OK its almost feburary ,,,new info on the peaks track??

IMO the camo is the best all around track, sure the 5.1 might work in the fluff but you dont ride in fluff everyday, the camo just works good in any snow

I can understand the logic of the Peak working better on turbo sleds as it seems to move more snow than most other tracks. The extra track speed combined with the stiffness will certainly propel the machine faster and throw it up on top. But for the average, stockish sled I believe the cammo 2.5 is a better all around track. The Stock 5.1 seems to work relatively well in the pow but a little too soft for the set up snow.

Now if you really want to improve the performance, go with the 3" and destroy them all. Unreal performance in the deep stuff. Wow!

I hope those of you taking the chance on it have a much better experience than I did. 600 miles on a stock engine and the track is destroyed and I never felt it performed better as it 'broke in'.

Save the money and communicate with fbomb :)

Peak

I agree with this also, rode mine a couple of times stock with the peak track comparing them to the 5.1 and it held its own but not much better on a stocker. Then I got boost and it does do much better with more HP.

Sledstew, Kelsey... Good point... I'm running mine with boost too and maybe that's why I feel it's working so well for me when others are feeling it doesn't?? I've been paying attention to my trenches after these threads have been coming out and I don't know if it's the snow we ride or the boost but I really haven't felt like this track wants to trench!! The stock track was just folding over under the boost and doing me no good! This track is holding up to the abuse and performing NICELY!

maybe a high HP track butt not the best pow track for stockers?? I dunno, I just know with my set up I have LOVED mine!!

Didn't you send yours back to Comoplast? How'd that work out?

Can you elaborate on what happened to your Peak? Were the outer stiff lugs breaking? I have only looked at 2 used Peaks....one with under 200 miles and one with under 100 and both have the outer lugs breaking about half way up.
It throws a roost like the A20 in the hillclimb position which tells a story about how it is contacting the snow....and is confirmed by most of the users that its trenches more than most in the fluff but works god in setup snow. Not sure getting the best of both worlds is possible.

I rode with a 2012 Yami ntro with the factory 180 turbo. They have the accent right which is a smaller peak? Anyway, with under 200 miles on the sled it was missing more of the outside lugs on it that it still had left! And no, it wasn't due to lack of snow ect... They just pain peeled off.

Today I was told that all of the damage on my track was due to abuse and they could not warranty it. I'm not surprised or bitter with that information. I definitly put my sleds in some akward situations and the track frequently gets spun on trees, branches, and stumps. I also am not one to settle for getting stuck. I have found, especially with the pro rmk, that with some serious aggression and shaking of the sled, it will come out of a lot of situations that could be preceived as stuck. I am curious how the track will perform on my sled now that I have 200 horsepower to turn it. It might a great track this spring once the temps start going up and our snow has more density to it.

mh, I do agree with everything you've said, however, for the riding we do, the Peak offers nothing over the stock track and imho, actually hinders my sled in deep powder vs the stock 5.1. I played with numerous suspension setups and friends with the same sled and 5.1 track would climb higher and faster than my Peak-equipped sled. I believe the Peak will become known as the best "all season tire" for mountain sleds. I don't think it will truly excel in one specific area, but rather, it will be a great choice for people who ride a variety of conditions. We tend to only ride powder and will skip on rides if the snow is too settled. We also don't do any spring riding. So, for me, I'm looking for the best powder track. So far, that appears to be the 3" C.E., imho.

I agree three inch is the way to go. And the stock track works very well in the powder. But I never want anything but a 3 inch again the thing is crazy in the deep stuff. I would like to do Carl's 900 and a three inch on a 13

There are SO many variables when you are talking about trenching... clutching, suspension setup (even with the same skid), speed, rider skilll etc etc

The Peaks tracks DO require more break-in than most.

I've ridden the Peaks on a PRO and loved it in the deep stuff... but to be fair, that track had over 1500 miles on it.

I've not been able to get out on my sled yet this season because of lack of snow or work situations... My Peaks is sitting in the garage and I'm waiting for the opportunity to compare it.

In these recent "dumps" that have been blessing certain areas (not mine) around the west with excellent dry/light "blower" powder... the stock track excels in this type of snow. A stiff, non-broken-in replacement would be definitely at a disadvantage in this snow.

If you are looking for a track that does everything better than any other track(s) out there... It does not exist....

Pray for some good snow for me and some time off work... PLEASE!!

.

I can break it in for you? Send me the track and i will pay for shipping. it would be a win win
