matt did regress a little bet after the trach surgery... however they did take him off of the meds today and they did get him to wake back up eyes open and alert to what was going on... had hand signals going as far as thumbs up for yes flat hand for no. when the nurse asked him if he was in pain he tried to nod his head yes... but he was in a neck brace so it was a small nod. matt is hangin in there, he's going to make it, its just going to be a very long road. not much we can do now but keep praying, i believe it is definatley due to a higher power that he is still with us today.

How right you are. Definitely someone looking over him...It's too bad it takes a little pain or suffering (on someones part) to prove this fact. All seems to be on the right road to recovery, whether complete or not. From experience, I can tell you, when asked about the pain and nodding yes, he was also including the bed he has to sleep in. (Shhhh, I think they are left over medieval torture racks with a sheet draped over them...) I hate reading stories like this, but love the outpouring of support from all who post responses. It lets you know the world really is worth fighting for and the human spirit is incredibly strong. Me and mine are all pullin for, and with ya Matt. Signal if there's anything I can do...

Matt, you are a regular point of conversation and prayer and downright inspiration in the human spirit in our house. We all pray for you every day and want you back in full with your friends and family soon.
