Mod list for 2015 Viper MTX

Any thought on ski's yet? I am fairly certain in deep powder these stock ski's won't do the trick, don't wanna go too wide and loose maneuverability. At 4-500$ a whack I would like to get it right the first time.

We did a demo ride on a couple different Viper turbos last spring - the snow we were in was good for the time of year (Snowy Range WY). The skis I liked the best were the powder pros (stock, C&A, and the camoplast blow molded skis from the stock 2012 Nytro MTX were the other ones we tried from what I can remember). There may have been other differences (shock/skid setup etc.) but based on my ride that day I would go with the PPs if I were buying a Viper.

I'm gonna give the Slydog 8" Powderhounds a try this year, picked up a set used.

Hopefully they'll float this tank........j/k :)

For comparison against the old original skinny Doo flex ski...

Any thoughts on the C&A BX skis? They seem similar to the Grippers. This is my first four stroke so I want enough floatation but am worried an 8" might make it hard to maneuver.

That's a mean track. It'll be interesting to hear feedback about the powerclaw versus the CE or even the t3 track.

PC 3 is 5lbs lighter than PC 2.6 aswell so I'm excited to try it to see how it works on stocker as I'm thinking of waiting a few hundred miles before boosting

Get the boost on now!!!!! If you wait for a few hundred miles it will be into the prime riding. Besides, it will be a complete dis-service to that track to run without boost.

I have a turbo pro so I'm not too worried and our prime riding doesn't start till mid-late jan so it will have lots of miles by then. let the girlfriend break in the viper for me, she gets boosted pro and I'll boost the viper then

Ghostrider motorsports in fernie I remember I think they had 1 or 2 more as of now not sure if they could get any more I think they are gonna be hard to come by with cats track exchange program. I paid 700 bucks to upgrade. Msrp is 1899 since I bought my viper there they gave me msrp for my 2.6 powerclaw and 100 bucks off the pc3 which pretty much covers most of the labour to swap the track. I could of exchanged for for a camo x3 for 400. They weighed each track and the pc3 is half pound lighter compared to PC 2.6

Naw the 3 inch lug X3 doesn't help....lol. Pic below is from yesterday taken coming back down. On the way up it was pushing powder OVER the windshield. If you don't like the Viper you don't like deep powder!!!! (that odd sound is the countless Polaris Pro owners crying)

How do you like the 3" on the viper and how do you think it will do under boost? How is the handling of the viper compared to a cat?

Just my first trip on the 3 inch, but it was noticeable versus the other Viper with a 2.6. It was as I had read, was a trade off. 3 inch was noticeably better in powder but lost as much on the hard pack (road). Great for riding now but 2.6 is going to better in spring.

No idea how the 3 inch will do under boost yet.

I set our Vipers up just like an M8. Hers has rail extensions and lower skid shock relocated, My Viper has M8 Ice Age Rails on it. Both set at 37 inches wide on the front with 7 inch skis. That being said I find little to no difference TO ME from my last years 2014 M8. Notice that's an opinion and not everyone will agree.

This day we tested the guest sleds. 2006 Rev and a 2006 RMK. I only mention this because when we loaded up we marveled at how far the technology had come. Dave is a better rider than me and he could not follow me through the over the windshield powder with no base. Yes some of you could, notice I was comparing us and comparing our skills vs the old sleds and new. Dave did take the 153 Viper with the 2.6 Powerclaw and go up the hill and push snow over the windshield coming down and was impressed with the 153 Viper.

One side note: I found myself using the throttle to steer and lift the front like a motorcycle. The instant response of the Viper made it second nature, made it VERY fun to play with.

After having rode most of what Yamaha and Cat have made in the last decades the Mountain Viper is a winner....a big winner in my opinion.

Next on the list I need skis! Opinions on powder pros or c&a mtx's or c&a bx's

Bumpers coming, picking up roll over valve tommorrow, had my first ride last weekend powerclaw 3 seems to be pretty badass so far. Hopefully the aftermarket comes out with some seats, stock is a bit high for my liking

For guys that don't keep up with Arctic Cat, they've got a neat little shovel carry thingy that goes on the tunnel.

Imagine it should work on the Viper?
