State legislature passed a new noise ordinance, 90db stationary test for sleds from July 2, 1977 to present. $100 fine.![Mad :mad: :mad:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

<geek alert>As I understand db, it's an exponential increase in sound, not just linear.
Eh, i'm with you on that one.I'll probably get bashed for saying this but i would prefer if sleds were a lot quieter.
* Near total silence - 0 dB
* A whisper - 15 dB
* Normal conversation - 60 dB
* A lawnmower - 90 dB
* A car horn - 110 dB
* A rock concert or a jet engine - 120 dB
* A gunshot or firecracker - 140 dB

So..how exactly are you suppose to know if your within 88 db in the first place?
I wish they'd stop traffic on 6th Ave, so I didn't have to hear cars going by all the time. They should put a law on when you can drive.
They should limit the number of cars per hour on roads.
They should put a limit on the number of people to a city.
Limit the number of greenies to a state...
Limit the number of skiers allowed on the interstate.
Skier traffic is more annoying than anything I've yet to experiance while snowmobiling. Yeah, I'll even put up with plpers w/ "brap braap braaap thumb" syndrome. Since I can at least get away from that.
I honestly don't like loud sleds, or at least don't like riding them all day long. But I have had, and do have loud sleds..
But, I in no way believe in having a loud sled, just to have a loud sled either.
Mule, come up with a little speech that we can all recite in the courthouse with so much technical jargon it'll make the stupid judge's head spin!
If a lawnmower is 90db, then a stock sled is more! My advice, get to the parking lots early, get your gear on, make sure that you have everything in your pack, double check fuel and oil and get the hell outta there. The FS is not going to be in the lots until 9:30-10am!

If you are in Vail, pay on the way in and do not ride past the ranger station. Point it up the hill in the lot and go. I have only seen (1) ranger off trail and he was looking for a lost skier.
