Polaris needs to step it up

its not about hp anymore.the pros look cool

Actually you are quite right. With the ability to turbo these with little to no effort they can be made in to more sled than 90% of us would use and that number is probably low. The ergonomics and handling would be the most important.

I rode Jared S's old 2005 975 IQ with a 50 hp shot of nos and where as it was a monster and would go straight up with little problem, it wouldn't hang in the trees very well. If you can get light weight, ride, and hp all together....then somebody will really have something. Being able to ride all day and not have to "muscle" the sled the entire time is worth more to me than being able to climb something and look over and see God in his lazyboy watching us mortals. Maybe I am wrong and I am in the minority and everyone wants to have 600hp in a sled. I've been wrong before :face-icon-small-hap

All season and I still haven't run into anyone in person, who's actually ridden a pro, who thinks it's underpowered compared to any other stock sled. Internet yes, real life no.

Cat sleds are weird looking. I think the factory 4-stroke turbo is a step in the right direction, however, with the higher weight it's not the sled for me. If I liked the M1000 idea and had to have a cat, however, that would probably be the way to go.

how long is it gonna be before polaris puts a 4 stroke in a sled, i know they tried it with the fst or whatever that flatlander piece of crap was

It is too late in the season now to decide on it's deep powder handling/climbing ability.

Maybe where you live :face-icon-small-win

Seriously though some of the deepest days I've had in CO/WY are now through May. Even had an 18" powder day on June 13th last season in the Snowies. Plenty of time for Cat to get these sleds on the snow and actually let their die hards ride them before they decide to buy. I know I would never jump into this new 1100T without riding it first.

Agreed. There is plenty of time. I've been on cats since I could remember but it'll be a pro next year. My dealer better get a demo ride soon or my snowcheck money will go to Polaris. I could care less about highmarking so if it doesn't handle like a pro in the steep tight trees or even doesn't handle like an M I'll be all over the pro.want more power throw an aftermarket turbo on

Just got done watching the release of the new arctic cats and polaris definately needs to step up the horsepower or the popularity of the pro is going to decline very quickly.

polaris pro rmk= 146 hp
arctic cat proclimb m 800= 160 hp
arctic cat proclimb m 1100 turbo= 177 hp

I'll take that bet.

2012 sales will exceed 2011 sales by 20% or better. (no I do not work for Poo in any capacity)

Maybe when it makes sense. When the sled is light enough despite the power increase to be a true mtn sled.

You're dead nuts right. If they can get them on the snow. If these are proto's, and customer rides are very limited, it tell you that they are rushing them to market, and will need more luck. The marketing braintrust in TuffRubberBalls needs to look brighter than they've been.

Well I am one who rode a PRORMK and thought it was lacking in the power dept. I like the PRO, don't get me wrong, its a nice sled but its not a gamechanger for me. I ride a well set up XP and did not find myself doing anything better or going any higher on the PRO. Out of the box I do believe the PRO is set up better than an XP is out of the box. I am not brand loyal and when I buy a new sled it will be the one I feel most comfortable on, not necesarily the lightest or most powerful. I am looking forward to trying the new Cats.

to all those defending 'sno pro':

Pretty sure AC swiped that name from a racing series back in the 70s. How very original.

On another note, I haven't seen so many people excited about something with pogo sticks on the side of it since the early 90s phazer project. They claim it was to get better airflow space, but isn't that a lot of extra fab metal (weight) to get a wee bit better breathing? Count just stick a snorkel on it. Seems to work for the Yamis. And from the front it looks like something stepped on it. Oh, and, um, are we counting the years of bankruptcy in the 50yrs? Somebody was claiming they were on top of the market the whole way through...

sno pro

Treemagnet03 is correct the sno pro name was taken from the racing class
in the 70s and we all remember the results of those ! well some of us :)
