price to pay to ride in wyoming

I will add to that question Wyosno!

If the price goes up how likely are you to continue riding here in Wyoming? Or will you go else where?

Still less than a tank of fuel to get to the Mtn! But a bump none the less!

I want to know if tag prices really play a part in a person deciding where to ride?

Wyosno may be after more, but that is my question!

What is the price of the tags? The higher they go up the worse the trails get less marking and grooming. Would like to know how much of the tag money actually goes to snowmobiling? It might fund the fight for more wilderness in wy.:loco:

The reason the trails are getting worse with marking and grooming is lack of funds. Higher fuel prices contribute mainly to that, the cost per mile is up nearly 66% over what it was in 2004. And now the grooming is 23% less than it was in 2004.

As for the money 100% + goes to snowmobiling. The number of tags purchased determines the amount of money we get from the state gas tax. Last season a permit which you paid 25$ for is actually worth 40$ once the tax is added and dealer fee is paid.

As for percentage break down: 68% goes to grooming, 4% administration, 23% Field operations, 4.8% Safety and Enforcement.

I don't think the price will have ahuge impact on were people ride. For the price we pay for sleds gear etc alittle increaae in tag price won't b a big deal. Expecially if the money goes to improve trails and help protect our riding areas.

The price won't affect me, I save money by not licensing my sled in iowa. Do you know what the price is going to be?

I do know what is being purposed, but nothing is set in stone yet. The price hike will not happen until the 2013 season at the earliest!

Id rather pay a 1 time fee per sled like montana. I Dont mind paying but if it gets too high people just wont buy one.

You mean you don't support the Iowa trail system :face-icon-small-ton

I've got a college tuition wraped up in this sport, another $100 a year for 4 sleds, most of the drunks I ride with drop that at the bar on the first night.

The cost to groom has risen 66% since 2004 and now cost roughly $19.00 a mile to groom. Since 2004 there has been a 23% reduction in grooming miles across the state to help cut the cost. Even so last year a total of 78,458 miles were groomed here in Wyoming.

You pay $25.00 for your sticker that allows you to ride the trails and play in the powder. The state gas tax gives the trails program a percentage based on the number of stickers sold every year. So with the gas tax your sticker is worth roughly $40.00 for the year. Do the math and your sticker does not go very far!

Something has to be done in order to sustain the quality riding areas we have here in Wyoming. Unfortunately the price of a tag is going to have to rise. My question to all of you: Would $55.00 fee keep you from riding here in Wyoming? I would love to hear your thoughts on the issue!
