Making a pretty big life change..

Good job, it's will be easy if you work hard and show them you have a brain. Never settle always look for the better outcome.

sounds like your doing well. my only question is why not go apply at the places that pay better and see if you can start there? A. you would make more money. B. you would move up the ranks faster and therefore make more money.

I bet they would train you to do whatever they need done. Keep us updated

yeah, I was going to go over in my vehicle and live in it for a couple weeks, but my tranny blew so I just flew over without a car. I have a relative that works for the same roofing company, so I will be getting a ride with him every day.

I got this roofing job without any experience, cause I feel like im easy to be around, not to toot my own horn, but the restaurant hired me on the spot too, so maybe i'll have a good shot wherever I go oil wise? we'll see :)

AAANNNDD, I stopped by to look at sleds, and it seems theyre about 3.2k cheaper here than seattle for the mountain sleds :). so check out Bismarck for sleds this coming season :)

working at a restaurant and for a roofing company until I get enough under me for the oil fields. there's an oil refinery across the way that is desperate for people so by august i'll apply and see if there lies a better opportunity.

*i work at that oil refinery. You need a degree in process plant tech. at the very minimum. Degree + 2 years experience in a plant setting is what I normally see with new guys around here.

Oh I'm a pro at sleeping in a car :). If im exhausted i hope itll be easier to crash. I'll stop in williston, and if the going gets tough i'll go east.

You can get yourself a nice 26 foot camper with single slide for about 10-14k and it would be perfectly sized for a single person. That way you can tow your "home" if you locate to another area. Hint: Buy camper in late Fall for best deal. Good luck, I think you'll do just fine as long as you don't cave into temptations.
