As far as offering useful information. If I had any I would share it, as that is the purpose of this section of the forum. I feel like Dude deserves some thanks for posting up his riding area complete with photos and gps coordinates. Most people wouldn't share that small patch of snow with others if they did find it, but he did. So..... thanks dude.

I don't think anybody is being a dink to dude. I think we are all grateful for his post and pictures....makes us all jealous. Nothing wrong with some good humored fun, after all it is only mid November. Check back in 30 days and there will be dozens of posts with pictures, details, snow depths, watch out for this rock, etc, etc. But I would still expect the topics to get, well, off topic here and there. That is what makes it fun. If you're not into that, then just read the original post with the content your interested in. Plus, you can select only threads that meet your needs. If I were coming to snowest for only ride reports and snow conditions I wouldn't click on the following threads:

Garage heater
Day after thanksgiving
need a turkey
etc, etc

I would click on:

Photos and google map of mill hollow ride 11-18-10
utah weather websites
changing avalanche conditions.

Here is an idea of many of the thread titles you will see over the next 30 as the season really gets going:

Deep Pow Day
Ride Report 12-1210 with Pics
Tower Mountain ride pics
Epic Day on the Mountain
etc, etc.

Just be patient. Ride reports are going to start flowing in. This is actually waaay early.

Looking forward to your upcoming ride reports. Mine will be posted soon enough. I just need to get on the mountain first.:face-icon-small-ton

I will stick around for 13 more posts............for me it is like suffering from short term memory loss. Nothing in the Utah section can get to off course cause I only have 75 posts and its on to something new.
 
Now off to ride my trainer while watching the Jazz game. I'll check back in with y'all in about 3 hours.:face-icon-small-hap

Oh no!! But if you stopped posting there how would the rest of us learn all about your cabin, the wolves, your neighbors pictures of the fire, G.P., your hiking pictures, your knee, the extended family's dog's first "point", etc, etc, etc. Oh wait... maybe face book or even the SOCIAL GROUPS SECTION OF THIS FORUM. They could set up a Utah section.....
I GET IT!! Majority rules. No one is trying to take your little SW social group forum away from you. You can have it. And A FEW of you can keep acting like a holes from time to time. Not only did you slap Dude around in this thread a couple of you called him out and made fun of him in another titled, "which one of you guys was it". Reminds me of the cool kids picking on the new kid back in jr. high..... JR. HIGH!!!
Even though nothing will ever change here, a great point was made. Click on any other riding area and they post more relevant more helpful information about riding areas & trail snow reports in the "riding areas and trail/snow report section" than "Utah" does by far! If one of us was taking a trip to Boise you could log on to the Idaho section and get more helpful information. If someone from Boise comes here they might find that information if they want to filter through all the threads about Wolves and Garage Heaters. Or they might find some great photos of Sled Head and GP, with no helpful information about where to actually find the snow. Again, why I think face book might be a better place for you. That being said, again, the vocal majority rules. No one wants to change your social group thread enough to voice their concerns about it. Who would raise their opinion now after the treatment the cool kids have given Dude, in this thread and others.
Maybe we can get SW to create a special section in the Social groups forum and we could start talking about riding areas and snow conditions over there.
OK, let the cool kids and groupies fire away. I'm ready for and expecting the "beating". I would expect no less from what I have seen so far!
 
I sure hope Dude isn't that thin skinned. I really think he and then you jumped the gun on complaining about posting snow coordinates and conditions. Check the snotel sites up til tonight there's only been a couple feet of snow and because of that the great majority of us heven't been out yet.

You said earlier you haven't been on in a while or don't get on frequently? Too bad there's already been a few out of towners posting and asking about conditions, lodging, food, etc.. and all were replied very quickly and to the point. Maybe thats what your not understanding, if there's a particular place you'd like to know about, POST IT. You'll get the info you need. If that doesn't work for you, there are links to the snotel sites at the top of the utah page, there you can find depths and gps coordinates. I read the surrounding states threads and utah pretty much beats them all in good info and entertainment. Post up a question sometime, you'll be sure to get at least 1 "a hole" comment and bombarded with answers or options you're looking for.

I was a looker for a few years on this site before I joined and started posting. I felt bad getting so much great information and being entertained and not returning the favor. I've gotten more info on snow conditions from the cool crowd than anyone else especially GP and sledhead. And where the hell is Hatchers? He's the funniest one here. He has a way with words like no other.

