Polaris Letter

polaris800letter.jpg

It's comforting to hear that they know "the root cause";). In 60 days winter is over, but at least it "sounds" like they are going to do something. Too bad it took so long. Hopefully they'll extend warranties for the '08 folks...thanks for posting the letter....

WHERE IS THE F'n LETTER ABOUT THE 550 FAN ENGINE??? And the root cause of that POS, and how are they going to "stand behind" THAT???

Marketing rhetoric/damage control, that letter is.

Yeah, the letter is pure BS put in play in an attempt appease 800 owners for a while (yeah right). Hopefully they'll at least recognize the 550 issues, which are just as bad...

Boy, nothing makes you guys happy, It would appear that they will have them fixed for next year, and in the mean time try to keep putting them back together to get guys through the season. Everybody *****es that they don't do enough R&D on their products, then when they say they are testing to make sure this IS the fix, it is just not soon enough for you guys.

I for one feel for the manufacturers, there is no way to make everyone happy and still make a buck. Not saying things haven't been handled poorly, but I mean if they come out with something new and it has a problem everyone complains that they released it too soon and didn't do enough R&D. Then if they don't release something totally new everyone complains about bng's and says they have been let down and are going to switch brands.

Anyone see a pattern here?

just my .02

I'll be as happy as a pig in **** if they fix the issues, but so far my sled has had a bad voltage reg., bad ECU, and bad fuel pickup assembly that caused an intermittant lean condition that smoked 3 blocks and 3 sets of pistons. Can you see why a letter just isn't enough for some people. My dealer has been great, but these repeated issues just suck.

I hear ya, I am just saying I read posts that people said they wanted a letter from Polaris to acknowledge there was a problem and it was going to be fixed, so here one finally is and people still complain. Granted people want them fixed, but they can't be until the testing is done and they are able to fix them, so a letter is a start isn't it? And if it is true it at least gives people an idea when they might be fixed. Like I sais it WAS handled poorly, but to get back on the right track, you have to start somewhere...

I totally agree with you. People expect so many things out of manufactures now days. New chassis every 2 or 3 years, new motors, new this, new that. Do any of these people knwo how much tooling and development cost a company. Snowmobiling isnt exaclty a high production industry that turns over huge amounts of product. I am sick and tired of hearing everyone b*tch and complain about everything. One thing I notice is that most of the posts that complain are flooded by the same people over and over again. I have a 09' Assault and have zero, I mean zero problems. I got the reflash and am happier then a pig in sh*t. I know 5 people first hand that have the 09 800's and zero problems, but one thing is consistant (they ride the their sleds hard and dont give them any mercy...and the dealer in the area hasnt had an issue either...)....one more thing ALL ARE AT 900 FEET ELEVATION and HAVE OVER 1000 MILES. Maybe there is a problem with some but people coming on here and whinning and complaining is not going to do anything for the resale everybody whines about (who buys a sled based on resale anyway???)...I have never owned a sled that I can ride so hard, handles so good in every condition and NOT have to worrry about breaking anything. I am sure people will be mad about this post but send your concerns to OBAMA maybe he will bail you out of the problems you are in....

P.S. If you are that pissed off about your sled go back to the Cat, Ski-Doo, or Yamaha you were on before and stop ruining my resale...

Guy13, you say that maybe there is a problem. You say stop whining and then you whine about your resale. I say F.U. and your resale. I didn't ask for new stuff every year, the last sled that I bought, I rode for 6 years.

Maybe there is a problem? I pulled my motor down every single weekend for the last 2 months so that I could ride. My 3rd block and 3rd set of pistons are so trashed, I only had 50 lbs of compression on it. I now can't ride as the rebuild kits are on backorder. So many motors have gone down that there are no more parts to fix all the burned down sleds. So ya, maybe there is a problem.

Oh ya, the red rep is from me.

