Is the heat exchanger's that bad on the pro-rmk? Does anyone know if they make a aftermarket cooler for it? Just like to know when i go for a trail ride with the girlfriend on rides.

yes they suk I have to ride with the scratchers down even in the powder!! am going to install a center cooler from fastrax this summer and mabe a sno flap extension, or a powerclaw, they throw lots of chit out the back mabe with a longer flap it will get up on the coolers, mabe adding a RMK cooler also!! scared to turbo it the way it is

Doubled my girlfriend on mine all weekend and many others...no problems. Never seen high temps even when riding slow through the bumps. Ya you gotta run the scratchers ya it's good to dive off the trail here and there but this is a mountain sled.....

I agree, the flap change helps a bunch...i'll add the fastrax center cooler as well for next year. just a problem for the trail on the way to the riding areas, and only in some snow conditiions. usually 120-130 when i hit the better fluff/deep but i've seen 175 on the hardpack trail.

Do they make a snowflap like the Pro's without the ported holes? Part #?

I'm gonna add some Redline Water Wetter to mine this week. See if this helps.

The snow flap on the regular RMK is Non ported. Here is the part number 5438529-070 . Doesn't list a price on the website I checked on - said to call for a price but I'm sure it's not too bad since the PRO RMK flap is only $20.

Is the Assault set up the same as the Pro RMK? Is it really that bad, or can you usually solve the problem with the scratchers?

What worked on my Dragon was installing scratchers on the skis. IMO engine temperatures will be lower if the hyfax is cool, if the hyfax is hot it's like riding with the brake on.

umm, the pro rmks should have the deleted frt tunnel cooler, I thought the regular rmks had the frt coolers..if they dont on both you could add the frt tunnel cooler which should help the cooling..but I have never had an issue with either my 163 dragon or 163 pro with overheating by just running the scratchers..and going to my cabin is pretty much a 50 mile each way trail ride....and as said, the slp ski scratchers work very well as well......

If you run scratchers down you absolutely should not have a problem with overheating. I have run freshly groomed trails putting the first mark down with scratchers down and never seen over 130...

Installed my non-ported RMK snowflap today. It keeps the rear bumper and tail-light a lot cleaner, snow looks like its' doing what it's supposed to gets sucked under tunnel not out rear flap holes. As for temps I'm not to worried, on my Banshee quad I see as high as 240 on my gauge when climbing sand hill in the trees and never had engine problems. Just ride it don't worry too much.:face-icon-small-hap

I just put the scratcher's down as soon as I back it off the trailer.Just remember to lift them up before you back up or load on the trailer.

Rode with the wife last week in low fresh snow conditions and slow.Didn't have a problem with getting warm.Hit the gas hard and spin the track/get in some loose on the side of the trail.

This AM and it was frozen, with scratcher's down I was seeing 128-140.Runs a little hotter than my 08 Dragon 700 but nothing that I'm worried about.

When I buy a new sled for the wife I'll probably buy her a regular 600 with the front cooler as opposed to the Pro without one.She is just not too aggressive and doesn't want to spin the track too much.

Just put your scratchers down and all is well. I have yet to see where the smaller coolers has been an issue with the pro IF you run your scratchers down like they were designed for. If you are lazy and don't like bending over and putting them down, then the reg RMK is for you!

I have seen 195 going up some bumpy cow path, I wonder if thats why the crank bearings are failing on some of the motors and it runs 155 down the trail with 4 inch of fresh,, I wish I could see temps in the 120s I wonder if I have a bad thermostat??? and the ski scratchers make sence to me gonna get them now!!My turbo D-8T on boost rarely sees 140 I think its the powerclaw I have under it!! Does the flexable scratchers work was gonna try them on the skis and rails at the same time I have broken the rail ones twice!!Yes IM old and forget thay are down,,LOL

I think I will duct tape it closed to try it first,, I was actually thinking extension on the bottom, I watched as my son rode the sled and the snow goes out the back just below the flap

We've been working on a non ported flap for the RMK that will be available for next year.

Ours wont be $20, but will be a heavy duty lightweight option for the RMK.

I think you have something else going on. With 4 inches of fresh I would have no problem keeping it in the 123-130 range with scratchers down. Never tried it with them up on the trail and don't really care to.....that's why they're on there!!