No one on here is a true a hole, they usually get run out of here pretty quick. I think we all enjoy'd Dude's pictures and info but the delivery was pretty poor. He got kicked around a little, and it's too bad you can't hear the sarcasm in typing. But like I said earlier I don't think he has that thin of skin, that's why he posted up some more useful info tonight, good on him.

Stick it out a little longer into the season, lots of good info will be posted, and you can count on it taking a sharp left turn somewhere, that's the best part, it's better entertainment than tv, but it will get back on track sooner or later. Watch this post after the storm, there will be new pics and info.

Sledhead and GP, I hope to see lots of pics of your family weekend. (in the pics we can see how deep the snow is in that area)

No, your right. You did support me A LOT on my frozen driver situation. You even invited me to your cabin to hang sometime. You probably still don't know how much I appreciated your support while I was being bombarded by a holes that didn't believe my story or didn't like my "approach". It was honestly very hard for me to reply (to you) on this thread. I wouldn't have said anything to you had I not read the second thread making fun of dude.
Understand that I do "get it". Over the last year or two this section of the forum has changed. I stopped coming here because it didn't seem to have much useful information on where to find good snow. It has trended toward a social group forum. I didn't complain about it either...I just stopped coming here. I honestly think its awesome that you guys are so tight. I just don't have the time for that much "socializing". My job covers 4 states, I have 3 kids, I have other hobbies. It's not that I wouldn't like to be more social with everyone. I just usually don't have the time for it. I never Face Book either again I have other things to do.
My dog came into this fight not over the way the forum is being run, but over the way Dude was being treated. So when he started being treated badly I jumped in to support him. Just like you jumped in to support me a few years ago. I specifically tried to stay away from you as well, but you called me out for supporting dude, probably before you remembered who I was (not that that would have made any difference).
I am still grateful for your support you seem to be a cool guy. Maybe that's why I was so surprised to see what was said about Dude. That being said again I agree, Dude is a stand up guy. Even after he was being bagged on he was conciliatory and even started other new helpful threads.
Finally again you are right. I haven't contributed anything TO THE RIDING CONDITIONS of this forum. Again that is because I don't really come to that section anymore. And when I have I haven't felt like trying to hijack the current modus operandi. I have PLENTY of contributions to other sections and try to help other people out when I can.
I did not jump into this section to belittle people. I JUMPED INTO THIS SECTION TO SUPPORT SOMEONE THAT WAS BEING BELITTLED by other people in this section for his opinion. He was trying to be helpful and y'all started belittling him. I felt like that was something to stand up for. Even if I had to be vocal against someone I considered a friend.... I guess that (among other things) might make me "A DICK", but I can live with that.
I didn't specifically name anyone with my a hole comment, I just mentioned that some people were acting like such. For those people that thought my comments were directed specifically at them, it's highly possible that it was them that made that call about their actions.
But.... to everyone that was offended. My apologies. I did not log on here to belittle anyone. Just to support someone that was being belittled.
 
WOW... Lets all "take er easy" as the DUDE would say from the classic "The Big Labowski" or "hey man, sometime the bar eats you and sometimes you eat the bar" don't want any trouble if any of us with different opinions meet at the In and Out over on Radford (by the way that movie is where I hail my snowest name from :-)



Hey, I sure didn't mean to start all this negativity. And I don't feel to beaten up or belittled, I know most folks on here are just kidding around, and if your not, well you've got more issues then this thread issue. Like I said in my first post "just venting a little" You all have some good points. Arcteryx, I do appreciated you standing up for me, I knew I wasn't the only snowest memeber out there with my stated opinions of the direction this main thread has taken over the many years I've been a snowest member. But hey if the masses that do speak up want to leave it the way it is, and the masses that don't speak up with wanting to change things, then I guess the spoken masses win out. That's democracy right. And guys I do appreciate and understand that threads always get off in other directions. I just wish they would start in a direction that came closer to meeting the intentions of the main thread. Hence the idea for some sort of social "state specific" thread.



I know no one out there on snowest wants to meet me at the flag pole and try to beat me up... Or if you do, let me know :-) I guess I'll keep posting what I feel are good trail / snow reports with exact locations of my supper supper secret spots (the pics and locations in this post were not them, don't worry I know everyone knows where I rode and it's not that secret) When I need some reports I'll just sift through the post to try and find what I'm looking for. It's all cool on this end, and it is what it is... Come on guys. Cheers.

Thanks for the support. I was starting to think I was the only snowest member who felt the way I do. Was sort of shaking my head and wondering what I was missing. Anyway, thanks again...
