Nytro powderlites DIES WHEN HOT

I plumbed everything according to Daves instructions the only thing I did different was mount the fuel reg over and above battery on the frame..

Doesnt the kit call for you to mount the fuel regulator right above/infront of the radiator, This does not seem like a good place to mount it. Alot of heat being put into the fuel system. This would help.

I have 4000 miles on my MCX rearmount and have not had this problem at all. Run both av gas and premium. This is a powderlites issue not a rear mount issue.

This is not a powderlites issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this a fuel and a elevation issue my issue was inadaquit venting to my rb3.

Is it a result of a poorly designed kit, bad instructions, cheep parts, not enough R&D before production??? (not a good job of copying) LMAO Other kits arn't having this prob......

I would disagree. There have been 3-4 peeps so far with mcx kits that have also had the problem. I am one of the them and mine was also installed by a dealer that has a decent reputation on installs. I have since added alot more venting then I previously had but havent had a good chance to test them out.

Here is what I've found...

Went riding on Sat. with alot of race fuel in the tank, about 5 gallons of 110 and 2 gallons of 91 no ethanol.

Rode all day long and NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER, even had some slow going where the sled got good and hot.

We were at about 8000 ft. elevation, and it was a beautiful and warm day.

Gonna try a bunch of vents and reroute the fuel line and some heat shield, and then slowly cut the race fuel mix down.

I think the issue is clear, guys runnin a bunch of race fuel, or at lower elevation aren't going to see this problem, I don't think it's the kit..

Of course environmental conditions will effect it also......

Who gives a chit if it's the kit, that's not what we're trying to figure out!

Is your fuel regulator mounted above/infront of the radiatorlike pictured below? Could the heat from the rad be vaporizing the fuel in the regulator, regulators made for liqiud dont like vapour? Not saying it is a **** kit, could just be where they get you to mount stuff. Tons of heat in that area.

I havent run any race fuel yet in my nytro but Ive only been runnin up too 13 or so #s ?? Even had to run ethannol a few weekends 6000-8000 ft.. No issues whatsoever.. 1300 km on the kit gas and go!!
The only ***** I had with the kit was the air intake hose and the boost controller,, a $100 dollar fix.
Theres six of us with turbos in our group, couple alpines, PL's, mcx,, they all have had there bugs.. The three PL kits have been gas and go and none of them were dealer installed etc..

?

That's what is buggin the chit out of me, some guys aren't havin any problems. strange unexplained phenomina

bad fuel??????

I know where I get my sled fuel, it is a special sled fuel only pump with 91 oct and no ethanol.

Maybe it really isnt what they say it is, gettin jacked at the station maybe?

Hopefully you guys figure it out,, troubleshooting can be a a pain foresure!!
One of the reasons I went for the PL rear mount was less heat issues compared to the front mount and fit and finish no hacking etc..

You have the MCX still right??

yup.

yesterday was a lot worse than usual & this time i had the entire headlight area vented. It was a very warm day. I can fix the problem by cruising at 1/4 throttle to get air flowing back there but it's annoying. I thought my RAD fan was busted but it was running yesterday.

I am going to look into wrapping the hoses and re-routing them.

I know for half the season my MCX ran like **** last year but after I waited weeks on end for a new map it came back to life running strong with a new EFI reflash but it sounds like that is not the case on yours.

wow still have not burried the hatchet eh????

Did you change your fuel filter?
