buffaloHAWK, you sir, are a true fanatic of the sport and I respect you, no, I love you for it! And no, you can't have one to demo next season for free
Powdercoating and painting....I have no trouble admitting when I am in over my head and these are two things I trust to others.
Three seasons ago, I worked with Yamaha to try to buy/borrow/lease their molds to make brand new Scoot and Sport bodys in more current colors, but the fixtures reside in Japan and they declined, citing liability, transport costs and proprietary reasons, which I can respect. So, I went out and met with about a dozen autobody painters at high end shops to find my guy: a pro automotive painter (a very PATIENT guy) who painted a Scoot body multiple times (stripping and prepping each time in between) to get the right mix of flex and other additives as snoscoot body's flex a TON when removed or moved around. He worked very hard to find the right magic as we were asking alot: a Porsche/Ferrari-class finish on 20-year old plastic that has typically been scratched, gouged and beat to hell---and it couldn't have any cracking or spidering AND it had to work in subzero weather.
I am proud to say that not only did he figure it out, but he puts a 3 season warranty on it to boot.
Powdercoating....I have learned alot about this very cool, and sometimes tempermental process with my past builds/projects and have since selected two shops, depending on the piece/color/texture/size.
buffaloHAWK, two questions for you: 1) what is your moto ride and 2) can I take your SnoHawk for a dig if I come to your backyard next season? I have always wanted to go for a good rip on one of those things.
