"Matt has made incredible progress over that last few days. He is awake off and on throughout the day but does tire easily. He is responding to those in his room with smiles, raised eyebrows and his typical fiesty ways. His doctors and Physical Therapist were impressed with his ability to throw and catch a ball. The doctors are slowly weaning him off the oxygen and hopefully they will be able to remove the trach apparatus soon. Thanks again for all of your prayers, I know they have made a very real difference in Matt's healing process. Please continue to think of and pray for him as he still faces as long road to full recovery."

This is all awesome news! I was down on Friday and he was sitting up in a chair/bed. He slept most of the time but did open his eyes and move around a little in the chair. I'm glad to hear he has improved even more since i was there! We all just need to keep praying for his health and recovery!!

To The Top!!!!!!!!

"Matt has had an eventful couple of days! On Tuesday night he evidently made the decision that he was gettting out of the hospital on way or another. He got his right leg up over the bed rail and managed to pull himself off onto the floor Fortunately he did not injure himself any further. They moved him to the Rehab unit in St Alphonsus and he is working very hard and responding amazingly well to the therepy."

New update!

Good morning everyone! Thanks for your continued support and prayer for Matt. Progress has been slow but steady but I see that as a good thing as I recall the doctor's words from early on: "bad things happen fast, good things happen slowly".

Matt is working hard eveyday with physical, occupational and speach therpy. We got to talk on the phone for the first time last night which really gave me peace that everything will be ok. Its one thing to have those present with him give you a positive report but it was amazing to hear his voice an know in my heart that he is going to come out of this. To hear him say "thanks for all the prayers" and "I love you dad" brought joy to my heart and tears to my eyes.

Jon is going to be posting some recent photo's of Matt on the site so keep an eye out for those!

This was posted by Mike this morning, for those not keeping an eye on the caringbridge website Matt had the trach taken out and is starting to eat solid foods (soft stuff) and is also talking. For those that were at the benefit dinner held in Orofino thanks again for everyone's support, the proceeds will really help Matt out! We all just need to keep praying and encouraging his improvement!!!
