Polaris signs Chris Brown

Why would he move to the heavier sled?
The wieghing sleds off the tree joke.

Is this a sign poo has something 4 stroke for next year?
(Puke in my mouth). I hope thats not all they have.

Polaris is buying up the last of the 2 stroke pro riders in a last ditch effort to try and prove a point that 4 strokes don't have place in the mtn sled sales. The 2 stroke business is gonna see resistance soon. You would realize this if you stop and think that every power sport is now 4stroke dominant except snowmobiles........

Motocross bikes have 4stroke engines in a 2stroke chassis and the snow bike riders don't complain about weight. Mountain snowmobiles now have a 4stroke engine in a 2stroke chassis and every 2smoke snowmobiler complains that its too heavy.....oh I can't wait until the "other 2" mfg's have a 4stroke engine that isn't based off of a diesel with the same HP as a moped.

The real question is why. Why are mountain sleds still dominated by 2 strokes? Answer? Acceleration to the power band.

Sleds are horribly inefficient vehicle in terms of converting HP at the crank to torque and and transferring it to the snow. Our drive systems have a bunch of parasitic drag and a huge mass that must be rotated. Mountain riders are in and out of the throttle constantly, especially on technical terrain and the smooth 4 stroke power band does not lend itself to the on-demand snap that 99.99% of mountain riders want. 4 strokes produce more than enough power but there's a lag that must be learned. That lag, especially in a centrifugal clutch, hurts back shift performance. A sled that does not backshift well isn't going to sell well in the mountain segment.

Once the eggheads figure out a 4 stroke motor that delivers 2 stroke snap (or close enough) at no more than a moderate increase in weight without losing 4 stroke reliability? Then and only then will the 2 stroke be surpassed. (barring gummint ban on them beforehand, of course)

Wrong. They made the PC chassis to fit a four stroke... A do everything chassis full of compromises.

Weight is the only issue separating a 4S from a 2S...if a 4S weighed 415# we wouldn't be having this discussion.....furthermore the 4S does everything very well it just requires more physical effort than a 2S.
