Polaris signs Chris Brown

Chris Brown probably has been on the waiting list for some free Pros. Everyone wants to ride this chassis eh! Why not? Fun is fun but if more fun is out there it's silly to not have more fun.

As for those that think a 4 stroke is more dependable you have to compare apples to apples. Put out the same HP per cylinder-cc's-rpm and a 4 stroke engine becomes quite a technological marvel with basically no piston and ty or mag this and sintered, stretched, shrunk, special developed that. And, it's still heavier with special consideration for engine angle and placement to help offset gyro effect.
Then you have an engine that needs rebuild time on par with the Dragon CFI4 but at 3 or 4 times the cost.

If the 800's 2 strokes were still making 120 HP you still would get 10,000 miles between piston replacements. If they were triples with 140hp you would get 10000 miles intervals. If they were 4 cyl with 160hp you would get 10,000 mile intervals.
Where would the 2 stroke be today if the Japanese manufacturers hadn't decided over there annual tea ceremony to drop 4 strokes into MX bikes with emissions as a reason. I think they did it because they enjoy technical challenges and profit from higher prices not 'cause they couldn't develop the 2 stroke.

If Poo decides to drop in a 4 stroke it will be to enhance the ride (not just to use old castings). Something out side the box like a little turboed V twin so you can set it off to one side and keep the clutches inside the bulk head. Really skinny, really weight central.
It definitely won't be the inline 3 or 4 cyl. boat anchors Yamaha keeps giving you. Think about it. How hard to put 3 YZF 450's together even keeping the old inline design. Parts are one the shelf,,, almost.
You Yammy guys crack me up. You get all gaga over a borrowed chassis and then add weight to bring HP to weight on par.
I got an excavator to ride if I want the planted and power feel.

But, as I said above, be careful what you wish for.

this. look at the motocross market, 4 strokes are common place now. and for good reason, id much rather ride a 4 stroke bike. it takes 450cc to replace the 250cc 2 stroke and 250cc to replace a 125cc. as per manuals i think the 250 4 stroke pistons last about 15 hours. really? 15 hours thats not better than a 125, plus you have valves to adjust, and god help you if something breaks. 4 strokes arent cheap nor are they really more reliable. trust someone that used to race MX ALLL summer. plus oil changes ect. ill keep my 800 2 stroke

Oh man I hope the yammi guys don't read that! They get all nuts when you start talking about the truth behind the vipercat. Slow, heavy, overpriced but they say when you boost it, it is going to rule the mtns:face-icon-small-hap

I kinda doubt it...

Why would he move to the heavier sled?
The wieghing sleds off the tree joke.

Is this a sign poo has something 4 stroke for next year?
(Puke in my mouth). I hope thats not all they have.

Their XP Scrambler might be the birthing place for it . Have you noticed how that engine is mounted and how the clutches are stacked ? The whole thing is turned a quarter of a turn . Not to mention that thing rips some serious carnage . And than again maybe they just decided to make a good wheeler .

A multi cylinder 4 stroke has a lot of rotating mass... The gryoscopic effects of the engine play a huge role in sled handling character. Nypros, no matter how light you make them, will have significantly different handling character than the a PRO-800.

Also, to me... I don't care what brand of sled I ride... as long as it "fits" me well and does what I need it to do within my budget.

Xp scrambler isnt gonna win any HP wars.
Not that great for a 1000.
Polaris atv's are disposable.

Wow, someone mentions Chris Brown going to Poo and all of a sudden it's a which brand is best, then 4 stroke vs 2 stroke with some Yami guys telling everyone how days of end are coming for 2 strokes and finally we are at reliability of this and that.

Soooo...I'm going back to the Chris thing. I don't know him but I wonder why Polaris would want him. I know he's a good rider, I've seen the flics. But they already have a huge assortment of riders in all genres. Maybe they are just taking what Yamaha has away.

This is a great move on polaris part, the whistler area is mainly dominated by ski-doo , there 20 doo to 1 polaris. Now this is because there is no polaris dealer in the area but 2 doo dealers 40 minutes either side of whistler. So polaris getting Chris on board setting him up with sleds for people to demo through his program is a good move for polaris. Ultimately polaris would need to get a dealer in the area , which I'm sure is on there radar.
Whistler is one of the top sledding markets in the world and polaris isn't in the game really, they're not dumb.

I agree.

When was there ever an 800 2S that only made 120 HP? 10,000 miles!?
We're still talking mountain sleds right?

at 89HP the scrambler has more hp then anything else out there so ya it wins every hp war

Yeah definitely talking about snowmobile application.
89 hp for a 1000 cc that's pretty pathetic.
Honda is the only ATV that's not disposable.

Chris Brown is going to love riding a real mountain chassis.

I really wonder if this is a sign that Yamaha and Arctic cat are both pulling out of the game......

Thanks for the share SXViper!

I am really excited to be riding the new PRO and Assault RMK's this year!!!

We are based out of Whistler, BC but will be focusing on all of Western Canada. Riding clinics/avy courses and demo dates and locations to be announced in the next week.

Here's to a snowy and safe winter for everyone!
