Polaris denied my warranty claim on engine failure cause I moved my wiring harness

if you had a good dealer he would go to bat for you and get that covered. polaris is not that hard to work with. your dealer isnt doing anything to help your cause... find a new one.

Absolutely sucks azz, I feel your pain. Transfer your other 800 engine in the chassis and enjoy, that's if you trust it more.

I'm also getting tired of polaris, Well more so my dealer. They wanted to charge me $80 to take my flywheel off. I just went and bought the puller.

If you part it out I would be interested in the spindles!

Bull****! Pure bull**** comming from Poo. Do they think we are all just lemmings and will continue to take it?

$80 to pop a flywheel is robbery. 2 weeks ago, I put my engine in my truck, stopped by a local independent shop to have it pulled, they wouldn't take a dime.....Even for a clutch, the most I've ever paid is $10.......

This is 99% of a dealer issue. Can you tell us who your dealer is?? I agree Polaris is not real hard to work with.

i kinda had a simular problem i line-x'ed my tunnel they wouldnt warranty my sled because they said it got hot, this was last year. i toasted a piston and cylinder and case

once i tore it down late this december figured out it got lean thats why it burned down.

note- i marked my head/exhaust/springs where they connect not one seal and to top it off it was in the exact same spot i left it in

YUP YOU HEARD IT RIGHT. Polaris just denied warranty claim of a blown rod bearing which took out the crank cause they said I moved my wiring harness to the other side of the hood....so they "think" I had to have an aftermarket pipe on it... WHICH IS 100% BULLCRAP. I moved your crappy wiring harness Polaris when it was brand spanking new cause I didn't like your stupid OEM orientation of it. THAT's IT. So you pull out of your azz that I had an aftermarket pipe when I didn't?

So if you go in for warranty move your wiring harness back to stock or they will deny your warranty claim. TOTAL FVCKING BS.

I called customer service and they said my case is closed and said "ANY MODIFICATION TO YOUR MACHINE WE CAN DENY YOUR WARRANTY"

For anyone that buys a new Polaris, good luck to you. I'm done with this company and their BS customer service. I've been brand loyal for years. Polaris you can now F-off.

You know what sucks about this is when I had my 2010 update done my dealer told me Polaris "recommends" putting the stock pipe back on as they "may not" warranty the sled if it comes back in with that on. They didn't say to move the wiring back to the stock location if in fact you do take the SLP off. That should mean that they would've warrantied it if it burned down If I had done what they suggested. I left mine on and bought the PCV. I suspected they wouldn't have warrantied it anyhow. Sounds like I was right. What a buch of BS. They come out with a totally redesigned engine that has the chassis to die for and has everyone KINDA thinking maybe just maybe, but then you remember what you've been through and the new M8 looks almost as good. Not sure WTF now. Good luck whichever direction you go. Sorry about the problems. P.S. Polaris should've taken care of the problem regardless of pipe/ can combo. They're really reaching.

Sorry guys can't disclose my dealer info right now. Got to figure out what I'm going to do first. I have another member that will buy my sled out right for $4500. I'd do that first before parting out and busting my butt to take off parts and ship. Still up in the air on what I want to do. I will find a new dealer though... a cat dealer.

Sounds like a lot of guys are in the same boat as me though, and got denied warranty for unrelated stuff as well. Tough to soak up.

I'm going to start writing letters and talk with the regional manager and see if I get anywhere. Will let you know if I do...

Really? Still thinking you can get something from the dealer? But not from Polaris so blast away there?

Sorry, this is a dealer issue. I've had 3 different warranty claims denied by Polaris and the dealer called up and said "No you won't deny them" and bingo they were covered.

When ever you get tired of dealing with that dealer it would be nice to know who they are so that the rest of the people in your area can avoid them.

Well this is a new dealer for me this season. My dealer stopped selling Polaris this year. I talked to my old dealer today and they said this was BS and that they would have gotten that warrantied for me. I guess my new dealer plays mr nice guy to me. Sucks is I won't waste the rest of my season dealing with this cause I know it will take time. I need to ride damnit. I would have thought my 2 cool vent, powder valves, and slp big air would have been their reason for my warranty void (even though I don't see those as "engine mods" when the stock restriction on the shelf is still in place). Regardless, that was not even brought up to me when I talked to Polaris customer care on the phone. All they said over and over was "they think" I had an aftermarket pipe on prior cause I moved the wiring harness.

I need a new sled now so I'm probably gonna just sell this sled as is for $4500, take a huge F-ing loss, suck it up and buy a 2010 M8...and have a new warranty to go with it.

i would just start just working up that chain and trying to be the biggest pain in the A$$, now that you have been denied your vin is flagged for modification making any warranty junk extended or not. That makes taking it to another dealer rather pointless. Fight for a long block then sell the pos and hop ship.

Jordan,

I have a PM from you that proves your point about the pipe. When you supplied info to me about getting custom weights you said then that you had the stock pipe. Here is a paste of the first PM you sent me. I'd be glad to provide Polaris with the info and the date stamp from the SW private message. Carl's Cycle would vouch for my credibility. The bad bearing may have had something to do with your clutching issues.

[quoteCO 2.0]hey Ron, am thinking of trying some of your weights for my 09 D8. Right now I run 10-58's at 10K + ft and am pulling ~8100rpms on flats and 7950-8050 on pow climbs. Will see max rpms at 8200-8300 sometimes (prolly just unloaded track spin) Stock Pipe. Would I need even lighter weights though if I went with your weights?

Thanks

Nice Ron!!! Thanks for finding this. Will definitely help.

Would an updated edge or gen2 engine fit in the new dragon chassy without too much modding?

I thought about doing this but figure it would take a lot of R&D. My indydan built liberty 800 non-ves screams so it would be a strong engine for the IQ chassis...

if you sale it

let me know if you sale it because I just totaled my 08 and I have a good engine but can't afford a new sled
