Polaris needs to step it up

wouldn't be surprised to see Polaris take a legal stab at AC over the name...just like Facebook is doing to Apple over the Facetime app....names are all part of branding. Though they are giving quite the complement to Polaris by trying to use the same marketing techniques. Classy move AC....:face-icon-small-con

Kinda reminds me of the 2012 assault-doo freeride graphics

Not only did they steel the name, I heard from a reliable source that the Cat Mtn R&D has had a Pro, Polaris that is, with them testing in IP trying to get their "new creation" to ride as good as it. HP or not, I think the Pro will still shine. The cat looks heavy . Factory turbo, good one there. I will be interested to see how it goes

I'm on an M8 and I love it. Rode the Pro and it rocks as well. The new cats are pretty ****ly. They better have incredible handling because they look terrible.

snoman1174 said it all, its all about the three manufacturers pushing eachother to make the most rediculous mountain sled ever and right now i believe ski doo is going to be the next company to try and out do both the cat and polaris time will tell

Let me guess you ride a cat?

Id say you have a winner there.

Im a bit skeptical on trusting some 1100 Turbo with 177 HP that weights 80lbs more than a m1000 per a dealer thats at the snow show.. Thats what around 575 Dry... Add 60-65lbs of gas plus anti freeze and oil thats around 75lbs more. So 625 full of gas and oil without any snow caught in the tunnel and the skid. Turbo or not thats a heavy sled.

LOL, Cat has been using "Pro" name long before Polaris, they've had snopro's since the 80's, maybe even 70's..... So who stole the name ? Hmm

Rode a Poo Pro all weekend, amazing sled, if it only has 147hp they sure found a way to make it work very very well. Very impressive sled.

I am guessing the Cat 8 will weigh 455, and the 1100T will weigh 560. Until I see them on the hill they can have their one foot tall spindles, three foot long a arms, and 13-15k price tag. AND I BLEED GREEN at heart! Not disappointed in the buying my Pro... not yet. If they can put me to shame on the hill and burn as little gas and oil and have good belt life, maybe we'll talk.

The name could definitely be better but I wouldn't say they are copying they have had the snow pro for awhile. I think for Polaris to go after arctic cat for using pro climb is a waste of money and energy especially in todays economy put that money to making more HP.

If Arctic Cat had stepped it up 2 years ago (7 years of the same M-chassis) I don't think I would have bought a pro.
I like lightweight, nimble, quick. I need to be able to pull myself out when I'm buried in 4' of powder. I don't think a 600lb 4 stroke is anything I'd be interested in.

same here, have been waiting to see the 12. don't see anything there thats gonna get me to sell my pro. as i get older weight numbers mean a lot more to me than hp. a lighter sled equals me being able to ride the style i want longer. have been hanging on to my ac gear just in case:) guess i'll be buying new gear this summer!!!! am sooooo glad i didn't wait another season to buy my pro, thanks ac for not making me feel bad;) 4 stroke tanks don't interest me at all. at least now i know what i'll be riding next year.

um wait a second... hasn't cat been the sno pro for the last 20 years? pretty sure polaris tried to copy that one.

haha guess I should have read down. seems plenty of people have already pointed this fact out.

hp doesn't make the sled. and what with arctic cat calling there sled pro____. could have come up with a name that didn't use pro.

hard to believe they left the new 800 the same weight, seem like a lot of r&d for a sled with the same hp and weight numbers, at least they got rid of the diamond drive, now thats something to get excited about!!!

I would have no problem buying the new cat 800 if it outperforms the pro.
I would not snowcheck one, nor did I snowcheck a pro. Let them bring it to the public, we can ride it in the steep/deep and it will either be a stud or a dud.
It is too late in the season now to decide on it's deep powder handling/climbing ability, so by Jan/Feb of next year I might have one in my trailer.

First, let's get a motor and electronics that are reliable.

AC hasn't published weights because they are still scrambling with the final design of the prototype. They either have to guess - or hold off - they decided to hold off. If they COULD publish a weight, as in, they know what it will be, they WOULD. They can't. Yet.

Another clue - with no prototypes available for customer riders, yet, they are also pushing the timeline. Just pushing these over the line now. They might get it right, but the risk is higher. Doo, and now Poo, have recognized that putting proto's on the snow early is the greatest momentum builder for sales, spring and fall. If cat could, they would. They can't, yet.

All OEM's buy or trade for each other sleds to test against. Go in the back of TRF's Engineering doors, and you'll see all the latest from each OEM sitting outside. Same for the IP facility. Cat and Poo used to actually trade two racers halfway between TRF and Rosseau every fall. Just how the biz works...

as far as the name goes, I think your all forgetting about the ancient cat name"SNO-PRO" just my 2 cents....

Exactly. The zuke 800ho is a very nice motor, performance and durability. If the chassis works and they can deliver it reliably, they'll do well. But there 2012 sales won't be lite up early like the Pro, and before that, XP, were, in their times.

Cat guys are saying 545 dry weight on the M1100 turbo. Not bad but she's got some beef on er if that's the case.
