My XP issues

I have a 08 XP 154" Everest. My dealer installed the flowrites in the back of the airbox, I have a HPS can and vent kits installed on both sides.

The problem that I am having is that the sled "burbles" at 3/4 to WOT under a load. I have pulled the plugs and they were really dark with a bunch of carbon on the outside edges. I changed plugs and it seemed to do better but still "burbles". I didn't have this problem until last week after the vent kits were installed and I started running the new 377 belt. It was the first week without 2-3' of new snow.

I had run the HPS can and with the flowrites several times without incident. This kinda concerns me cause when I am 3/4 up a steep hill and it starts burbling and it sounds awful. My instinct is to let off and turn out which takes the fun out of things. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

I ride in Colorado at 9000 ft and up! I would appreciate any help that I can get!

Thanks,
PJ

Try switching back to the old belt. Should be a simple trail swap, try it on a hill where you get the burble.

Do you really think that the belt would create that problem? Is yours acting differently with the 377?

Like he said, should be an easy check. At first thought, I wouldn't consider the belt but after reading your original post, what changes were made when you noticed the problem. Venting and the belt.

Yeah, it's just weird. These sleds are harder to mess with than the old REVs. I just can't swap jets in the field like I used to. Will try the belt Thursday.

You could also eliminate any or all of the vents with some duct tape applied to different areas when you are having the troubles. Pretty quick and easy check that you can do right on the hill when you are experiencing the burble.

If there is alot of air being pulled in to the airbox after the airflow sensor you could be getting the det sensor to kick in?
How many flowrites are in there? where on the airbox are they?

The dealer installed 2-2" flowrites in the back of the airbox to alleviate the bogging problem. It worked. The deto light hasn't come on yet.

I spoke with a mechanic last night. He said that the sled system is probably over-oiling, and that would cause it to do that. I have to take it in and have it adjusted. They have a new calibration. He also said that it won't hurt to tape up the flowrites, just to narrow things down. Thanks guys

PJ, our dealer said it is a no-no to install behind the sensor in the air box--we popped the headlight out and installed in top of air box which is ahead of the sensor---

Bogging? What bogging? Do you mean in deep snow... when your intake gets plugged? Or did it bog at 6500 RPMs? I instralled a screen kit over the intake & cured the snow clog on the intake... No need for flow rites.

If the "Burble" is air/fuel related and occures in the mid-range here's a little skidoo tip. The XP's have solid carb needles and do not adjust, an adjudtable needle allows the mid range to be cleaned up to run crisp and the "Burble" is gone.

Last i heard the 2007 800R needle is on backorder so check with your dealer. Part #404162-059 i think is what the # is.

Thanks, I'll try the on top of the air box tip. I took the florites out and taped over the holes. The DPM lines were hooked up backwards too. Burble seemed to settle down a bit. Still does it but not bad. I think I am over-revving too. Still hitting 8500 at #2, Gonna drop down to #1 and see if that helps. I will check on the needles Saturday when I go to the dealer. I had one dealer tell me that the oil pump cannot be adjusted and I have one tell me that they can be. Which one is true?

Thanks for all of your help.

I wouldn't worry about the OIL,,,, oil is good for the engine. If you are hitting 8500,,, your rev limiter is kicking in,,, making it cut out... 8150 is good... I would get a good dealer that knows how to setup an XP....
