What I don't see mentioned is the thing we like to call "Checks and Balances" The pres does not have unlimited power, don't forget the Congress that has been lead by democrats the past 4 years. The Pres can't make decisions all by himself. Bush has low approval rating but Congress has half his approval rating. Being a vet and still having many friends in the military (who believe we are doing the right thing) you but your A I will be voting for McCain. Obama is a smooth talker (M.L.K) but lots of BS coming out of that guys mouth. Don't forget his daddy was Muslim and he was aswell.........until he got into politics and decided to switch religions. makes me laugh when I heard Obama say he would have followed Bin Laden into his cave but McCain would not and did not. No, he was just a POW for 5+ years and the stories I hear about his time in prison, holley crap that's one hard man. You can bet he's AMERICAN all the way. POS J. Carter is saying McCain using his POW card to much. Well F U Carter, you were never a POW and quit the NAVY after serving 6 years, mostly on Subs. IMHO we will see hard times if Obama gets elected, specially if we they have control of the both houses. So if you want higher taxes, gun control, weaker anti terrorism efforts, weaker military, and less overall world intimidation factor (keeps us safer) then vote for Obama. My suggestion is, talk to a few people in the military and see who they are voting for.

P.S. I don't consider myself a DEM or GOP, I vote for who I think will run this country best and keep us safer.

The system is what it is and its what we have to deal with right now unless your one of those people who beleives in throwing your vote in the garbage on some Bob Barr type. Yes we should get involved and try to change things but until the system is fixed the most impact we can have on our country is to vote for the best option of the 2. Then in the second half of your post you rproceed to knock Sarah Palin who by all signs is different, not into the money power land game. She is fresh. There is something about her that connects with the common US citizen. Something tells us that she will make a difference. She has made a wave in Politics and many of us beleive Mccain will hop on that wave, because its popular with the people, and be a much better PotUS. The fact that we think she is hot is both refreshing and facetious. For some reason I think it does actually kinda matter, she doesnt look like the typical female politician. She looks like a mom, a very classy and intelligent mom who has her priorities straight. Someone we can really relate with. Someone who will fight for the things we would fight for if we were there. Do we know yet if she is for real? No, we dont. But we can only judge these people based on what we have seen and hope for the best. So far she has been near perfect and has done an excellent job deflecting the attacks of the Democracks. I only hope she is, who we hope she is.

I recently heard the whole story of McCain in the vietnam war and what he went through being a p.o.w. WOW. Now my question is this. What kind of message would we be sending to our servicemen if we didn't elect him for president. In my opinion he has given everything he possibly could for our country and is a TRUE PATRIOT. He has EARNED my vote and respect. I wonder...what would Obama do if he was put in the same situation??? I think that level of courage and honor is rare in people these days and we should support anyone who has spent most of his life (and literally went to hell and back) serving and fighting for our country.

I think your servicemen might be trying to say something. I will be honest I'm a canadian whose livelyhood relies on a good US economy and a strong US housing market and I want your economy good as much as the next guy. I think there is a huge misunderstanding on the gas prices. You guys are led to believe that you guys need offshore drilling and to be energy independent which is a novel idea but will not give you guys any lower gas prices. Here in Canada I would say we have huge amounts of oil and energy and today we are paying 1.50 a litre for gas(about 6 dollars a gallon.). Us Canadians and Americans with our upcoming elections should be looking towards politians that will be promoting oil companies that will build more refineries. There has not been a new one built in North America in 30 YEARS. The lack of these is why we are paying so much fuel and you guys know as much as I know this issue is going to kill our sport much quicker than anything else right. I don't want to tell anyone how to vote but I hope all canadians and americans with the upcoming federal elections research and make good decisions because if we don't we could be looking at some tough times all around.

Being that we are having our servicemen dying for your cause I feel real insulted by your statement. To tell us that we are stupid if we vote based on snowmobiling is not only presumptuous but also arrogant and ignorant as well. Sledding is a passion. For some it is the most important thing in their lives so why wouldnt it affect their vote? Sledding as it pertains to politics is about enviromentalism, enviromentalism is very politicized and generally goes along certain party lines and it affects most sports that sledders participate in. Therefore it is a big enough issue to consider when voting.
When we say Sarah Palin is attractive, much of that is due to her not being a man hater and being a good mom and being an intelligent woman whom we can look to and respect for the way she holds herself. To see a female politician who doesnt have to wear a bright orange pant suit and short hair is both attractive and speaks of who she is. These are signs of character and in my mind also worthy of consideration when casting your vote.

The whole 6-to-1 ratio stuff is a little misleading. First, Obama is leading in funding by a long shot. His millions of little $20 donations, and his use of the internet to collect them, means he has many, many time more contributors.

Second, Ron Paul got the most donations, we was an ex military, and wants out of Iraq. That doesn't mean the military is voting for a liberal, just that about 60% of the military believes we need to leave Iraq by the end of the year.

If you count the larger $200 donations, you will see the Republicans are getting most of it. Plus, don't count out the donations of military wives, which (for the most part) want their men home. All in all, it appears the military prefers the republican party about 3/4 of the time.
