Polaris needs to step it up

how long is it gonna be before polaris puts a 4 stroke in a sled, i know they tried it with the fst or whatever that flatlander piece of crap was

the polaris fst is a very good sled. they are still being made and we sell alot of them. the fst engine is in 3 or 4 different models. 2012 m8 weighs 475 pounds.

I rode an FST Switchback around here in ND once that my friend owned. I could ride it fairly well and it was actually pretty neat to buzz around on that turbo in the trees around here, but my friend was alot smaller than I was so he couldnt handle it -- sold it and bought a Fusion :face-icon-small-con.....

I believe 100% that all manufacturers can and will have well performing 4 strokes and 4 stroke turbos in different sleds in the 520lb to 560lb range. Maybe they will offer the ability to access more horsepower for an additional fee as well? I believe Ford recently did this with their diesel trucks??? Pretty sure anyways. Yamaha going all 4 stroke and everyone else playing with 4 stroke technology over the last several years should have been an indicator to everyone in the sled industry. It will happen and it will work well. Takes time and money

Being a farmer Im gonna let you all in on a lil secret my gpa has been tellin me for years, "Horses come in different sizes!" Just cause the paper says its got more power dont be suprised when it doesn't knock your socks off!

whether or not they want to admit it, everyone knows when the ride a pro it just works, horsepower or no horsepower, i hope the cat is good personally, but all i see is an fx nytro, with wannabe polaris running boards, polaris headlights, PRO right in the name (i mean come on), and to continue the copying of sleds an all white "freeride" looking trail model.. the only thing original on it is the spindles

horsepower or no horsepower im stickin with my pro for another year or 2 until i see what comes out and how it performs...

Those spindles on the new cat look like they will jump right out and grab a stump or branch!

SO TO ALL OF THE PRO NAME HATERS CAT HAS HAD THE NAME SINCE IT STARTED AS THE RACING SERIES SLEDS IN 1972! AND CAT HAS BEEN USING IT EVER SINCE!

COME ON POLARIS GUYS WOULD YOU HAVE BOUGHT A RMK COLT, RXL RMK, CENTURION RMK, XL RMK GET THE POINT.
POLARIS USED THE NAME TO GET UNDER CATS SKIN AND TO SOUND WELL MORE PROfessional!:scared:

I managed to get a look at a forign spec sheet for the new cats, weight for the m800 was 213kg (~468lbs) and m1100t was 255kg (~561lbs) I'm hoping they have the power and handling their looking for. Cat made a great sled the last few years (im a pro convert).

Watching the videos has me worried though. The body language of the people riding the new cats reminds me scarily of watching xp's powder riding...the M was the furthest from the xp in handling characteristics and that was definaty the biggest plus I found in it. Well see when it comes out to us. I am in love with the pros ride and have no intention of ever going back to cat after the 3 motors I needed last season, but love to see everyone steppin it up. Hopefully it really is a step up.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned that. May be a good idea for flatlander short-track sleds but mountain sleds? For REAL? The extra drag thru the pow alone will be an issue! Seems they pulled a Doo where they just take what's best for the flatlander sleds and go with it across the board for their mountain segment! Time will tell I guess. I was really hoping for more as I prefer the handling of the M8 over my Pro but there's no way I'm swapping now! New shocks here I come!

Have FUN!

Agreed. There is plenty of time. I've been on cats since I could remember but it'll be a pro next year. My dealer better get a demo ride soon or my snowcheck money will go to Polaris. I could care less about highmarking so if it doesn't handle like a pro in the steep tight trees or even doesn't handle like an M I'll be all over the pro.want more power throw an aftermarket turbo on

I heard a rumor on the cat section that they wont even have demos. An to me it looks like a phazer with a sandrails spindles

Well I am one who rode a PRORMK and thought it was lacking in the power dept. I like the PRO, don't get me wrong, its a nice sled but its not a gamechanger for me. I ride a well set up XP and did not find myself doing anything better or going any higher on the PRO. Out of the box I do believe the PRO is set up better than an XP is out of the box. I am not brand loyal and when I buy a new sled it will be the one I feel most comfortable on, not necesarily the lightest or most powerful. I am looking forward to trying the new Cats.

Thats the key right there. A well setup xp, or my buddy has a well setup 2010 cat with slp pipe. The box stock pro with who knows if the hp is 5 less or 20 less runs right with or in the cats case the pro throws higher marks everytime.

Just got off the phone with my uncle who is at the show, he said the cats look much better in person than the photos

Did you ask your uncle how many drinks he had? J/K lol.

I like the body look.... just can't get over those spindles and A-arms!

I couldn't agree more...they look like they are workin to beat the band to side hill...I have an 08 XP, (Same thing on workin the side hills)...have ridden this years Pro Polaris twice and am VERY impressed :face-icon-small-hap.

power to weight

Its easy to compare horsepower only between models. personally I dont want to throw around an m1100 turbo which is most likely pushing 575lbs. thats 3.5 times what i weigh. 575/173=3.32lb/hp

now on a pro rmk 431/146hp= 2.95lb/hp.

Me, personally, id rather throw around less weight. significant power to weight ratio difference. if you say i cant prove that an m1100 wieghs that much, then maybe the kitty cat manufacturers could release the weight... just saying.
