one more year for cat to test the supposed new sled

Lithiums aren't as stable as the lead acids with the temp swings. going from 2F to 140ish+ hood temps is CRAZY on any material. I'm suprised the engines even work with all the heating and cooling we do to them.

Well in that case I dont think I was on the same page as you with the body work. Sleds cant get much skinnier. The mountain axys and matryx are already skinny. bikes are limited by their handlebars, we have to stand outside the track. A-arms can be make skinnier (with some horrendous handling probably) but right now i think is quite a new level for snowmobiles. the last 2 gens of skidoos and polaris have been awesome.

I would be interested in a new cat if they 1) had less ****ty boards 2) fixed the wobbly 10 year old steering 3) if there was a dealer within 150 or less miles from me lol.

^the lithiums arent stable argument is played out. Ive been around a few, neveer seen an issue. Kinda thing you know is coming and address before hand, just like when you get your PWC out to send your family across the lake on. wheres their recoil? yes some folks up north live in horrid low temps and need the lead acid, why not make them convert to old tech instead the other 95% of mountain riders. Maybe they could add the recoil and rope. I have yet to see a bike not fire because it doesnt have lead acid battery. Cats e-start is horrible and needs a re-vamp. keep that tin hat synched up ?

Lithium battery performance has improved greatly, been in my street bike and dirt bikes for years with very few problems, less problems than the lead acid batteries they replaced, picked up a electric start Alpha in 2020 and installed a Lithium battery first thing, used for 2 years no issues, Lithium battery's are awesome

Dave what Lith battery did you get- ? I see that Earth X has a ETZ 14C low temp snowmobile battery that is designed for low temps

While I agree Lith batteries are great! But they truly suck in colder temps. Period. -15C and more they are slow to react and take quite a bit of "activating" for them to function properly.

https://shoraipower.com/batteries-c41 have them in everything and started my sled @ -30 in west yellow stone no problem, -40 or I had to tickle the start button once to wake it up and when I was finished loading sled it started @ -40 no problem, they take a short procedure in extreme cold but still work great

I should add, I dont buy the tiny battery for my sled, I bought the replacement, same physical size but weighs nothing compared to the lead acid

Truth be told. The Lith batteries we were dealing with were years ago now. Im sure they have gotten better now. The tech just keeps moving forward with leaps and bounds!

That being said, I am really looking forward to see what Cat comes out with. Im still in love with our 2019 Alpha(with our kit on it obviously)

Believe you’re on your own with that sound chickenstixx.

I used a Shorai LFX27A3-BS12 rated at 405 CCA in my 2020 alpha 165". It started at -19 F. I've had it for two years now.

Cinno
I have the same battery. It's in it's 3rd sled, is almost 10 years old and still going strong. With that kind of service, I'd buy another one.
