one more year for cat to test the supposed new sled

needs the frikkin sloppy suzie steering to be fixed #1 everyone can agree the cat's steering is the last in the game, can't we?
#2 seat more like a poo or a doo
#3 belt drive or fix the chaincases
#4 (not mandatory) new gauges.
Yup the steering is the worst of the three manufactures, easy to fix but still needs done.
I find the seat a little short other than that it works for me, more storage is always nice.
Mechanically I have not had chain case problems but I don't like how the oil tank is integrated. Too bulky and hard to work on. KISS
I like the gauges probably the best one out there until the Polaris new one.

Yeah, maybe this is what I meant about thr drive. The tank setup is just weird. PAIN every time you have to get to the chain.

The gauges DO work, but ya know. New and shiny or add in some more things, or make it LCD? The pidd and 7s are bitchin. 7s does cost alot but i personally would love the built in gps and sled buddy tracker.

I wish I could say but unfortunately I’ve agreed that I cannot publicly disclose anything. But I promise, it’ll be worth the wait.
It will make things interesting. Especially if there are angry Doo and Poo riders after this year that are ready to change brands. Luckily, I already forgot most of what I was told, lol. Probably why people tell me things that they probably aren't supposed to. :ROFLMAO:

Careful about saying you know something... others might get upset you won't share ;). Should be different if it makes it to production.

I don't really have any issues with the current gage, but if they included the Garmin Tread features (GPS, tracking, radio) I wouldn't be sad. Better steering components, 415lb or less, more power at elevation, intake that doesn't need sealing by it's users, a seat like the 2016 limited had with storage would be cool, and suspension components that will still handle a whooped out trail are on my list.

Lol. Some of it has already been mentioned. The biggest stuff at least.

While I agree on the Ride Command unit for Polaris, and I have it in my RZR, I don't ever use it for mapping. I run a tablet with Avenza and a few other apps on my RZR, and I run a tablet/NS1 on my sled using the same apps. I can alternate between the gauges and Avenza easily which is nice. Definitely has some bugs though, but overall I like it. Would be nice if Cat had something similar from the factory. Its a huge miss with Ride Command having to rely on their maps or the clunky manual map/track import functionality when so many maps are geospatial PDFs.

While there is always improvements that can be made, and we’re due for a new chassis, IMO the number one thing cat needs to fix is their marketing team or complete lack their of. I feel the cat sleds are as good as any sled on the snow(n/a to n/a), but they’re getting crushed in the marketing department especially on social media. This is where Polaris is crushing it. They know how to use social media better than any other brand. Just look at the recent letters from poo, they’re still building garbage engines after 20+ years of faulty 800s, yet people are still buying them left and right to be like they’re favorite “ambassadors” on faceyspace.

Eh not a valid engine thing for the 850 imo. It happened to a less extent with yammi rods being soft, soft rods is a problem in the YXZ too. A bad storm is happening this year with suppliers and raw materials and literally everything on the global market. The 800 motor was trash, 100% agree.
Fix the steering is still #1 for me. I think its goddamn ridiculous you pay 14-16,000 dollars for a machine that has that sort of slop built into it. The bushings are garbage, and the wannabe u-joint thing is just horrible.
They need to match the 850 cc trend, which is marketing, but both doo and poo are a NEW 850. Supposably better crank and everything. Skidoos oil flow is quite a work of art as long as lines dont clog. Very smart. Very expensive.
My cat is a 15 with 16 front end. I gain nothing from buying a 2022 except maybe shocks.

I did buy a polaris, 2021 khaos yet to be ridden. The weight and, yes, marketing got me. And my skidoo 850 torched its motor so kinda pissy bout doo right now to be honest. Kinda was bad designing and on me also though.

Your comments actually say a lot for cats marketing….

If you have a large group of idiots swayed by hype willing to keep running short life motors why not let those idiots be the other guys problem? They’re the same ones who want to blame you if they forgot to add oil….

