Polaris signs Chris Brown

ha ha this is better than the thread in the yammi section lol,you guys are really reaching, pretty sure this has nothing to do with how a sled handles or what brand it is,but hey make up what ever you want to make you feel better about what you ride.:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-coo

I must of been living under a rock. Who's this Chris Brown guy?

This is Chris Brown, he was riding a cat back in the M-Series days.

Then he started riding some Yammerhammers :face-icon-small-win

<iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/W4CCgHmaaj8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Yamaha actually made a pretty big deal about their 2015 release with Chris riding them

Yammi has a section?????
Is the m1a1 abrams in that section too??

Dont let yer buddies see you riding the fat chick.
( its not fun after that )

This is a great move on polaris part, the whistler area is mainly dominated by ski-doo , there 20 doo to 1 polaris. Now this is because there is no polaris dealer in the area but 2 doo dealers 40 minutes either side of whistler. So polaris getting Chris on board setting him up with sleds for people to demo through his program is a good move for polaris. Ultimately polaris would need to get a dealer in the area , which I'm sure is on there radar.
Whistler is one of the top sledding markets in the world and polaris isn't in the game really, they're not dumb.

Good answer, I didn't realize Polaris was so dead out in Western Canada.

The real question is why. Why are mountain sleds still dominated by 2 strokes? Answer? Acceleration to the power band.

Sleds are horribly inefficient vehicle in terms of converting HP at the crank to torque and and transferring it to the snow. Our drive systems have a bunch of parasitic drag and a huge mass that must be rotated. Mountain riders are in and out of the throttle constantly, especially on technical terrain and the smooth 4 stroke power band does not lend itself to the on-demand snap that 99.99% of mountain riders want. 4 strokes produce more than enough power but there's a lag that must be learned. That lag, especially in a centrifugal clutch, hurts back shift performance. A sled that does not backshift well isn't going to sell well in the mountain segment.

Once the eggheads figure out a 4 stroke motor that delivers 2 stroke snap (or close enough) at no more than a moderate increase in weight without losing 4 stroke reliability? Then and only then will the 2 stroke be surpassed. (barring gummint ban on them beforehand, of course)

This is silly...4 stroke weight is the biggest con with reliability the biggest pro. Four strokes can match and outperform two strokes in all metrics. :face-icon-small-win

Sad to see Chris part ways with Yamaha but wish him well with polaris. Seemed like he had built quite a fleet of sick turbo'd yamaha's.

i dont ride fat chicks i ride sleds, just cause you dont have the skills it takes to ride one aint my prob:face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-hap.like i said make up whatever it takes to make you feel better about what you ride,i know i dont.
oh yah there is more poo guys in the yammi section these days than yammi guys hmmm wonder why, just thought i would come here & see why they wernt hanging here.:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-coo

You're my hero.

A multi cylinder 4 stroke has a lot of rotating mass... The gryoscopic effects of the engine play a huge role in sled handling character. Nypros, no matter how light you make them, will have significantly different handling character than the a PRO-800.

Also, to me... I don't care what brand of sled I ride... as long as it "fits" me well and does what I need it to do within my budget.

.

What if you turn that "lot of rotating mass" the opposite direction as the "lot of rotating mass" of the clutches and track? Couldn't the sled the. Have less gyroscopic effect compared to a traditional two stroke the spins the same direction as the track?

I think he means turn the motor sideways or even backwards.

Without considering how that would be done, you wouldn't want the engine sideways because changes in engine speed would affect sled balance side to side ( think about revving the motor in a muscle car ), and if it was just facing backwards it really wouldn't affect anything balance wise.

Spin a wheel on a hub in you're hands.
Spin two of them opposite directions,
Still resisting change of direction.

Comparing turbo'd sleds to non turbo'd sleds is like comparing turbo'd sleds to non turbo'd sleds. Advantage turbo.

However, there isn't a non-turbo'd Yamaha sled in the world that can go where I can on my Pro, and I'm not exactly a great rider. Hell, I can barely get it off the trailer by myself.

4 strokes, if coupled with a turbo and put together right are a match made in performance heaven, but that turbo is a big if.

I love that all the Yammis riders have mad skills... Always seems to revert to that when the truth about weight rears its ugly head.

like i said make up whatever it takes to make you feel better about what you ride,i know i dont.

Like when a guys claims mad skills.... LOL

Because the motors in our Pro's quit exploding a couple years ago. That left us with pretty much nothing to talk about since our sleds are now EPIC to ride right out of the box. Best selling sled in the world, 50 out of 52 at Jackson, no need to make up whatever here:face-icon-small-win

Most of us just found it funny when a bunch of sledders where jumping up and down over the Cat chassis, that even most Cat guys hate, loaded up with a heavy, underpowered four stroke. Bizzarre phenomenon, we just wanted to come check it out. I don't go back too often though cause I don't want to get any of that on me:first::kiss:
