Pot is legal now?

i don't drink or smoke but i'd rather see anyone getting high than drinking. if you think pot is anywhere near in the same class of drug as alcohol you are sadly mistaken. you ever hear of someone having a black out from smoking, hear of thousands of peeps killed each year from smoking drivers?

might check the facts on that:

A study of patients in a shock-trauma unit who had been in traffic accidents revealed that 15 percent of those who had been driving a car or motorcycle had been smoking marijuana, and another 17 percent had both THC and alcohol in their blood.

In one study conducted in Memphis, TN, researchers found that, of 150 reckless drivers who were tested for drugs at the arrest scene, 33 percent tested positive for marijuana, and 12 percent tested positive for both marijuana and cocaine. Data also show that while smoking marijuana, people show the same lack of coordination on standard "drunk driver" tests as do people who have had too much to drink.

I would bet close to 33% of the total overall population smokes weed anyway.

You don't have to be for this law but what you cannot dispute is just because it is legal now, people who were not using pot before are somehow going to be waiting in lines to buy it and use it.

IE: people who were using before it was legal were going to use it REGARDLESS of it's leagalities and people who don't use are not going to care that it is NOW legal and become dopers.

I went to high school from 85-89. It was 20 times easier to buy pot than it was to buy alcohol. Still holds true today. Why is that?

I would not nor will I ever again get in a vehicle with someone who is drunk or drinking and in fact, wouldn't let them drive away.

I would have no problem getting into a vehicle with someone who has just sparked a J.

How many people are killed by drunk drivers each year? How many night club incidents, men beating women, disorderly people, etc are from alcohol use?

How many people are killed, beaten up, night club incidents, etc. from people who are only stoned? Unless you have ever used pot and know how it affects a person, then you can not answer this logically.

Easy there Ruffy--

It would be interesting to know how many additional people are going to smoke now because it is legal. I am sure there are some that didn't because it was illegal but I can't imagine too many.
I voted against because of impaired driving. I am well aware that it will likely not change ones driving habits--BUTTTTTTT, If you smoke and drive or drink and drive or shoot up and drive or huff and drive you potentially put myself and/or others lives in danger and that is not your right. Go ahead and do whatever you want but don't risk others lives with your choices.
I do hope that with the passing of the law it will come with some "power" in the courts so that if you harm someone because of your choices you spend some serious time thinking about it while cleaning our highways and making Prison Blue Jeans.

I just realized his name isn't plumnUts, but plumnets. My joke is funnier if viewed as plumnUts.. as in plum full of nuts.. blah.. joke fail.

Agreed, DWI, DUI's, are serious stuff. Though with you logic, why are you not in favor of making alcohol illegal? It seems many point out issues with weed, but then give alcohol a free pass?

Oh, and something for others. Weed is an upper, it increases someones mood. Alcohol on the other hand is a stimulant, it increases the mood someone already is in.

Meaning:
Angry man + alcohol = angrier man
Angry man + alcohol = dude eating a pizza lol

I would love to see the world smoke more pot than drink alcohol. Imagine what peace talks would be like with a peace pipe being passed around..

FACT: people DO NOT get into accidents after smoking weed.

FACT: people DO get into accidents after drinking alcohol.

FACT: nobody has ever had to get their stomach pumped after smoking too much weed.

FACT: the statistics are very high for people getting alcohol poisoning and getting their stomachs pumped. I bet this happens thousands of times a day across the nation.. if not thousands, hundreds at least.

FACT: no one dies from smoking weed
FACT: people have died from drinking too much alcohol.

Symptoms of Alcohol poisoning:
-Victim chokes on his or her own vomit.
-Breathing slows, becomes irregular, or stops.
-Heart beats irregularly or stops.
-Hypothermia (low body temperature).
-Hypoglycemia (too little blood sugar) leads to seizures.
-Untreated severe dehydration from vomiting can cause seizures, permanent brain damage, or death.

FACT: I can rip powder way harder on weed than on alcohol

just sayin

..

you know none of this is correct

alcohol is a depressant
delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is a mild depressant and hallucinogen

and regarding alcohol... what a shame it is even around, think how many people have been killed and trashed with the use... but the difference is you can have a drink without the intent of getting intoxicated; after working hard in the sun do you stop an smoke some weed to cool off? One thing I have learned you can't argue with people who smoke weed because like an alcoholic, they will offer every reason why they are better with it, they can control it, and it is not a problem...

The Federal Government's Household Survey on Drug Abuse, conducted annually, is the most commonly cited set of statistics on the prevalence of drug use. According to the latest surveys, cited by the DEA themselves, there are about 12.7 million people who have used some illegal drug in the last month and perhaps 30 to 40 million who have used some illegal drug within the last year. Of the 12.7 million who used illegal drugs in the last month, about 10 million are presumed to be casual drug users, and about 2.7 million are addicts.

33% is not even close 312.8 million people in the USA is the population

I'm hoping to gather some support for my next legal agenda from the snowmobiling community. I'm pushing to pass a bill banning all forms of milk....breast milk, goat milk, 2%, skim and of course whole milk. Studies have shown most if not all alcoholics used milk as a gateway to the hard stuff. If we stop this problem when our children are young we will never see another dui or alcohol related fatality. Not sure how this program will work but I'm sure it will solve our problems. Could be a new market for milk rehabilitation centers? Since prohibition works like a charm this should be an easy bill to gather support for.........after this passes we can start prosecuting parents who feed thier kids McDonalds leading to fat kids and high health care cost.

And if you and Fed's both only believe those figures then both of you need to join the real world.

BTW, the 33% is my real world observation and I'll bet is pretty damn close in the 18-44 age group. In fact, that's probably low.

someday you will understand the difference between subjective and objective data...

not so much these days.. I just don't give a sh*t if people smoke weed or not.. its their business and its hardly impairing to anyone who smokes it regularly.

not gonna lie tho, when it starts getting passed around on top of a snowy mountain. sometimes i do, sometimes i don't.. that's my business what i choose.

If you are getting high and trying to steal all my hot wieners from my muff pot.. we will have a problem :face-icon-small-con

I just don't understand the point of drinking or smoking or anything to change your mental state. To me I live a pretty good life and I enjoy being in control of what I'm doing and living in the real world where if things are going good I'm happy, and if they are going bad I'm sad/angry. I don't understand the point of trying to alter ones mood to make oneself feel better via drugs/alcohol. I'm not just saying that because I am some uptight biblethumper or anything else. I'm saying it because I've been there and tried more of these things than potentially many of you and after trying something once I don't get the point of doing it again.
Also, as you can imagine my friends used to do this stuff with me, but we are no longer friends because unlike me they couldn't pull themselves away from the allure of getting high or drunk constantly. They all dropped out of school and are now having fun getting high sitting in their mom and dad's houses. It is a damn shame.

and i don't get why people are so judgmental.. and better.. and feel the need to let every one know they "been there done that more than most"
pffft.. I got a birdy for you in my pocket

We are a physical body that reacts to chemical changes in our system. Eating strawberries an change / alter your mood. Going for a run can change / alter your mood. Watching funny video's on youtube can do the same.

Pick your poison as they say, and everything in moderation..

Oh, and some peoples mental state changes / mood changes when they get on their soap box and judge others.... as I said, pick your poison.