I’m honestly loving cats marketing. If I want a new sled, I can buy one.
I don’t, so I learn from those that do and buy with a little r&d done by someone else.

I have lots of used sleds and love that their is now a demand for them and they are no longer disposable after five years.

Sales Volume has never gone to the highest quality product.

I do disagree with your comment in bold. My 16 is nowhere close to my 20 they are different sleds. The 20 is way easier to ride and far more capable. I can't think of a single situation where I said man I wish I had my 16 instead. The only thing I liked better was the all black color it did look good. This is one of AC marketing problems they look similar so they must be the same, and they most definitely are not.

i 100% agree. my 15 that was updated to a 16 was nothing compared to my 18, they may "look" the same but they are not the same.

if the marketing department had their **** together they would have advertised that these cat sleds are in fact a short tunnel to begin with.

I disagree with the whole “ tunnel chop” that the Polaris guys were doing for the last few years. Taking a grinder to a brand new sled shouldn’t be necessary. Cats been providing a short tunnel on the mountain line for years it’s just not properly shown through their advertising.

Measure them. Proof is in the tape measure.

Where the problem is, is that those idiots bring money. Money that would help a company like cat who has been struggling for years now. I’m sure even with big money textron behind cat now if they were selling more sleds textron would probably be more open to allowing them more freedom to push R&D on new products which we all benefit from.

Cat just needs to at least get the info out on the product. Look how many little advancements cat has come out with over the years that nobody besides us cat guys even know exist. Most of the “new” features on the matryx, which is the hottest sled on the market for 22, have been on cat for years. From the short tunnel that cat has had since 2009, short cooler and powder coated tunnel since at least ‘13, roller bearing primary since ‘17, to the little things like the magnetic tether cat had in ‘19. Cat also needs to stop letting poo scoop up all the riders with a following on social media. Cat screwed the pooch letting Caleb kesterke slip away a couple years ago. That would have been a good chance for them to get in the social media game.

I also don’t get why cat gets accused of being super heavy compared to poo AND doo when last I checked doo weighed every bit as much as cat if not a little more. I also don’t get why for some reason when it comes to cat if they have a bad year they never live it down. Look how many people still look down on cat because of the problems in 2012 while we all know it’s a completely different sled now, but the other brands have an off year or years in the case of poos engines, all is forgiven in no time.

Let’s not forget the poo 850 had issues with crank bearings from the get go, Well before the plandemic was a thing, so yes there is some validity lumping the 850 into the same category. That problem was even predicted prior to release by probably the biggest Polaris engine builder in the country and they still let it out to the public. I know every manufacturer has its off year, especially when releasing a new product, but poo has been having the same issues since there first 800 twin release in 2001. You would think at some point they would figure something out, but then again if they’re still selling sleds why bother. It’s always baffled me why they can build a very solid 700 but just can’t get a grasp on anything bigger.

That bigger bore is something Cat has worked on for years. There is a reason they use the laydown style engine and have reversed the cooling flow from previous models. I don't have all the details as to why AC has it working but they do. Look at the 800 Doo smaller bore longer stroke, the 860 BB Doo was just using Cat 800 pistons. The AC 800 is second to none for performance compared to any other 800. Hell they can hang with the 850 (N/A of coarse).

Again most of what is discussed as marketing issues is more about blind brand loyalty than marketing. I have no idea who Caleb whoever is and still wouldn’t if he was a cat promoter. I flat don’t care who is riding what. I care about what I see happening in person.

I’m sure the fact the cat engine weighs like 15 more lbs than the poo has something to do with cats reliability as well, but that’s a weight sacrifice I’m willing to make. Your last statement is also the reason I don’t get why everyone dogs on cat for not having an 850 just for the sake of having an 850.

too many people out there just look at 800 vs 850, 50 more cc is more power. they dont look at actual HP number and see how close they really are. you forget how many brochure readers and parking lot posers there are in the industry. its all marketing
