Polaris 2017 Speculation Thread

Hey Knob... We will be in Revy this next week, you should bring your poo out... Can you 4 year old understand my grammar now!!

I'm hoping polaris and doo will throw in a little cash for some hooked on phonix for freddyw. I think my 4 year old nephew can spell better then he can. Every time I read a post from Freddy I don't know what's funnier, his horrible grammar or that skidoo that is shoved so far up his a$$ that he spits yellow. Don't think I've ever seen a guy more threatened by other brands that he has to trash everything out there.

Your last 58 replies has been how Polaris is done and may as well shut there doors and it's game over cuz this new doo is the shi%. Now Polaris has a factory turbo coming out and is a game changer? lmao

I'd be happy with them getting a grip on the ongoing QC issues;

Aluminum Drive shaft: Spline fit, bearing stub end fitment, glue interface tolerance. The ones I've disassembled to build my own have been all over the board. Even a novice machinist on manual equipment could get better results.

The electrical system: Quit outsourcing this to China! Or at least provide tighter specs. So you / we get a quality product back. The quality of the components and the quality of the build needs to be greatly improved to avoid the gremlins that result in soiling your reputation.

Carbon fiber: If you are going to call it Carbon Fiber then deliver Carbon Fiber! Not the Faux Chinese Carbon Fiber you have been using to date that is really fiberglass top coated with one layer of Carbon Fiber. I can and have bought the exact same Faux "Carbon Fiber" tube on E-bay for $10/ 6 ft. Why do you charge $300-400 for the same part? The cast aluminum lugs and assembly do not cost $150-200. Quit raping us! I can and have re-tubed the front structure with Titanium tube for under $100 and it is just as light as your Faux Carbon Fiber, without any concern of failure.

There are more but I'll leave it at that.

"The Devil is in the details" Iron those out and none of the other manufactures have a chance of catching up. Ignore the details and they will crucify you.

i am in the market for for a 16/17 axys or 17 summit, and hearing stuff like this scares me out of the polaris. i have had 2 xm summits, and while i know everything has its issues or can break, i never had to re-engineer anything on them to ride them without worrying. the wiring was great, the drive train was great. all that was necessary to do was bolt the bracing on the front suspension module in the belly (we all know that was a weak point). but other than that, it was jump on it and ride. no re-routing wire harnesses and filling connectors with grease to prevent electrical gremlins, no motor issues, no half-azzed drive train components.

i will say it again.....i know anything can break. but i have felt comfortable on my doo with the mindset of "if it breaks, its probably my fault." its also comforting reading the doo section and not seeing alot of drivetrain problems. most of them are riding induced problems.

also, i own a 2012 polaris pro for a backup/wife sled. it has low mileage, but i have not had any trouble with it. so im not a polaris hater. im not brand loyal. i have had good luck with the 1 polaris sled i have owned. but at this point i am torn between 2 things.....

1. buy a doo G4 that has completely new everything. be a guinea pig, but trust doo built a sled to the quality of their last generation.

2. buy an axys, re-engineer a few things in the garage for piece of mind (a-arms, wiring), pick thru it with a fine tooth comb, and hope the rest holds together. polaris die hards, dont take that as a knock at your precious poo....im just telling it like it is.

who wants to flip a coin for me?

Sounds like your leaning toward Doo. Probably a good choice with what you have stated. I will say I am riding my Axys stock with no reengineering of anything and love it. I have had no issues what so ever. I feel the chassis alone is worth the risk but I believe I could be happy on the new doo as well.

it is nice performing sled. one of my buddies has one, and we swapped sleds off and on one day. i saw immediate differences between the axys and xm (obviously). some of which i liked, some of which i didnt. thats another thing the polaris has on its side.........i have rode one, and for the most part liked it. most of my dislike is probably just not being comfortable on it due to it being new to me (and i didnt want to push it too hard and wreck someone else's sled haha). the new G4 doo on the other hand, i have not rode, touched, or even seen in person. its hard to buy something in that situation. so i may sound like im pulling for the doo, but at this point, its about a 50/50 toss up. id like to hear some ride reports from forum members......not the shponshored guys promoting doo's product.

I like how the steering post goes straight down toward you feet and is more on center with the balance point of the chassis. The Doo it goes over the motor and toward the front bumper. Not the center of mass. Once you get used to it you can begin to see the advantage of it. Doesn't need supper skinny ski stance or t-motion. Just handles great the way it is.

Now keep in mind you hear a lot about issues with them because the majority of users here own them. There are more Axys and Pro mountain sled owner on here than anything else. So its only natural that you will here about more of the issues. The majority of the guys I ride with have them and we as a collective group have experienced very few issues with these sleds.

Quick drive gear options!
This is a no brainer!
Couple diff belts sizes and a few gear options.
Seriously easy money for Polaris.

How about a shorter version track like the Freeride 137" for the flat lander guys but with a conventional tunnel? Or even a 146" with a 2.25 paddle but that retains the front cooler. A lot of us east of the Rocky Mountains have to ride groomed trails to be able to get into the deeper snow. The Switchback Assault is a nice sled but not a true crossover , it is more of a long track trail sled and the weight is too much.

Give us lightweight, big lug, conventional tunnel, more upright steering post but in a shorter track than a 155".
