Polaris Pro RMK (Dump em boys)

Sounds like engine may be an issue. I am looking to get a rental and I've talked with 3 shops with a total of 16 sleds, and 4 sleds had a motor mount break, but no one reported a burn down and they all had 3000-3800 miles. Maybe we just need to ride it like a rental!

my riding buddy just got his pro back last week after 4 weeks waiting for a motor, and his dealer is one of the best in the nation. And oh yea i just spent 4 hours last night towing another one out of the back country with a blown crank. By my count that is the 7th different pro i know personally with motor issues. They just simply dont have enough motors to replace the broken ones. Too bad cause the pro is an awesome sled... polaris just needs a real motor...

I have a Poo with Doo pistons in it...ran good till the piston broke a skirt. Hmmmmmmmm, musta been cause its a Doo part?????

I call all this BS. I work at a GM dealership and see a glut of problems with GM's. That most likely is because "I work here". I have to ask with all the guys you ride with what is the percentage of brands? Truthfully.

They all have there issues in one way or another, and in a worn out saying...."grass is always greener on the other side" or in our case snow.

I lost my motor with 800 miles, I'm pretty sure I got one of the last short blocks before Polaris ran out of stock, Only took 11 days from blowing it up to running again.

I've been hearing the crank bearing where an early build problem? Polaris has since switched bearing manufactures and have corrected the problem on the new short blocks going out, the 2012's will all have these new bearing as well.

So, I have been a loyal Polaris rider in everything Polaris makes. I'm done!!!

I bought the 07 Dragon, 08 dragon, 09 dragon and 7 motors in all. I purchased the 2011 RMK Pro in a last attempt to hang on as a loyal customer. I got 600 miles on this machine (totally stock) and the cylinder skirt broke and blew 3 holes thru the case! Totally fried the entire motor once this happens. Took it back to the dealer the day of the motor explosion and still no motor! It has been exactly 25 days and no sign nor even word from Polaris on my new motor. Apparently the motors are on back order???? Hmmmm, why would a brand new motor be on back order? Are they not producing the 2012 sleds as I type? Could they not pull a motor from production to send to the customer to get him running? Back to the question of "Motors on Back order". Since my sled has gone down, I have heard of 7 others in the last month, 4 of them, you guessed it, Cylinder skirts!

If you have the pro, SELL SELL SELL! If you hang onto it for next season you won’t get Jack for it. The motor issues will be too well known and not a soul will pay for them.

After 17 years of Proud and Loyal Polaris commitment, I AM DONE!!!

HEY POLARIS, KISS MY ARS!!! I, along with several others I know of are done supporting your crap!!!!!!!!!

WE WANT TO RIDE!!!!!

I agree, you're a very smart man. Good for you for sticking to your guns. These things aren't worth anything thats for sure. Now I'm assuming you want to unload that piece of junk, so i'm willing to take it off your hands , (cheaply of course cause its junk) so you can move on and buy a good machine. I'm very sorry for the financial loss you're gonna suffer, but at least you'll be rid of it and will be able to ride. This could benefit us both cause I want a really undependable piece of junk and am more than willing to help you out. What kind of price are you thinking. Cdn or American $ .

I've been thinking hard about getting a new Pro, and talking to the local dealer (who is also my neighbor) he told me the 2011 engines had been much more reliable than the 2008-2010 engines. However, he admitted that he's had 4 2011 Pro's come in with blown engines during March, all with 800+ miles. That's just over 10% of the Pro's he sold with engine failures in one month. Is this a trend or a statistical anomaly? I guess I can go with the four year warranty and hope I get a good one...

But on the positive side around 90% of the Pro's he sold have had little if any problem.

That all depends on which side you choose to dwell on. You can either say odds are in your favor to be in the 90% group or you are one in ten to get a pos. We all like to think we are in the majority until we end up on a tow rope and then its right to the forums we go to tell the world what a pos we bought.

ttt

RU KIDDING ME I DONT CARE WHAT YEAR OF DRAGON U COMPARE IT TO THIS ISNT SAYIN MUCH THAT THEY R MORE DEPENDABLE THEN THE WORST MOTOR EVER MADE WOW WHAT A ACCOMPLISHMENT JEZZZ I WOULD BUY ONE HAHAHA NOT! POS!

if your dealer hasn't put you on either a demo sled, his personal sled, or at least a sled from last year that he has on his lot, you have bigger problems than polaris not putting a motor back in your sled, ie your dealer is a POS and not trying to get polaris to put a motor back in your sled. Let me know how much you want for your pos i'm starting a collection:loco:

My dealer has had zero pros come back for motor problems. Has had 4 800 E techs come back with blown motors, and zero cats come back. I've had no problems with my pro, gas and go, bone stock. I feel sorry for you but if you think your gonna get sympathy here, well there you go thinking again. You should go (Dump) your B.S. in the XP forums, Oh wait you guys are here anyways. Dump on, were used to it.

that good info. thnx.......what was the oil consumption on yours? and did you add any for good luck?..

i figure mine is 40:1 at best from factory...some i'm adding from here on out.

Will Polaris dust off the 700 motor again? Just sayin. :face-icon-small-sho

I would jump all over a '13 or '14 700 155" in the Pro-Chassis in a second. My 09 700 RMK is a little over 4500 miles and still going strong. Getting rebuilt & ported this summer just because.

SKIRT PROBLEMS ARE DEF AN ISSUE WITH THESE MACHINES....LOCAL GUY JUST GOT HIS BACK AFTER SAME EXACT ISSUE....34 DAYS LATER AND HE WAS RIDING AGAIN....SEEMS POLARIS DOESNT UNDERSTAND THE WORD TOLERANCE.

Are you talking about your local dealer Kurt's? What tolerance caused the skirt issur and what should the tolerance be?

I was talking to a guy the other day and he told me his house burned down. I couldn't believe it. I asked him "What was it made out of?" "Wood" he said. I replied "Oh my God, my house is made out of wood too!" Now I have to sell my house and go live in a concrete bunker. If there is one thing I have learned from my time on a snowmobile and from the forums. SNOWMOBILES BREAK ALL THE TIME! Go to any dealer sub-section and you will find a whole gamut of mechanical issues with sleds. Pick your poison. Is it frustrating? Hell yes! But the longer I am in this sport/hobby I have come to realize it is probably just a harsh reality.
