My new pro belt drive

Went riding at Cooke last weekend and tried out the TKILLC belt drive on my 13 PRO with a new 2:25 gear change at 9 -10,000' and it works great. The TK belt drive is very quiet, there is no whine like the stock QD. The best part is being able to gear the sled down. I was riding at 4-6,000' last year and the sled worked fine but I was only using the first half of the primary clutch. This year At 8-10k altitude with the stock gearing and stock QD the sled was really sluggish and lost the snappy bottom end/mid range it had at the lower elevation. Now with the new system and lower gear the sled has so much more low & mid range grunt and really pulls hard...harder than ever. I marked my primary with a felt pen and all but the last 1/4 to 3/8" or so of the clutch is being used now with the new gearing and stock clutching (62's). Very impressed and will recommend TKILLC belt drive to anyone with a pro. Gear that sled down and it really wakes it up!

Kool...glad to hear it. I am waiting for my kit for my 12 Pro now. Went with the 2:25 gearing as well.

My new pro belt drive fix!! Sweet setup by tom at Tkiinc in billings Montana! Well worth the money! You needing a fix for yours give him a call at 406-850-8091. He will hook ya up

I just got mine installed this evening, but I am having some trouble getting the belt to tension up correctly.

What ratio did you go with? Looking at your picture the tensioner is in about the middle of the range, on mine I have it 'all the way tight' and I'm still pretty lose on the belt.

With that said, I went with the lowest gearing available (need it for my clutch setup), and I'm wondering if the belt I got was better sutied to the higher gear ratios (bigger top cog) ... It seems to me like if the belt I got was abotu 1/2" to 3/4" less in diameter it would tension up just fine.

Anybody have this issue?

With all that said however, the rest of the kit went on without a hitch, fit was perfect and no hassle at all installing it. Its a nice looking unit, I can't wait to try it out :)

So what number belt was provided? C3 guy myself, but I likely could run the calc's and get you close enough to prove whether you got the correct belt or not. Tooth count top sprocket and tooth count bottom sprocket? Stock bearing plate, correct?

it should be a 800-36 belt. With the 25 top gear that makes the 2.52 ratio the belt will seem big. But the tensioner will take up the slack. Not many options for belts to be able to get to that ratio. Next shorter belt is to short and will not allow you to get to 2.52. What clutches are you running? It seems like a low ratio with my experience we have had with the new Polaris's. Send me an email or give me a call if you have issues.

I have now mounted 2.52 on two pro rmk -13, on both sled the belt tensioner is bottom out with a belt tension about 15mm.. i am bit worried about that.. and on both sled the belt tensioner is having contact with the brake rotor.. anyone else with these problems?

I found my problem:

As you can see in the first pic, the bolt going through towards the rotor was in backwards from what the pictures of previous installs have shown. I pulled the allen bolt and reversed it, now it clears the rotor.

Also, make sure you put the two thickest washers on the upper bolt ... the 5/16th washers are the thickest of them.

The clearance to the rotor is pretty shallow, but I don't think it will hit. I have mine tensioned up perhaps a bit too tight right now, maybe 5mm .... I think I'll slack it off a bit before I ride it. I fired it up and ran it just a bit and everthing seems to rotate smoothly.

The kit seems to fit just fine after getting the washers and bolts in right :)

thanks for the tip but its not the bolt who is the problem, its the hole plastic idler wheel thats having contact with brake rotor.. i am worried its going to melt if i drive like that.

Sorry about that, it was defiantly my fault I installed the bolt wrong.

I emailed you a couple weeks ago and haven't gotten any pictures of the problem. I am not sure what is the problem so if you can send pictures that would help. I just installed one on a 14 with the same ratio as yours and it all fits and tensions fine. I am also am not sure about the idler. We provide a aluminum idler not plastic, it is anodized black. Please feel free to contact me but I am guessing you don't have the spacers in the correct spots.

So I got about 350 kms on my 2014 163 Pro with the TKI kit at 2.25:1 (stock is 2.09:1) and last ride I tried the smaller top pulley to give it 2.42:1 ratio. The 2.25 was way better in my opinion. Believe it or not the 2.42 gearing felt way sluggish in comparison. Could be a function of clutching at this ratio but back to 2.25 for me. This gearing change has given my sled an edge over the other 2 we tested against (2013 and 2014 stock) and is smoother and will keep my clutch cooler as the clutch belt will ride higher in the primary with more belt contact. This drive is awesome and gives me way more confidence than stock because at least 2/3 of the top pulley contacts the belt so I doubt if I could strip this one like I did the stocker last season. Just to avoid one heli ride and this kit is paid for, not to mention I can sell it or move it to my next sled when the time comes. Finally the tensioner is great and I can keep the ideal tension for the life of the belt. BTW the tension has stayed constant so I don't expect to adjust it very often. Great job Tom!

:face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-tonPutting mine on now. Have one small problem that is not clear in the instructions....does the bearing from the chaincase coverplate get reinstalled? Instructions show bushing going back in with picture of the bearing but the bearing is installed in the coverplate in the picture...was getting late last night so I just quit when I got to that point. Going to be sweet
