This is from the Payette Avy Center - I get the updates by email. This is Matt, isn't it?
"Sunday afternoon a snowmobiler was caught, carried and seriously injured in a slide north of Brundage ski area near Duck Lake. The avalanche was triggered at 7600ft on a north facing aspect near the ridgeline of a 40 degree slope on the weak layer mentioned above. When the slide broke out a foot and a half to two feet deep the individual took a ride of 600ft back to the bottom of the slope incurring major trauma along the way. Friends quickly came to his aid, dug him out and contacted EMS. After a long evacuation through rough terrain Life Flight flew the individual to Boise. We wish him the best in his recovery. For other folks heading into the backcountry you should know that the slope triggered had numerous previous tracks on it up to 40 degrees. Adjacent slopes had been ridden with no consequences. The wind pillow at the top of the slope was all that remained untouched and it broke out as the rider almost crested over the top. Something to consider as you head into the mountains today."
