21 years active duty in the military, carry a gun most days both at work and during my time off. I fully agree with the right to carry as that is one of the reasons I serve my country so you may have the right. I have a concealed weapons permit but I dont carry when sledding for a few reasons. When you stop for lunch it is against the law to carry a firearm into an establishment that sells alcohol. I am not going to leave my XD out on the sled. So that means sitting outside while the group goes in for lunch, dont think so. Never had to worry about being attacked by the big cats we have in the Black Hills or the coyotes either. As for the guys that talk about going out and popping off a few rounds, I hope you are paying attention to what is behind that tree when you pull the trigger. If I am coming over the hill about the time you start shooting you will be thankful that I am not carrying mine as I will return fire. Twice it has happened when I have been out with our horses that someone was not paying attention and then did get the point when I put a few rounds close to them. There is a time and place for your gun, out in the back country I fully agree, but not in some of the trail areas...
Sorry for the long post but not following the rules or using good judgement can easily help them take this right away from us... Ride safe and be thankful we have the rights we do but dont abuse them.
