Polaris Letter

I think the letter was a needed jester on polarises part...... Now lets see what they will do for the customer.

I'm impressed by the letter but the proof is in the puddin..

For those that think people are just whining, if that was true then why the letter.

Maybe I will buy another Polaris some day. After 5 in a row I was looking at Cat out of frustration.

O boy O boy O boy, A letter signed by the Vice Pres.,Not the Pres. What a slap in the face. Spudy you can buy my 800 for full retail and then be happy when it doesn't run. O thats right I traded that peice off BEFORE the price dropped. You guys are hoping they fix something spudy says is running great...I don't understand. also for sale (first to own cover) I am keeping my first to sell cover so I don't make this mistake again......

I am just wondering, if you got rid of your dragon and I understand your reasons for doing so, why do you still feel the need to comment about your long gone dragon. From what I can tell you are happy with your m8 and thats great but it seems you may be sorry that you got rid of it. At least thats how it looks when you keep posting about a sled you don't have anymore. Not trying to start anything but I would love to hear your reasoning.

I agree, why does someone that doesn't even have the sled anymore need to keep throwing shots in there? It's frustrating enough for the people with the issues.

And what the hell difference does it make if the President or Vice President signed the letter? It doesn't matter unless the issue addressed in the letter is resolved.

Reason is........I have 4 guys I ride with that IF one sled goes down it F's up EVERONE"s trip and I have to pull them out BECAUSE the guys on the Dragons don't trust there sleds pulling there own weight let alone a dead sled....And it pisses me off I got suckered and it cost me another TWO GRAND to by what I should of in the first place.....Sooo if I can keep someone else from making the same mistake I (and it sounds like you) did I am Happy. As far as missing my Dragon,,,,I miss it like a headache when its gone.... Also Its like shock therapy...I like to come back here to reassure myself I made the right decision:eek::eek::eek:and if there is a rebate for not getting what you payed for I want that also:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

I agree with the positive guys And to help the others out I'm offering $3000.00 for all 08 and 09 Polaris Assualt and 800 RMK's that the body is straight on. Take your hit and move on. Try a xp and see if that motor lasts , aren't they having issues to or maybe the Cat that never seems to be just what they say it is or heck try a yam, I don't care and isn't fu a little harsh

I'm also glad to see this letter posted here. I have not had any problems with my 08, but it makes me very nervous to go to far off the trail with it after reading about all the troubles. It will be interesting to see how Polaris deals with this issue, because they never did do anything about the old 800 cranks, and left the owners of the 900's to fend for themselves!!!

Well, there is a problem with something in the 800 cfi system. Just because not everyone has toasted something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I have an a/f gauge on mine and have been getting all the upgrades when they have had them. I then report what I am seeing to my dealer. They have been moving the lean spot all over the place, never really getting it out. Maybe associated with the electrical problems some have seen, or an injection thing. I am able to stay out of the lean spot watching my gauge, but I am sure I could manage to burn her down in a heartbeat with the readings I have seen. Be nice if they will fix them all!

Skibreeze..."You say stop whining and then you whine about your resale. I say F.U. and your resale. I didn't ask for new stuff every year, the last sled that I bought, I rode for 6 years. "

If you were to notice about the resale it was a bit of sarcasim (lighten up a bit you will live longer) I also rode my last sled for 6 years and have 10,000miles on it....

Secondly you say you have tore your motors down 3 times. Have you done it or has a dealer done it? After 3 times of repairing one of two things is happening..or both... the person taking it apart has no idea what they are doing or there is a bigger issue at hand that is getting overlooked in the repairs....I am not trying to be an a** here I am just trying to help.:)

I took offense at your earlier post about people constantly complaining and saying that "maybe there is a issue", there is no damn maybe about these issues. It also pisses me off when people dismiss other peoples problems, do you think that they are just making them up? I spent the earlier part of the season biting my tongue about my issues. I have been dealing with these issues since January and just in the last 2 weeks have been venting.

It also hasn't been 3 times that it has been torn down, it has been down every single weekend for 2 months. I have a BD box on it and have added so much fuel to the sled that I have wash 3/4 the way around the pistons and guess what, it would still manage to score the pistons. The dealer has been great and have more emails, texts, and phone calls with him than I have ever had with anyone. He is also very experienced in tuning sleds, so you can't blame anyone for lack of knowledge. The biggest issue is trying to find out why it burns down when you can't find the evidence of why. I have had dark plugs and tons of wash when ridden all day at low and mid throttle. I've done more freaking plug and wash checks than I ever did with all of my other sleds combined. I had to go buy a wideband o2 to find out why it could be sloppy rich still scoring because we knew that it was lean somewhere at some point. It was in intermittant issue and without the wideband, we would still be chasing that intermittant issue. Last weekend I was finally able to determine that it would sometimes go lean on steep slopes, but only when 1/2 tank or less. In addition to replacing the voltage regulator, the ECU that were faulty, now we are replacing the fuel pump assembly for the intermittant lean problem.

