First off, I have tried to thoroughly search this question as best I can, and have not been able to find the info I need. So, sorry if I have missed an easy answer, and If anyone can lead me to threads that answer my questions please do. Here we go.
My friend has an 08 D8 and I have an 09 D8. Both have been updated, have the original update reflash, are basically stock except for vents and clutching. My friend's sled has run strong but has had some stumble and starting issues that have been mostly corrected with TPS adjustment. My sled has had temp issues like many, but runs strong.
Both of us are looking at getting a PC5, but most of the info we find is from people using them at lower elevations to solve stumbles, and some folks have even said they aren't using them because they ride at higher elevations. We live in Tahoe and ride 6-10,00ft. My warranty is running out in November and I am looking to ensure that my sled continues to run strong.
We are wondering if it makes sense for us to get the PC5 to protect against piston issues, improve longevity, maybe gain some horses, or should we put that money else where, like shocks or a can. All advice and input is appreciated, especially from any California or PNW riders with first hand experience. Are people seeing any real gains? What are others running?
Thanks for your time and any help provided.

Even if your sled runs strong, the polaris maps are way off! The PC5 maps from either dynotech/or slp are proven to work and add some hp. Great add on to this sled!!

Ride out west 6000ft to 10,000 ft as well as here in the flats. Yes it helps here a ton, but helps every elevation having the proper fuel!

Thanks again, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. If you don't mind me askin, what map are you using, SLP or Dynotech's? Have you noticed any gains out west, or any problems when it warms up in the spring?
thanks again!!
Any other California or west coast riders wannna chime in?

I'm running dyno tech's 157hp map on the original reflash for the updated motor. I didn't run the sled without the PC5 out west so its tough to put a number on the gains. However i was very happy with sleds overall performance. As for problems in the spring, none. Last trip it out it was 45+ and run great!

Your buddy with have to get a PC III, only 2009 and newer can have the PC V.

Go with PC for sure, best HP gain to money spend period.

Not true.

The determining factor is 2 or 4 injector, NOT PC-5 or PC-3, not necessarily the year of the sled.

PC-5's will work on the 2007 & 2008 whether it's a 600 or 700 or 800 as long as it's 4 injectors

The RUSH, 2009 SHIFT 136" 600 (2 injector), and the 2011 800 are all 2 injector

Remember last season when they tried plugging the PC-5 from a DRAGON 800 into the 2010 Rush 600 (2 Injector), the sled would NOT even start.

Hope this helps

Thanks KRAVEN!!! I appreciate the clarification on the that. The dragons are 4 injectors, so PC 5 will work correct?

PCV with CFI 800 4 injectors

The 09 800 CFI is a 4 injector and the PCV works great for tuning the fuel map and to set the TPS. I am running the 2010 update kit, Skinz Ultra-Q can with a SLP Big Air intake. The PCV & map is from Dynotech and is spot on for 0-6K elevation. Just let them know what flash and elevation and DTR hooks it up. Well worth the investment IMO.

Good luck tuning & riding:bump2:

2 injector, 4 injector

Thanks KRAVEN!!! I appreciate the clarification on the that. The dragons are 4 injectors, so PC 5 will work correct?

Yes correct, 4 injector up to and including 2010 on DRAGON 800's

The 2011 800 switched to the 2 injector, same as the 2010 & 2011 RUSH and same as the 2009 SHIFT 600 (136" was CFI, 2 injector)

IRRELEVANT FACTORS
ENGINE SIZE, CHASSIS, or YEAR, PC-3, PC-5, AUTO-TUNE, doesn't matter
600 or 700 or 800 or IQ, DRAGON, or RUSH

THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS
2 or 4 injector is the determining factor.

CFI -4 PC-3 = #943-411, PC-5=#19-007

2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 DRAGONS, IQ's 600, 700, 800

CFI-2 No PC-3 available, PC-5 only

2009 SHIFT 600, 136" (CFI-2)

2010 RUSH 600
2011 RUSH/PRO-RIDE 600 & 800
2011 DRAGON 800

I probably forgot something in the short list above, please remind me to revise if need be.

I hear you on the cruising range. We run into the same problem riding up in the U.P. late at night with stops closed as well.

We run short track D7's, usually at only 1200'. Haven't made it out West since 2005 with our 800 EDGE-X's.

I check the mileage on my and my bud's 2007 D7's at every stop, since it gets 10 m.p.g. +/- a little, it's always E-Z to calculate

Ran it for 2000+ miles without the PC-3, I had a real bad mid-range bog, like you hit the kill switch at 5000 R.P.M.it was real annoying trail riding it. The dealer insisted it was the fuel vapor separator, then t'stat, then, "well we don't know", "nobody else is having issues", yeah, right. After I told them I resolved it with the PC-3, they called me a month later and asked for the mapping info, lol.

Now 1900+/- miles with the PC-3, I RICHENED up my mid-range 7 %-10 % + and 5 %-10 % LEANER on top.

My mileage stayed about the same, and maybe improved the slightest bit, which if anything, you would think it should have got worse, go figure.

His sled, no PC-3, other than that they're the same, we're within pennies of one another at fill-ups, both being pretty heavy on the flipper.

My other bud plugged his exhaust hoses on his 2006 carbed 600, said mileage suffered drastically, however performance improved, go figure.

On mine and my bud's D7's, plugging the exhaust valves did not affect mileage at all.

Oops.
Thank goodness Kraven is here.

I thought I had seen a pc v is for 2009 and newer.

Kraven my mom in law is from houghton and I was there in august.

It is advertised as such, but that's a typo. It's either that or they have an inventory of PC-3's they need to sell................

If you check their website, they don't show a RUSH 2 injector PC-5, even though it's available.

We ride through Houghton -Hancock a lot, on our way up to Copper Harbor from Northern Wisconsin, it's kinda neat driving on the lower level (where they install the mats for winter time /sled traffic) of the car traffic bridge, crossing the big river.

I'm looking at buying a RZR-S and riding the sled trails up there, it's pretty scenic with the fall colors around this time of year.
