Need new boots. Klim or HMK?

I was thinking with your mountain background and your heritage you would like to get the Chief Joseph Style Leather moccasin type boots. They are supposed to work good and not rip your seat? I would check them out, I heard they have some in Fort Hall at the tradin post.

I have HMK Pro's... They are awesome! I have them 4 seasons and they are still in great shape. I had a pair of HMK Highmarks that fell apart after just a few rides. I called HMK and they not only sent me another pair of boots, but they upgraded them from the Highmark to The Pro for free.... How's that for service! I did however buy my man a pair of Klim boots and they are pretty solid also.

Had a pair of KLIM Adrenline...first time I ever had dry feet, but my feet FROZE and it was fairly warm 20 degree weather.

I went back to my wet but warm Trukks. Still searching......

I have the White and Orange HMK Lace ups and love them. They size out real small so you need a size or 2 bigger than your normal shoe size. They definitley take time to get used to and break in. They are very stiff but offer much needed support. If you try to judge them by just tring them on or just on the first ride out you will hate them, but after you get used to them and they break in I couldn't go any other way. Exteamly Warm, Totaly 100% dry, period!

klim adrenaline 1 season best boot i ever owned except almost no sole left have about 2000 km on them.. last season fell through the lake with them on and my feet were still dry
abd for all you guys with cold feet i don't understand i were underarmour socks which are super thin and ride in minus 20c. in the canadian rockies. my feet stay warm but thats just me!

HMK pro boa's lacing system is slick - i hate laces that break. I coat these ones with some sort of crap that repels water a couple times a year and wear socks that wick away moisture from yer feet... all problems solved. I found out years ago that a decent pair of socks cures alot of problems. Everything else i have is Klim

dad got some klim adrenalines for x-mas, i got some HMK pro boots, they are sweet, definately more of a snowboard boot, which i like because i snowboard as well. they are breaking in now and are REALLY comfy, and super warm, i rode -15*F and had cozy warm feet on 25 miles of trail out.

I just got a pair of Klim Adrenaline boots. I have only used them once, but they seem great. It's funny how different brands work differently for people. I think sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind and pick one. Otherwise you might be wearing your 25 year old sorrells that way four pounds each. You know, the kind that had that big old pull out felt liner. Good luck.

That's me... :face-icon-small-con

I bought the Klim Boots and I'm pleased with them. My feet stay very warm and they are very comfortable. I like the way fit on my running boards much better than my old boots. Due to the dang sharp edges on the running boards of the '09 cats, I cut a 3 inch slit in my old boots, so that made me make the decision earlier than I anticipated.

Overall, I'm pleased with the Klim.

I thought this post would have expired by now?

I asked this question about 3 years ago on this forum and got about the same opinions. I ended up going with HMK and they have been great. They were a little stiff at first but they mold better to your feet and loosen after a few rides. My feet have NEVER been cold. I think most who post that they get wet feet from HMK boot are wearing too thick a sock. I wear the thinnest nylon sock I have and I have always been warm and dry.:D

I have a pair of the Altimates and they are actually pretty darn good. Light weight, your feet stay warm, and they are comfortable. They dont offer the support like a snowboard style but are fairly firm for ankle support. Hold up well on runningboard abuse. They claim they are water proof but I wouldnt go all the way to water proof ... not bad though ... better than Klim and HMK (ive had both) as far as dry feet. I am always looking for the best boot ... havent found one yet so i still wear the Altimates.

Snowboard boots are where it's at I think, lighter and more comfortable, in a lot of cases offer more support too. Few examples, $189 Burton Moto, or a bit more heavy duty Burton Driver-X with a vibram sole, $399.

Klim

I went through the same dilemma a month ago and decided that a few more people liked he Klims than the HMK's. I bought Klim Adrenalines and love them. Just enough support, yet flexible enough to walk around in. Get a snobunje plastic running board shovel instead of kicking with your feet and they will last you a long time. Waterproof, warm, and carry the Klim guarantee. Send Culater a PM and he will set you up for a good price. He was awesome to deal with.

I own Klim Radium boots AND Klim Adrenaline boots. Love 'em both. I haven't had wet or cold feet. Keep in mind that the socks you wear help too. Spend the money on a good pair of socks, regardless of the boots you decide on. You'll be happy you did.

Dan.
