P-22 failure on 9R

Such a hater. The P22 just needs to be refined. You guys were probably bitching about the P85 years ago in your AOL chat room. My primary spring broke into 3 pieces today. Does that count as a P22 failure?
My brother has broken 3 primary springs on last years boost. ??‍♂️

No broken springs on his newer boost or 9R

I put a piece of rubber hose over the bit leaving just enough of the tip exposed to drill through. This way the operator has a "stop" to keep from punching beyond the material being drilled.

Good idea, I used a 3/16” bit. More work but a small bit won’t catch. I also only drilled holes at the 4 o’clock position. Rotating the clutch each time. Whatever you do, don’t hit the crank seal they are on back order.

thanks. heading down to see J.P. tomorrow . Ive probably switched out changed 80 or so springs working on sleds. sold all my p 85 tools.used to shim the buttons and spiders like Everret used to. Arctic cat and some skidoo but not the ski doo secondary. already took it apart as it is $52 not worried about warranty. for that price. just disappointed that in 30 years of riding this is my second broken spring. chit 200 miles really? so spark plugs a 10mm socket and spring in the pack.
Man those p85 spiders were a bitch even with the heat and the proper tools. dont miss that....or maybe i do????

Impact gun makes quick work on the P22. I've broken 2 springs. Just happens.

my spring just broke to. 200 miles. any of you find an aftermarket that holds up better?
After breaking the Polaris spring, I broke 2 EPI springs. Polaris and EPI springs were poorly formed and made a real mess out of the spider and cover. Replacements on backorder, so dealer gave me a Polaris 165/300 'boost' spring. It was tidy with only 5 revolutions providing more room at full squeeze, it was an improvement but wrong rates for me. Onto a readily available Speedwerx H5... dimensionally accurate, well formed and very little contact with the spider/cover. I wouldn't go back to Polaris or EPI. The Bikeman springs look decent and less $$ than Speedwerx, but I haven't tried em. Washers in the spring cups will help

lol i use impact on everything ...especially tightening.. and if it does not start straight thats what they are best at. run it in biitch.
ive also modded my electric tooth brush to use impact. my teeth have never been so clean. you all should do it
reminds me of the old 2 stroke 'implement' they kept behind the counter at Slack Alices back in the day...

2 broken primary springs in 450km. Just received a couple washers from fire and ice hopefully the next spring lasts longer

This is a bad idea. Hand tools and torque wrench only. Sleddrrs are too dumb to operate an impact nowadaze.
I'm with chadly on this. Dewault impact driver. You can let off the trigger. I leave them a fuzz loose and check with wrench. My torque wrench probably looks different than yours.

thanks west. picked one up today along with spring ready to rock with the impact. Chadley may stop buy as he cannot resist anything in yellow.... especially a power tool in yellow. i may let him hold it.20230309_125952 (2).jpg
