Not Average Joe Boost review

Rode the 165 Boost today. To put in perspective I ride 50 times a year. Recovering turbo addict. Haven't had a boosted sled for 3 years and said I would never own one again. Turbo sleds are heavy and I hate turbo lag for the technical riding I do.
We had a foot of new snow over night and I would say we were riding in about 4 feet of untouched snow. The sled makes a lot of power. I would say it makes as much as my last turbo MPI 850 Doo. I think the average person who never has had a turbo is going to love this sled. Most people are going to think it's awesome. I'm willing to bet we will see a lot of wrecked ones because frankly I think it's too much power for 90% of people. It definitely makes more power than the Turbo Doo. This thing absolutely tears straight up hills holding track speed from bottom to top. However it has lag. It's not clutching. I have ridden enough sleds to know what turbo lag is. It definitely lags more than the Doo. Definitely not as crisp as a Doo. My personal take is I am not blown away by this sled. This sled has some of the main reasons why I quit doing turbos. The thing is a boat anchor. Reminds me of riding Doo. I had my last year 155 Pro with us and that sled is 10 times easier to ride and takes half the effort. I'd love to see a Turbo Poo on the scale because this thing feels heavier than a stock Doo. This sled rides very very heavy. I think really good riders are not going to like it. I will probably only break this sled out in 3 feet of fresh. It takes way too much effort to ride and the power is not enough to compensate for it. Again I think the majority of people on here are going to think its the greatest sled ever. However I think the NA will still be the best choice. I bet you'll see Burandt, Monroe, and Caleb riding NAs more than the turbos. Now if I could just get my Matryx Slash 155 Pro!
Think you would like a 155 Khaos boost better? It just seems like the 20-25lbs of added weight wouldn’t be THAT big of a crutch.

I’ve alway thought 163+ sleds are super lame to ride in comparison to 155s, but I would not say they feel heavy, or like boat anchors.

I appreciate your review only calling yourself an expert does sound pretty egotystical, true or not. Humble people are respected, great riders or not. Merry Christmas.
I think its fair for Chadly to call himself an expert, at the very least it gives an idea of how he rides. I think there’s plenty people here who would consider themselves “decent” riders and are nothing but meadow muffins… which is ok, BUT I would take their opinions, especially on things like handling, with a grain of salt.

I have actually never rode a Khaos. I'll be curious to try it. Watching Turcotte's Boost review last year, that thing looked a little rowdy for me. It looked like to flew out of the snow. I'm 42, I'd probably hurt myself ?

That doesn't have anything to do with his ability to ride. I have rode with him and he has skill. If you think otherwise then I would say your opinion doesn't mean much. I don't think people are bad riders because I don't get a long with them. ??‍♂️ And if I recall you were one of the few on here that dodged me when I tried to get you to ride with me when I was in McCall for a week. I'm sure the posts are still here... You and TurboTerry who loves talking about his wife's sled ? I can't wait for your expert opinion on the Polaris booster. I'm all ears.
It's still turboless terry and my wife's sled is here. Have not rode it. I know what you are saying because i also like a lighter feel. There is something about na that is hard to beat. People actually think burandt rides a turbo all the time. Bet you would be surprised. He actually thinks the same as i do. I always have a turbo and a na sled so i can swap with my wife and ride both. She had the doo turbo and hated it. So did i. Best motor in the world but boat anchor comes to mind. That is why i gave her boost to a buddy. Figured it might be front heavy for her and nothing else but my boost to swap her to. She says it is because I ride with him more. There might have been some of that. If i don't like mine i will sell it and get something else. Mine might feel heavy on dirt. We'll see when i get it.
Monroe can ride. That doesn't make him a good guide. Just makes him a good rider. Good guides don't make poor decisions. A lot of variables they are in charge of.
As far as expert opinions. I'll just give my opinion. Don't need to portray myself bigger than life. Take my opinion for what it is. Somebody else's opinion that you don't really know.

The 165 boost flys out of the snow also, you need way less throttle doing turn outs or tricks. Keep it full pin and back flips happen. Just need to stay on.

Wait what?

Never ridden a Khaos?

I think your sled opinions might be a couple years out of date. ?

I was pretty skeptical of the “idea” (Khaos, terrible graphics, wheelie like a doo) but in the wild stuff it really elevates the fun factor.

It just makes the sled feel lighter all the time even at just above engagement speeds.

If you ride a na vs a turbo in the same sled with nothing else different, you can feel the extra weight. Obviously they ride light when on the gas but you are not always on the gas in the trees.
155 is the best of both worlds imo. 165 just gives you longer to think or covers mistakes better. Definitely not as playful.

That accidental back flip in the first vid was off the charts, it looked like the sled didn’t like you and said see ya later [emoji23] Nothing like $20k rolling down the hill towards the trees!

Still hearing that fluttering exhaust sound. What’s up with that? It almost sounds like it dose it more right after you pin it, and not so much on the longer WOT pull.

Obviously it’s an absolute animal in those climbs, but curious what do you think of the slower more technical in the trees maneuvering?

Appreciate your honest review as well.
It Can’t all be burandt and Adams everything is awesome reviews need some truth out there. Enjoy both those guys and the content they put out but to never have mechanical, skid, track failure etc or a complaint is just not realistic.
Heck burandt just finally started posting stuck picts vids.

Thats my buddy's sled and him on it, I'm still waiting on mine. On the axys 850 he would go full out on that same line and pull back hard. On the boost matrix you need to just let off and only pull a bit.
I think his tether malfunctioned somewhere in there...

I've ridden Cody Monroe's and Burandt's. They make a bunch more power than stock. I agree with you. This guy's isn't running right. 900 is the way to go for sure if you don't point and shoot straight up hills.
When i spoke with carls last fall, the rep told me its only boring, slp head and valves cut, no porting or fuel map so it cant be that much gains.
