Polaris Pro RMK (Dump em boys)

So, I have been a loyal Polaris rider in everything Polaris makes. I'm done!!!

I bought the 07 Dragon, 08 dragon, 09 dragon and 7 motors in all. I purchased the 2011 RMK Pro in a last attempt to hang on as a loyal customer. I got 600 miles on this machine (totally stock) and the cylinder skirt broke and blew 3 holes thru the case! Totally fried the entire motor once this happens. Took it back to the dealer the day of the motor explosion and still no motor! It has been exactly 25 days and no sign nor even word from Polaris on my new motor. Apparently the motors are on back order???? Hmmmm, why would a brand new motor be on back order? Are they not producing the 2012 sleds as I type? Could they not pull a motor from production to send to the customer to get him running? Back to the question of "Motors on Back order". Since my sled has gone down, I have heard of 7 others in the last month, 4 of them, you guessed it, Cylinder skirts!

If you have the pro, SELL SELL SELL! If you hang onto it for next season you won’t get Jack for it. The motor issues will be too well known and not a soul will pay for them.

After 17 years of Proud and Loyal Polaris commitment, I AM DONE!!!

HEY POLARIS, KISS MY ARS!!! I, along with several others I know of are done supporting your crap!!!!!!!!!

WE WANT TO RIDE!!!!!
well, I am gonna blow your story out of the water..either you have a crappy dealer..or you are trolling..but I just checked, I can order crank, cases, pistons, cylinder and head from polaris right now..all are in stock and ready to ship(I dont have a longblock part number to check availability right now) but I can peice a motor togeather with in stock ready to ship from polaris parts...

2203717 1 KIT-CRANKSHAFT 1203753 Yes
2204322 2 KIT-PISTON 800LE Yes

I've been thinking hard about getting a new Pro, and talking to the local dealer (who is also my neighbor) he told me the 2011 engines had been much more reliable than the 2008-2010 engines. However, he admitted that he's had 4 2011 Pro's come in with blown engines during March, all with 800+ miles. That's just over 10% of the Pro's he sold with engine failures in one month. Is this a trend or a statistical anomaly? I guess I can go with the four year warranty and hope I get a good one...

But on the positive side around 90% of the Pro's he sold have had little if any problem.
honestly..go ride one..listen to the engine, feel the throttle, this motor runs different from the 08-10 cfi-4 motors, its much tighter, quieter, and vastly improved on mapping..I know there have been some failures(kinked oil lines, questionable bearings?) but, this is the same crank from the dragons, and bearing/crank issues were pretty rare especially when you consider the amount of greanaded top ends the dragons saw..and still very few bottom ends.........

AK,
Whats the deal with the cylinder? Why do you have to order 2 when it's a monoblock, and why is there an 81mm sdi/decomp (whats this?)

So far my pro has been a GREAT sled, and warrenty or not if the motor goes i'm sticking one of my 903's in it (they have been totally bullitproof) and I think a pro with 205 hp would be a hoot yeah, its 100% race gas, premix, carbs, and gets pistons every 750 miles put it would crap on every modern engine out there right now. And I can work on it myself, tune it, and have tons of spare parts sitting on the shelf.

that good info. thnx.......what was the oil consumption on yours? and did you add any for good luck?..

i figure mine is 40:1 at best from factory...some i'm adding from here on out.

Mine used less oil then the other 3 sleds in our group, I haven't premixed, I'm just riding the sled since there is 3 years of warranty left. I asked My dealer about turning the oil pump up a bit? They recommended not to, because Polaris has a set Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) In the engine computer. Changing the oil ratio will change the AFR and the sled wont run to is optimum performance.

parts checks for another sled, missed getting them off my dealer order when I copied it to here..sorry guys...

add oil to each tank of gas before you ride and you will have no problems, all my riding partners do and we all got 1000 plus miles with no problems. i have dumped probably 600 to 700 dollars in my cat with cutlers clutching and can, boysen reeds, the new 3.0 challenger extreme, and it still wont run with my stock pro.

I think he just put two in his cart.

dead on...someone asked me a price on an 11 cylinder the other day, I priced it out and didnt remove it, when I added all the engine parts for an 11 last night I forgot there was a cylinder on there already...so it registered 2 instead of 1...bottom line is polaris will authorize a peice togeather motor if they are out of stock of long blocks..so engines are available..either a really crappy dealer or a troll..............

My PRO has been awesome so far. But adding oil to the tank of gas slightly leans you out, so I won't be doing that. Injector mapping is based on total fluid volume and flow, not gas. So when you add oil to the tank of gas, you in effect lean the available gas that mixes with the air to combust at all levels of RPM as the injector is letting the same amount of fluid pass through it as before, there is just less gas in it to burn. It is not the best answer, although I do realize the PRO needs more lubrication then what it comes set up to produce. Adjust your oil injection instead.

Dang, looks like I don't know much about buying a sled. I should have severely trashed on what I wanted to buy on here to attempt to flood the used market rather than Snowcheck. D'oh!

Roger that on adding oil. I was told add 1/2 oz to every gallon of fuel. Pol underoils through the mid range. Also check for an air bubble in the oil line, if the bubble rolls to the upper side of the oil line it will cause a problem. TRUST ME on this one!!!

Keep that oil tank full and you will have less chance of developing air bubbles in oil lines.
I think he has a bad dealer cause when my sled was down for 2 months, my dealer did what he could to make sure I was happy. I rode the demo sled quite often.

Why is it the XP mafia always has time to muck around in the Pro threads?

You guys are like Democrats...not happy until you force everyone around you to think your way.

Ya it's SkiDoos fault! God dammm Ski-doo, ya and it's the Guy's that ride Skidoos and Cats that are to blame for all the POS engines Poo puts out. Damn you Doo.:violin:

Yah what's wrong with us? we should all be riding a sled (Doo) that folds up like an accordion if you hit a pine cone. If we bring our fat cousin along to ride on the back maybe we can get it to sidehill if he learns how to lean!!! Pound sand Fred, go back to the Doo forum

My Pro did the same thing. 800 miles and a broken cylinder skirt. When it broke my son was riding in deep powder. He got it stuck. As soon as he got unstuck and hit the throttle it blew. I think that maybe the water in the tunnel cooled off in the powder and hit the hot motor. Does any one think this way? I am looking into the Gizmo. Yes I am going to snow check a new pro and keep my 11 for back up. Four year warranty for me. I live 9 miles in the back country and can not be with out a sled.

Picked mine up today. 12 days total, nothing on backorder, bummer experience but considering whats going on in Japan right now, I've got it pretty good.

Thats what I am saying god damn Doo, making Poo put those POS engines in there sleds, just like those folding running boards those Pros have should give a coupon to Better Boards when you buy the Pro, god damn Doo again. Damn you Doo, and fack might as well blame Cat too while were at it.
