MOTORFIST STOMPER BOOT

One thing I wanted to respond to. It was said that MF was targeting the group of riders that "can't afford Klim gear" Thats not what I saw. The Stomper boot is the same price as Klim Adrenaline boot. I went with MF because I didn't want to purchase Klim online. Our dealer didn't have Klim gear in yet. Anyway; if the MF boot doesn't work out; I'll definately buy Klim next time.

Im starting to see a pattern here...from 09
'm starting to see some kind of connection between Motor Fist and Klim.

Motor Fist's website says it's located in Idaho Falls. There seems to be a tie between Motor Fist and Rexburg Motor Sports which is obviously in Rexburg. Klim is from Rigby which is right in between them both.

Obviously Motor Fist can not compete with Klim and Gore-Tex. I have done the research and Gore is light years ahead of any of the other waterproof membranes on the market. I would go so far as to say it's actually in a class of it's own with about 3 or 4 other clone companies like eVent trying to catch up.

What I'm wondering is if Motor Fist is a sister company to Klim trying to get the market shares of the guys who can't afford to buy Klim. I can't see anyone being dumb enough to think they could compete with Klim without using Gore. That certainly makes no sense, especially after the Tobe thing. There is a huge market for guys who can't afford Klim and nobody would know that more than Klim. They already own the high end market and will most likely keep it as long as they are married to Gore. I doubt Gore would think to kindly of them making less expensive gear out of a clone membrane under the Klim name, so why not start a new company under a different name and grab the mid-line market? The Motor Fist gear was obviously copied from Klim. The warranty from Motor Fist really isn't anything special or different than Klim's warranty. Mostly it's smoke and mirrors. Only difference is with Motor Fist they will keep fixing your stuff rather it keeps you dry or not, something that I'm sure Gore won't allow Klim to do because of Gore's "guaranteed to keep you dry" marketing slogan and reputation.

Not that it matters one way or the other, I just find it coincidental???
Reply With Quote You have stated that you dont "work" for klim but, are just close "friend" of the owner...does he pay in cash or check??LOL

This was copy and pasted from another thread that a certain member named "spur" posted back in 2009. This is not my opinion however, it is my opinion that this person has a history of trashing other brands. Specifically Motorfist... always claiming that these other brands are somehow inferior to the all mighty Klim. I just wanted to highlight this trend...with that said i am a fan of Klim gear as i own Tomahawk jacket, freeride pants and several different pair of gloves. I have ridden in the Avalanche boot and found the Motorfist boot to be a superior product! My opinion is they are better, all that said without bashing anybody...weird As far as cutting the two boots in half well...i dont have to! I found i liked the stomper boot better as soon as i tried it on! I could care less what so and so puts inside a boot as long as it keeps my foot warm, dry and comfortable! And to elaborate on the price point comment about Motorfist filling a void for less expensive gear..."thats ignorant" (Micheal Jackson voice):focus:

Supposedly eVent is the real deal....and more breathable than Gore....theres a lot of people that have spent a considerable amount of time in the backcountry performing aerobic activities and working up a sweat that need a breathable product and have switched over to eVent....in their real life experience eVent breathes better.....and dont have to open pits zips, take a layer off, etc.

Theres a couple other fabrics out such as Polartec Neo and DriQ.....I've also heard Gores patent has ran out?...not sure how true that is... which is why your seeing these new products.....I personally havent used anything except Gore but when its time to buy new gear I will def be looking into eVent.....here a cool clip of testing waterproof & breathable fabrics.

YWe also got an education on eVent vs Gore-Tex and why Klim stopped building gear out of eVent. There is a lot of deceptive information out there on breathability vs air permability. The Gore-Tex guys helped us understand that the test MF does that is suppose to show how breathable eVent is really proves eVent is not wind proof, but has nothing to do with how breathable it is when it comes to moisture vapor transfer. I don't understand why people can't just be honest about this stuff. If you can't compete you can't compete but don't lie about it and try to deceive the consumer just to make a buck. I was totally buying the breathability story and it turns out it's a bunch of crap.

This is laughable at best !! You really believe the Gore guys are being honest and the eVent guys are lying ?? Have you tryed both ? I have and can honestly say what you posted about eVent is complete BS.

P.S. : When did Klim use eVent in their products and when (as you state) did they quit using it ? I bought my first Klim gear almost ten years ago and it was Goretex then as now. Just curious, that's all.

I am not hijacking here I just want to answer the questions. Our very first run of products did use Gore-tex. We ran out and started to use event.

I have a questions about the You Tube video ... What was the other fabric and why didn't they do the same coffee cup test with the black fabric? They didn't prove the black fabric couldn't move humidity like the red fabric.

Or was that just a Gore-Tex plug?

I bought the women's Empress gear this year and can't wait to test it this winter. MotorFist said it would be a year or so before I could buy a ladies boot from them so I guess I am stuck with my HMK boots for now.

Gore is the one that put out this video. The point of the video was to point out that the bubble demo is not showing breathability. It is showing air passing thru a membrane. The fabric over the cup was to help illustrate that point not to compare two different fabrics and there breathability.

Klim is made in china. Motorist in Idaho. That was enough to make my decision. And if you want to promote our sport and improve our economy that's what makes your decision.

Maybe you should base your decision on which one is made in China and the factory is closest to the US:face-icon-small-sho

I bought the stomper boot because they fit great and looked cool. I've never bought into the "klim" lifestyle. Just didn't want to be that guy with the matching everything program. Plus I always thought the name klim was pretty dorky. I seriously doubt there's much difference between the two.

Day one on mine.....thumbs up.

Two rides on mine. Very, very comfortable. I'm still undecided as to whether or not they breath as well as my Klim Adrenaline GTX's. I found my socks were just slightly damp at the end of the day vs being bone dry in my Klims. I have eVent riding gear and total confidence in eVent fabric. However, I'll reserve judgment on the "breathable" synthetic leather that MF covers the eVent with until I have a few more rides on them. The next two day trip I do, I'll wear the Stompers one day and the Adrenalines the next. Then I'll hopefully be able to decide which is better for me.

Make sure you test em the same and give them a chance by not wearing cotton socks.