Talking to a local dealer yesterday and he said they will be replacing all 800 engines in all 2007 and 2008 sleds with brand new 2010 spec motors on Polaris' buck no questions asked.

Wow, I just want to say I understand completely the frustration that some people might have with their $11,000.00 sled. That kind of money isn't growing on trees anywhere near where I live! When you pay a premium price, you expect to get premium results. Can't exactly say that is what we as owners have seen with any consistency. With that said it is also important to do everything we can to protect our investment. Running good fuel (90 plus octane, no ethanol), at least synthetic blend oils, isopropyl alcohol at 1-2 ounces per gallon of fuel religiously and the like may HELP to achieve positive results. Not saying that anyone here isn't doing this specifically, but, I know of some in my group that are not, and their results are not as good as those that do the above consistently. Got to be something to that in those cases. In the mean time, hopefully, our dealers and manufacturer do what is necessary to rectify not just the durability issues, but, also the lack of the promised power level of this engine.

Spudy, you must not be riding an 800 with problems. It is frustrating to the people having trouble when the R$D dept hasn't done their jobs, we just expect it each new year for our $11,000.

I also totally agree, people b!tch and moan about everything. Damned if you do and damned if you dont. Nothing new in 2010 people complain. And if something is new then people complain about that too. Its just a snowmobile, its a toy, its a frivilous purchase. It has a 60lb engine that makes 150+hp....what the heck do you expect? I know maybe these are more prone to failure than other brands, but seriously its not the end of the world...quitcherb!tchen already. And the sad fact is that no matter what the product is, be it a sled, a tv, a car, a toaster...WE are the 2nd R&D department, we always have been and we always will be, and that is why everything has a warranty. I am confident that poo will get it straightened out. Oh and BTW, I ride with 5, sometimes 6 800 poo's and nothing wrong yet.

I also noticed that it is the same select people that do 90% of the complaining on here, i guess some people just need to complain to make themselves feel better. How sad.

Do you feel better now!

I have to say that this letter is all I needed to see to make me happy. I have been lucky enough to not toast my motor but only because I skip the midrange and ride the crap out of it on the trail up, I can tell that it is lean and if I rode it steady at all in the mid it would go down. The rest of the sled I love and as long as Polaris stands behind it and I believe they will I will be very happy.:D

Skibreeze..."You say stop whining and then you whine about your resale. I say F.U. and your resale. I didn't ask for new stuff every year, the last sled that I bought, I rode for 6 years. "

If you were to notice about the resale it was a bit of sarcasim (lighten up a bit you will live longer) I also rode my last sled for 6 years and have 10,000miles on it....

Secondly you say you have tore your motors down 3 times. Have you done it or has a dealer done it? After 3 times of repairing one of two things is happening..or both... the person taking it apart has no idea what they are doing or there is a bigger issue at hand that is getting overlooked in the repairs....I am not trying to be an a** here I am just trying to help.:)

It may be the same guys complaining because like ski breeze they are constantly having issues:mad: Im 100% positive that you have never heard me complain about my 09 assault or the 08 dragon have you  Im afraid to ride just the two polaris' 09/ 08 cause one is gonna break down and we have to rely on the other to get us out psshhh RIGHT... they are absoulutly the biggest piles Ive owned!!! Man I had a 900 rmk that never came home on a rope that would run circles around this joke of a sled any day of the week and honestly wish I could get it back. How f'ed is that

I have taken 3 trips outwest 1000 mile drive to get there each time And every trip it get a rope ride and goes to a different dealer for emergency fixes.
96 miles voltage reg., ecu, and burnt wires
247 miles bad exhaust valve silinoid
360 miles more burnt wires/bad connections in ecu So I get a full wire harness
655 miles blow the walker evens rear shock
~ 800 miles burnt down the motor look very similar to skibreeze's motor
at dealer on my truck notice rear shock is flat again:mad::mad:

geez wonder why we are mad

rant over sorry guys finally vented :beer;