I actually give myself alot of credit for my mechanical skills as they have allowed me to ride every weekend (not each day of the w/e) this winter. Most guys would have been down for parts and waiting to get their sled back from the dealer. Instead I would tear it down and wetsand the scoring off the block and pistons and rebuild it. Then the whole time while riding, would be pulling exhasut valves off to see when the scoring would reappear. All of my riding buddies are amazed that I put up with all these issues for 1 and that I was actually able to ride with them for the last 2+ months instead of having the sled sit at the dealer waiting for them to fix it.

I don't think that some guys are *****ing enough, If I had a sled that was down for weeks at a time during the season, I'd be fuming mad and everyone would know about it. The fact that I'm sitting here on a sunday is that my 3rd block and I stand corrected, my 4th set of pistons are too trashed to ride with and parts are back ordered is the only reason that I'm *****ing today instead of riding.

Boy, nothing makes you guys happy, It would appear that they will have them fixed for next year,
It would APPEAR. Not unlike the "fix" and the "root of the problem" that Polaris claimed they found on the 550 Fan YEARS ago, when they blamed it on the oil. Years later, users are still getting fuk'ed by them.

I totally agree with you. People expect so many things out of manufactures now days. New chassis every 2 or 3 years, new motors, new this, new that.
NO! I expect a reliable sled. In fact, I wish they's STOP making redesigns to appease the trend whores and stick to basic formulas that WORK: XCR 800/700/Ultra motors, 700 RMK, 488 Fan, 600 RMK, etc.

I also totally agree, people b!tch and moan about everything. I also noticed that it is the same select people that do 90% of the complaining on here, i guess some people just need to complain to make themselves feel better. How sad.
See above. "I also noticed that it is the same select people that do 90% of the DEFENDING on here, i guess some people just need to"... justify the bad decision they made by buying an unreliable product w/chitty re-sale (no fault of the purchaser, BTW!) -and I fell into that same category, but I'm not going to defend my mistake. I just won't make that mistake again.

For those that think people are just whining, if that was true then why the letter.
As I said in my first post, Damage Control. Same thing I experienced with the 550...that was never fixed. Why WOULDN'T they put out a letter?? They're pretty much forced to say something in the interest of PR. That something surely isn't going to say, "We admit there is a problem, we don't know what's wrong and we won't stand behind our product". Come on people.

I took offense at your earlier post about people constantly complaining and saying that "maybe there is a issue", there is no damn maybe about these issues.
Not sure WHY anyone would argue or debate that; beyond the evidence that exists all around us, they admit to issues in the letter!

Unlike the "defenders" on this thread, I've been dealing w/this B.S. for 4 years now, so I can pretty much predict how things are going to go with this scenario too. For those that are up for calling me a "whinner" read this thread...the WHOLE thing. Read about all the lies and Urban legends that Polaris created, TOLD DEALERS TO TELL CUSTOMERS that have been proven totally false. Then come back and tell me about what a whinning, cry-baby I am...

Sorry but that's how it is. BTW, I own two Polaris sleds that I LOVE; a Storm and an Ultra. Both rock and roll, and do so w/nearly absurd reliability. So I am (or was) a "Polaris guy".

Geezus man... you sound like you've been through the exact same thing as I have w/the 550's, in the thread above. I did the piston/plug reading, got the WB02, EGT's, head temp measuring, fan inlet temp measure, fan outlet temp measure...

The end user shouldn't have to be doing this type of work. That is not what BUYING a product is all about.

I called Polaris last week and said they should go on this web site and read the post about some of the issues we are having with the 800 dragons. Mine has been in the shop now for 6 weeks, had a piston scoring scoring problem that also involved the cynlinders. Told them that if prople read this tey would not sno check or bur a 2010. Maybe they are listening, its about time. What about the shocks? I don't feel I'm whining, just want Polaris to really be the way out.

Mine is at the dealer for repair and waiting on backordered parts during the best riding season in years. Spring time, great snow conditions and a broke sled.

I just wanted to thank you for posting this for me. I feel everytime my sled or the other dragon goes down It totally F'd up everyones trip! I have little to no faith in the 800 cfi to get me out, and I will be damned if I walk 30 miles out cause my sled totally fails me... needless to say like you im about 90% positive that my next sled is gonna be a kitty after riding polaris since I was knee high
