My summer project

So I finally got around to cutting down my 80 foot tall Maple tree in my back yard. The tree had a deck built around it 20 some years ago, long story short, tree got way to big ruined deck, tree had to go. Here are some pictures of my adventure.

So at this point in my adventure we are going cut the base off to stump the tree. No problem out comes the 48" bar on the Stihl 880.

About 3/4 way through the tree sparks come flying out of the cut, wonderful must be a rock or steel that the tree grew around. So now with 3 48" blades dulled down to nothing the tree still stands.

Finally I get tree cut down to be stumped. I call the tree stumper guy that I have used before , he comes over, tells me it's to big for him, plus there is river rock stuck in the tree all over the base. So I call 5-6 different stumper guys and one gal. They all tell me it's to big for them to stump. So me being a man I said F it, I have the means to dig this SOB out of the ground myself. So I bring over my bobcat and excavator and start digging. This is when the real fun starts.

Here's me and Jaba the stump as my kids call it.

At this point we think we have the stump on the ropes, so my dad and I hook a chain on it to give it a little tug.

As I'm tugging I hear a sharp crack followed my glass shattering. When I come to, yes it appears I gave myself a concussion when the chain broke and my head slammed through the back window of the bobcat. The chain broke, sending one end back to me in the bobcat and the over end into my living room on the main floor.

Now after a brief ER visit to remove some glass from my eyes, I'm on a mission to remove this stump.

Which part? Where the chain narrowly missed my wife and two boys, or my father behind the stump, or the fact that chain bounced off a brand new window but didn't break it, or the fact that I get to shell out 8 grand for a new window that I didn't plan on replacing till after the first of the year. Maybe it is the Nazi like devise they use at the hospital to wash my eyes out.
