As far as the power comments are concerned- I feel comfortable lining up at the bottom of a mountain with any other new sled and being first to the top, even without the factors of rider skill, track, etc. Are we so spoiled these days that only 148 hp is "underpowered?" I also feel comfortable saying I will line up against any other new stock mountain sled and be dead nuts even or ahead in a flat drag race. It just FEELS like more than 148. It's fast. It's got tons of low-end.

I've spent a lot of time on M-sleds and XP's and this chassis has them beat, period, in pretty much every aspect. So I guess I could care less how much power one like mine made in a room full of concrete and computers? I ride mine in the steep and deep :bump2:

I put a heavy construction back up alarm on my D8 cuz I was jealous of all the Doo's getting the reverse attention.

Ok I've looked at sleds, the skidoo and the Polaris, in the garage and I'm here to tell you that Polaris pro is way better. It looks faster; it has way more red on it, the windshield clearly indicates it ability to get up the hill farther. The narrow seat and well placed handle bars prove it will boon dock better. The Oil smells way better. But I can only get one Polaris sled side by side in a 7' wide trailer and I think the ski-doo might just get 2 of them. I have to say that there just isn't any comparison on all acount but maybe on the Polaris has it hands down.

What you don’t care if your sled beep in reverse? :face-icon-small-hap
The snow wasn’t that good but we did get a little comparison in.
The Pro won the drag race up a small hill, the new doo out climbed
To Pro in what little soft snow we had. Both sleds are brand new and not
Broke in yet. As far as mph we haven’t had a chance to check yet
But just guessing the MPG looked about the same.

The Pro pulles hard for only having 143 hp compaired to the 163 in the new Eteh,
Polaris has done a good job with the clutching. I know the etec has a chip that
needs to burn in but I was running with the ethonal chip in the Pro.
We did get another ride in yesterday, in the soft snow the Pro went straight over the hill and the doo had to make a slight side hill. The road race took 3 attempts to get a fair race and I’m going to claim a victory on the road race. The 2 sled topped out about the same, the Pro has a great bottom and midrange so it made it to the truck first. I have no worries about having less hp now. The Polaris is a blast to ride, the only problem I have is it will push the corners in the tight trees and the steering seems to be on the heave side in the trees too. The mpg’s are about the same both sleds took right at 5.3 gallons

Haha! That's funny, and I as well catch myself huffing the oil fumes as well sometimes.

The climb up the hill is interesting. Would be nice to know that the XP was set up right as far as the clutching. I think the XP's climb real good in my opinion. Push the corners in the trees? Throw that thing on it's side and getcha some! Good note on the mpg, I think these new CFI's do real well on fuel!

What if the Pro wasn't set up well as far as clutching, what then, bigger spread ? Assumptions, based on bias, big part of the problem.

so its ok with you if you only get 40 miles out of ten gallons of gas? I personally get sick of trying to find places to stash a 6 gallon gas can so that i can ride more than three hours at a time.

....been MANY times that we were lucky to get 35 miles outta a tank. and yeas, those are the BEST rides....

The XP did have to adjust his clicker to get his rpm's higher. The clutching on the stock pro works great, better the any set up i have seen on an XP. The xp's do climb great I had one and loved it and in my book they are or were the best all around mountain sled. When we get 4 foot of fluff and the pro can hang with and xp i will be very happy.
Throwing the pro around was and observation why should i have to throw the pro around at slow speeds I didn't have to throw the xp around that much. The Pro is a very good handling sled and a riot to ride, it could do a little better at slow speed in the tight trees and mybe it just in the set up.

The pro doesn’t handle any thing like an xp I would say it handles like a pro. The more I ride it the more I like it.

haha I wish I had a beep on my poo!
I know more than once I was getting tugged out from a stuck and hammered it in reverse :P

c'mon guy, switch thread if you can't answer this guy's questions.......why in the world are you questionning or arguing the legitimity of the thread, go else where if you can't answer or shut the fu$k up !!!!
on another note, i think not too many people had chances to lined up and race the two sled but it should be a pretty close war! my bros got a proride and an etec last week so tomorrow i should be able to report.

im thinking the pro riders might be a little scared to go up against a skidoo.maybe thats why we havent seen any highmark videos yet? :)
