muffpot?

Glade you guys (GMCRMK ENDO1) like the mount. Found that if I run a couple of hours food is just right.

muffpot location by silencer dosent work

I located it just as the pictures show on woodsrider post, leave my food in for hours and engine temp runs a steady 125 degrees F. no deal... cant even keep it luke warm hardly.... don't waste your time. needs to be sitting closer to "y" pipe and directly on can.But there's no easy fix for that.

I mounted similar to woodsrider but used steel mount instead of aluminum. I darn sure use gloves when taking out and the food is always hot. Works for me!

joyridejoel Weird, friend and I just used ours this weekend in 10 to 15 below had burrito in for about 3 hours bottom was getting a little crispy Friends sausages also got hot. Do you have extra vents? I agree that the y pipe would get hotter but I could not get cooker to mount and stay tight. I believe someone mounted to pipe near muffler but had to remove a section of heat shield and piece of flat stock between pipe and mount.

HHHMMMMM. well i keep getting the wife to make epic meals for me on the hill, defrost them the night before, have the same 2'' curved aluminum riser mounted to the pipe just before the silencer and no extra vents on the machine. Typically ride -5 to -10 degrees celcius engine temp at 125 F and cant keep food luke warm even after riding all day...My bad luck i guess i just cant understand how it works for some and not for others. Probably try cutting a small section of the shielding out and mounting it direct.

Make sure half of the base for the pot is in contact with the silencer and that the aluminum piece is it resting on the pipe correctly. Mine had no problems getting warm enought to cook the food I had in it and I wasnt even riding it all that hard.

Direct contact to the pipe is a must. The more space between cooker and pipe, the longer it will take to cook. As I stated in previous post on this subject I cut a small piece of the heat shield away right before the silencer and mounted direct to the pipe. The only thing that I did was to put a small piece of 1/4 inch aluminum flat plate approx. 1 inch by 3 inches between the base and the mounting plate so clamps did not put a bow in mounting plate. This I found was necessary from past experience because without this it will eventually break the plate. This aluminum spacer will allow it to sit flat. Again by doing this you still have direct contact from pipe thru plate, to cooker. Air between will severely hamper the cooking time.

Yes cooker mount should sit on top of muffler also the more the curves in mount match the cooker mount plate and the pipe the more heat will be transferred. I am also working on a update will update after I test.

Just in case someone didn't want to buy or build the mount for the muffpot I have had 2 rides with mine like this. The only down side is it's a little tough to get out but all you have to do is pull up on the hood just a little and it slides right out the side. I don't know if anyone else wants to try this or not but I thought some may like it.

I had to turn the base the way it is because with it the other way the lever to clamp it down gets caught on the inside of the bumper so I flipped it around and have been way happy with it.

And throw your food in when your ready to eat in about an hour cause I rode for 4 hours last week and burnt the chit out of my pizza pocket. But atleast I know it cooks:face-icon-small-hap

One more thing, as you can see the sensor coming out of the pipe touches the muffpot so if you do it this way I would recommend pulling that out of the way!!

Enjoy

Hillclimbr, I tried that location did not have luck keeping the base clamped was concerned it would rotate and grounded out sensor also a pain to access. I plan to test a shroud that attaches to base this week. Will have 2 PRO's one with mount only and one with mount and shroud. I will post temps before and at 1 hour intervals.

I ended up using 2 clamps from Napa, thats the only way I have ever kept them from not sliding on any of my sleds.

Let us know how it works cause it's a heck of a lot easier to get to on the exaust side then where I have it but I like it hot when I pull it out. It will be interesting to see the temps at hour intervals!! thanks Woodsrider!

muff install

I installed mine last night. Started out to copy the 2" sqyare aluminum tube method. Ended up a bit differant. Got a scrap of 2" tube 5-1/2" long from welder buddy.Scribed it to fit over the can and filed out angled slots to fit the muff pot bracket. Bent the bottom slightly to fit the radius of the end of the pipe.Riveted the bracket to the tubing and clamped it on the end of the muffler pipe with the hose clamp it came with. Provides a lot of contact suface and heats up great.

Using the guidance WOODSRIDER previously provided in this thread, I hacked up a piece of 2" pipe, welded it together, and WALLA! See picture. Haven't tested it yet, but will this weekend. :face-icon-small-coo

Also used woodsrider idea (thanks) but only had .095 steel square tubing to work with. Can't wait to try it tomorrow. Does alum transfer heat better or less than steel?

Test went very well after 2 hours the temp of food in non shielded units was 95 degrees the shielded unit's food was 210 degrees. Install is very easy no cutting or drilling required. PM if you want one.
