need advice from senior riders....

Another vote for the sled with the local support...

I had a 2006 800 summit... great sled, It has its strengths and weakness's just like the rest. The M's are great, the dragons are great... all out of the box and with some tweaking are awesome.

I'm not brand loyal and have ridden on the M's... they are wicked sleds no doubt about it. Put a top notch rider on any of the top sleds and you will see about the same performance.

I've talked with Kelsey at RK-Tec as well as others. You can pull a lot of reliable power out of the M8 without having to go to great measures.

All of the top offerings from the different mfgs are great sleds. The service will make a big difference.

BTW I think Burrants ride in the video is a Boondocker turbo equipped M1000

AND He could make any capable mountain sled look good

I have been back and forth about a this question for a while and I think I finally have my decision but would like the input from some more advanced riders. What to get this year: A brand new 2008 M8 Sno Pro 153" that I can get for 9000 or a used 2006 Skido summit 151" with 1500 miles for 6000.
Here is the criteria:
-I have been riding for about two years. I had a 2006 arctic cat m7 153".
-All my friends ride arctic cat.
-My good friend is an arctic cat mechanic.
-One of my other friends is the Arctic Cat dealer in town.
-I am more of a Boondocking style of rider. Hill climbs are fun but i am no
highmarker.
-The Ski Doo dealer in town is non existent.

What I've heard about the Rev: great power, great for jumping, light. Parts are expensive and if i do find a tree it won't be pretty...

What the M brings to the table: good all around sled and I can get parts cheap and if i break down all my friends will have parts in the trailer. Great fox suspension. I am used to the m chassis.

money isn't really the issue but i would hate to go with the m because of all the ease of parts and a mechanic and friends and miss out on something better.

Any advise or preferences. I am planning on swooping up the 8 on Saturday unless I have input to lead me to the other side.

thanks in advance

With all that being said...............Logically, I'd stick with the cat, not because that's what all your friends ride or what I'd do, but because you have a local dealer and you have tabs on a good mechanic...........Those two items in themselves can be gold especially when something goes wrong. All the power and flash in the world won't help you if something breaks 50 miles out of the snowpark on any brand. Your not going to gain much by changing brands, if anything, especially with the absence of a Doo dealer and mechanic in your area.

However, there again, don't do something just because your friends are all doing it.............do it because that's what you want. If the Doo is what you really want in your heart then go with the Doo and ride with the pack of cats!:)

Its the Top recommendation .............

it sounds like cat is still the top recommendation ...

.... because its easier for you and will present the least hassle for tinkering since you have access to Arctic Cat sources.

It is not the recommendation of being the best sled for your applications.
The 06 REV the much better performer, NO question.

I am pro-DOO but I fully agree you should get the M8, great sled.
