Nytro MTX sec clutch setting?

0 and 1, and get some help on the spring install. it will be a pain in the butt to get it on by yourself. lots more side pressure and preload. i did it by myself on one sled, using tape to hold the secondary closed. it was ghetto, but it worked. still a pain in the butt. ski

Doing it while the secondary is on the sled is much easier IMO. I snuck the belt behind the inner sheath and that kept it from opening up.

squeak was noticably less than the day before, but still had the squeak a little...day 2 yielded 200 more RPMs roughly 8200 with once over 8400

but is the belt slipping to create that noise? is it secondary slipping?

Did you ever find the reason for the squeaking? I noticed the same when I put the yellow spring in. What has me bothered is that the belt is now lower in the secondary than it was before, yet the belt is grabbing on the primary.

I did drop a bunch of primary weight but the squeaking I get is at idle. Did you happen to replace your belt at the same time the clutching changes were done? I think the belt I got is a little shorter than what I had before. Though that sounds too easy to me.

nope, never figured the squeak out...and no, original belt...so no other changes...weights are stock from dealer, so no changes there either...

sled ran well though, but who knows...might be going to different Helix, and some other fun stuff :)

ttt... still chasing the best combo... and season is starting...

I have thought about the secondary and maybe it is not releasing the belt all the way..

You know if dynamo joe is going to have a kit for us? Testing out different helixes can get expensive....

i bought a kit from ulmer racing, new supertips, new helix (one for high and one for low elevations), new primary and secondary springs. i'll be testing when the snow flies. ski

he is thinking along those paths, TTabs and I are giving him the HEAVY encouragement in that direciton...

in the mean time was thinking about just going with the adjustable helix...

hmmm, that is one way to do it!! have heard mixed reviews on teh supertips as they are thinner than stock and tend to wear stuff...

Give him some more encouragement from me.... if you don't mind.... His kits greatly improve the ride ability of the machine.... I think with the large torque numbers that this engine puts out, a properly setup secondary is key.. Especially for a stock HP nytro. ....

hmmmmmmmmmmm, first i have heard of this. i will measure the width of the stock arms and the supertips and get back with you. ski

I didn't mess with my clutching at all until after 800 miles since I kept gaining RPM for that long. Clutching before than will be frustrating as you won't be able to tell if it's the clutching or motor increasing the RPM's. It's also a good idea to swap out primary springs every 1,000 miles, it will make a difference.

tried that but the turbo just kept begging for more clutching!!!!!lol:D

Are you running the stock yami helix??? 39 degree with the shockwave you can not only adjust the angle but it is already cut to allow overdrive(with boost @ 16 lbs 47 with loaded weights works well (and secret sec spring):D

I have a dalton set of weight and a shockwave helix set @ 47 or so the supertip weights can take care of the rest of any issued faced...imho

Yes stock helix... very true about the shock wave... but I think from people that have those on stock sleds... the only run at one end of the spectrum... I am not to sure about that though..

My thoughts are that with the fat torque on the stock sled, that a multi-angle helix would offer much improved characteristics of the sled.. At low speeds, the machine has enough torque that I don't want it back shifting... it looses response. This is mostly for blipping the throttle trying to double bumps and little hills and such. Though... it could be that the belt is just slipping...:face-icon-small-con... or would just slip..

Though, at high rpms and higher track speeds, I do want lots of back shifting so that rpms stay constant in the sweet spot and not dog down...

Keep in mind my clutching IQ is low... so this could all be bs I am spewin..

I have ran a straight 47 and now I have a shockwave and its set about 47-48 so I think a staright 47 will work as well as anything and adjust your primary as needed. this is on turboed rx1 and nytro.

If you are looking for any multi helixes I have 5 different ones:cool: The only one I have had any success with is the reverse multi and that's only about as good as the straight 47-49 shock wave......02..:beer;

put them side by side with the stockers, the arms are thinner by just a little. but the bosses are the same. so the arm would still roll in the center of the roller, not sure if the theory of more wear could be proved or disproved. but i got em and i am using em. LOL!

Ok read this whole post. Just waiting for my 09 Nytro MTX to come in. Id like to have it clutched before i even take it for a little ride. Did you guys figure them out or should i just hold off for a kit from DJ or get one from somewhere else?

There's no point in clutching it 'til you get a few hundred miles on it, it's like chasing a moving target.
