Low Boost Kits

Just curious if anyone is planning on ordering a low boost kit this year...quite a few options out there.

A ride report would be great once the snow flies.

I am very interested, but more than likely am going to wait until next season. At this point I would probably go with the Ulmers kit, but want to wait until they have it available with the PCV. I know everyone says great things about Alpine and MCX, but there is just not enough information public besides rumors and hearsay that is going to convince me to drop 4-5 grand on something I have only seen a couple pictures of.

Saw the Alpine kit this weekend. Looked like it was ripping good. Never took it for a rip but it looked good.......and sounded awesome!!!!!!!

MCX 180 here

My 180 kit showed up today everything is well made and looks great, will see if I get a start on it this weekend. Going to put it on 09 Nytro .5 km on it now also swaping in a 162 camo extreme. I think it will be a great combo. Here is a scan of the manual cover showing what is in the kit.

SLEDIT where did you buy it from? Any ideas on how much weight is gained/lost with the install?

Bought it from Central sled and cycle in Wetaskiwin AB my sister works for Doo out there. Not sure if they ordered any kits on spec, had this one on order for a couple months. Weight wise should be a wash or may gain a bit, lossing heavy stk muffler, but I will scale it as I go. I better be happy with this sled when done, got out of 07 M1000 had a slp pkg etc. that one handled great treated me good for 3500 miles but time for 4stroke. Now will have way to much $ into this Nytro to move on.

Wishful thinking on weight it adds about 20lbs but made some progress today. Everything fits perfect sofar.

How is the install going thus far. I imagine it is still pretty involved but atleast no head-shim.

Leipheymer charges about $800-1000 to install that kit I believe. Worth saving the extra money? Looks like a quality kit

Hey sledit does the rubber charge tube rub on the valve cover gasket? (looks like a half moon where it would touch) I know that on the 270 hp kit many have had the gasket pushed in and started to leak oil.

Sledit, you'll want an extension on your air intake. The part you'll need is the Napa #7328 radiator hose. You'll also need a 2 1/4 inch exhaust pipe about 4 inches long and two radiator clamps to put it together. I know when I put my 240 kit on the extension wasn't on and when I got into some deep powder it will want to clog thus increasing your A/F ratio, that's not good.

Muffler is all aluminum it's the turbo cast housing etc. that realy weigths up. They send a piece to put against the head where the hose runs for the charge tube, but will check that out close. Will think about that extension for the trips west.

I'd like to know too, as I really want something that makes a impact on power. I don't want to purchase, and then wish I went with the 240. Real ride report would be nice from someone!

They have a Nytro sitting on the floor at Walt Healeys in Calgary with a 180 kit installed on it. Instead of a muffler they have a straight pipe facing forwards under the tunnel with a snow shield on it. All in all it looks like nice kit.

What does the mcx kit do to manage the extra fuel required? it didn't seem like there was a fuel pump in the pics? i know when i bought my impulse kit it came out as a low boost kit , the fuel pump was the limiting factor . Also what can these kits run on 50/50 mix of preimum and race gas

You get that thing together yet, Meat?

I'm gonna have to stop over for a look.

also what are they using to map fuel with ? the bigger mcx kits come with extra injectors that do all the extra fuling i though ?

That is the limit for this kit because of stock fuel system and injectors, if you want more you would have to go 240 kit. Did get the exhaust done the other night then was gone to training for work and other stuff on the go. Hope to make more headway this weekend. Give me a call Beels when ever you want a look. I'm in no hurray they shiped kits without controller's and waiting for 162 hyfax so the skid can go back in. Should make some covers for around the header where it goes through the tunnel guess they collect straw through there when field riding.

And it runs again

Got it fired up no oil leaks etc. still have to put skid in and controler when it shows. Next some snow and clutching, can't wait to go for a rip. Hope I get a chance to get it out before Dec 4 will be getting some wrist surgery then and be out for about a month.
