Republican Romney to suspend presidential campaign
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will suspend his campaign, a Republican Party source said on Thursday, a decision that would make Sen. John McCain the all-but-certain nominee of his party.
A Republican Party source said the former Massachusetts governor might make his suspension announcement in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday.
"Romney's run a good campaign and he can live to fight another day," said the source familiar with the situation, speaking on condition of anonymity. "He has a huge future in the party nationally."
Romney lost 14 of 21 states on Super Tuesday, the biggest day of presidential voting ahead of November's election, as Arizona Sen. McCain savored coast-to-coast wins and cemented his position as front-runner.

Hope so. Don't think McCain has a chance in HE!! of beating whomever the Demo's chose.
I was afraid that would happen. Not a McCain fan but definetely not a Hillary/Obama fan. Oh well - guess it is McCain in '08.
Never ever been a fan of McCain but he has the best chance against the Dems. Maybe cause he is so close to being one, I don't know, but I do know this, if we stand a chance at all in getting a Republican in office we need to unite and all stand behind him. Huckabee and Paul have no chance even if I/we like them better they still have no chance. As much as I don't care for McCain he has the best chance against clinton and obama. Best thing we can hope for with the Dems is obama and clinton get into a pissing contest and split their parties then maybe we can divide and conquer. The worst thing we can do is let the republican party get divided. McCain has the majority vote, again like many I don't care for him but the thought of clinton or obama in office makes me puke so i'll stand behind McCain if thats what it's gonna take. Sorry if this got long winded but I wanted to put in writting what we all already know.

Mccain is huge Pain in the A$$, the infamous 8, anti Bush, a pro Taxing SOB as far I am concerned! ( I am A Republican BTW) POW and all this will end with a Clinton/Mccain battle and possibly Huckabee as a VP with McCain! I still do not think the Country is ready far a female president and McCain is close enough to being A Democrat that he will allow on the fence Dems a chance to vote for him!

most people don't realize that McCain hold a lifetime 83% conservative voting record (compare that to Hillary and Obama who have 10 and 8% respectively)... he has a near perfect pro-life voting record... he has a tax cutting record as well, his only objection to the bush tax cut was that there were no spending cuts to go with it, instead spending increases...
Mac's weaknesses are immigration and economy... but for his weaknesses there i can live with 'em in return for REAL conservative foreign policy, war, terrorism, and national security values... not to mention that he is a friggin HAWK on spending/earmarks... for the most part, I don't believe that the prez has a large influence on the economy anyway and his stance on immigration, while not ideal, is better than nothing at all and still better than any stance the dems have...

And here I thought you had a clue about politics sleddy. McCain will be the next Democrat I mean beat the next Democrat candidate like a redheaded step child. I like Rush's point about why conservatives should vote for Billary and not McCain. Both of them will do the exact same thing and being able to lay it on the Dems lap is better than having everyone blame a psuedo Republican like McCain is.

Hell I'll say Barack will carry the minorities Hillary will carry the ladies. And THAT is their respective qualifications PERIOD! Im very grateful to McCain for his service to this country but he is NOT a conservative. I could let alot of his BS. slide. But his liberal immigration platform scares the hell outa me. Sambo NAILED it we have got to get behind whoever opposes the worse of the two evils. What i dont understand is why somebody like Ron Paul cannot make a dent in the 2 party system. With the Internet I dont think you have to have a war chest to get your point out there. I know you have to spend the $$$s on TV but there has to be better options than picking the candidate to hate the least?
She will never get my vote. There is no perfect candidate this year so we must choose the one closest to the middle. I do not want to see a D President, a D Senate majority and a D Congress majority. I know I can work with the R's. McCain may have some challenges, but they are better than the alternative D's.

I personally think we stand a better chance against obama than clinton. Obama will get the minority vote for sure but his problem there is alot of the welfar supporters he has are to lazy to go out and vote or they aren't registered voters. clinton may not have anymore supporters than Obama but of the supporters she has a much higher percentage will vote and that is why I am more concerned about her than obama. I still will welcome with open arms, McCain, over either of them and again I believe the key is to not let them divide us. I'm sure Mitt wasn't very thrilled about throwing in the towel but he knows how the game is played and was smart enough to step down for the good of the party. We all remember what Ross Perot did to our party. He split the republican party just enough to get clinton elected because of his ego. Let's not let that happen again. Stand united as if McCain was your first choice and get out and vote when the time comes. Again sorry for being so long winded but like the song goes you have to stand for something or you will fall for anything. A clinton is a clinton is a clinton, they will say and or do anything to get elected!!!!!
I don't care who it is, if Dems stay as energized as they are now, they will destroy Republicans. Republicans need to get out and vote if only to save state and local offices that stand a good chance of riding a Dem President's coat tails. I can live with a Dem President if I can get Congress back.
McCain will be the best bet compared to Obama or Hillary when it comes to sledding issues. Wasn't it under Clinton when the whole Yellowstone and Wilderness taking stuff started?
BTW, I voted for Paul. I disagree with his war stance, but he came closest to my views on limited Government.
