MOTORFIST STOMPER BOOT

Two rides on mine. Very, very comfortable. I'm still undecided as to whether or not they breath as well as my Klim Adrenaline GTX's. I found my socks were just slightly damp at the end of the day vs being bone dry in my Klims. I have eVent riding gear and total confidence in eVent fabric. However, I'll reserve judgment on the "breathable" synthetic leather that MF covers the eVent with until I have a few more rides on them. The next two day trip I do, I'll wear the Stompers one day and the Adrenalines the next. Then I'll hopefully be able to decide which is better for me.

I hear ya.

It was sunny and 18 degrees when we left the house this morning, but it was 30 at the Pass. Inversion.
I was a sweaty pig because I figured it would be in the single digits up there.

I wore my KLIM socks. Feet were WARM but socks were dry when I got done riding. BONE dry. Worked well for me.

The ONLY thing so far is that they fold or krinkle right near the 2nd lace hole when I walk, and push on my foot. It's not bad though. I might be fine after break-in.

Make sure you test em the same and give them a chance by not wearing cotton socks.

Absolutely !! I never wear cotton socks. I like both, just want to figure out what works best for me. I'll post what I find.

poly

underwear too

Guy kept complaining about a soggy bottom...no matter what gear he rode. He had these big ol cotton boxers under his poly :face-icon-small-con

Rode with the Stomper boot for 3 days with Smartwool socks. The good; fit, comfort, warmth, easy to get a tight fit which I like, stay tied and tight all day, sole is durable not getting chewed up, good ankle support, sole and heal have a nice cushion, traction. The bad; the boots were wet at the end of every day. The last day the right boot was really wet and the liner was soppy. Not sure where the snow is getting in. Either through the sides of the tongue or over the top. I doubt they are leaking straight though. I was very careful after the first day to have my gaiters on my Klim Freeride pants pulled down extra low and the velcro and snap closed properly. Funny thing is my feet never felt wet, the Smartwool socks are prolly the reason for that. Not sure what to do. I like so much about the boot but wet feet is dangerous. Also, I have a PEET dryer I was using every night so they were bone dry every morning.:face-icon-small-con

Wow.

I also like the ankle support.

They go on and off very EASILY!!! Like hot meat in a wet taco.

Thanks for the reply Matte Murder.

Still wet after the day ehh. Has anyone else had this problem? We dont have any dealers around so i would have to order online. Returns would be an issue if they were wet by the end of the day.

Just so you guys know returns/customer service is NOT an issue with Motor Fist. I was contacted by a rep who saw my post and he offered to get me a new pair sent immediately to my address at their expense. WOW! His comment was that they didn't want me to miss a day on the snow. I don't think the boots are leaking through the shell. I think our wet heavy Washington snow got under my gaiters and in over the top or around the tongue. I am going to try them again this weekend and try and see what's happening. I don't want them to send me a new pair if these ones are fine(which is what I think now). I love everything else about the boots.

MM it's nice too see that someone can give a review and disect what a problem (cause) might be instead of saying my boots leak so they're crap.
There's too much of that BS anymore, and thumbs up to Motorfist for wanting to take care of it! Hope it's a non-issue.

I'm not sure what kind of gaitors you are talking about...external or the the kind that are built inside the pant leg of snow pants...I don't know.

But I will say that I've had awful experiences with the external hunting/ hiking gaitors while hunting in deep snow. I always get more wet with those than if I had left the gaitors in the truck. Snow packs in worse and my socks get wetter than hell. I have to take them off and wring them out when I get back to the truck.

I think gaitors suck in knee deep or deeper snow.

Just a thought here boys...but could the "dampness" you are feeling after a days ride in the boot be related to sweat from your foot throughout the day?

I sweat like a pig when I ride and my socks are usually somewhat wet when I am done for the day.

I went with the new MF Stomper boots this year and invested in some of the good KLIM socks to put underneath as to help "wisk" the moisture (sweat) away from my feet throughout the day.

First ride report with the MF Stomper boots and some good socks was positive for sure...although the socks were slightly moist from sweat at the end of the day, my feet were dry and warm all day long:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

Any Waterproof breathable boot won't breathe ALL the sweat away. We are to hairy and sweaty. There will be a "clamyness" to boots when you ride at times. It is really noticable when you take your boots off in the cold and the clamyness hits the cold air and makes it feel worse becasue the clamyness just got cold. And your hands that are warm make it feel....not totally wet but not dry.....if that makes sense. It will be wet to the touch at times. If you have a full blown leak in a boot, usually your foot will just start getting cold because fresh cold arse water is coming in to get you! VS. limited sweat. If you get wet in a boot, really wet, you know what that feels like. You are standing in a swamp!

I rode today and it was warm. Like 40s. I had this exact thing happen with the clamyness. And it was the top by the tongue where all the sweat will rise to, cause heat rises. Got home and once they aired out and got back to room temp they felt fine. There was still some sweat in them, some clamyness....but it was much differnt since it got some air in there.

Klim boots have a fleece liner in them. There are advantages to one like this or one like the Stomper. Fleece will help the clamyness go away and helps some on warmth. But will also leave a bigger bunch of fabric to collect more water to hold in longer. Stompers have a "slick" liner., so the sweat immediatly on the surface and not sucked away into the depths of fleece. Sweat a bunch in fleece longer to dry out. Sweat on the slick surface and airs out faster....pick your choice.

All that being said. Boots are fragile like gloves. there is a reason they only have a 1 year warranty across the board from most boot makers. You can get a bad boot much easier than a bad jacket or bib. Send them back and get a new one if they really are getting wet. Crap happens....

Also on a MF boot, they are narrower on the top of the boot. Most pants/bibs have the gaiter made for larger snowboard style boots. MF pants/bibs have an adjustable gaiter to fit both. If you have a big gaiter...i promise you stuff, even just a little bit will get in. When snow dust touches the inside of that wicking liner of the stomper....well you know the story. Wicks the moisture in.

I can't over state to wear the right socks. Wear a Motorfist sock or a Klim sock IMO. Cotton socks will make the clamyness turn to just outright wet socks just because of sweat.

Klim actually states that their boots need to have a Klim sock in them or it just won't work in conjuction with the boot. Stomper boots are no different. The need a Motorfist sock.
