I just heard on the news here in WA - good luck to the searchers, and prayers to the missing and their family..........

Gods speed on the search. There's still plenty of time for a good outcome. The folks up here in N. Idaho send their thoughts and prayers.

Is this area prone to avalanches?

There was a small crew searching up there all night hoping to maybe see a fire or something. They are out of cell range so haven't heard from them this morning. I think they were prepared not to come back for a day or two so keep all in your prayers.

There is a video clip on kob.com, the local tv station. Good news is they mentioned the national guard putting up helicopters if the weather ever clears. Also mentioned Jason has had survival training and knows the area quite well. My prayers are with them to stay safe and warm until they are found.

let's hear from the guys up there looking!

Here's the Fox article. I can't wait to hear from anyone up on the mountain looking when they are found.

"Six snowmobilers missing in the snowy Colorado mountains called for help Monday and reported they were hungry but alive, authorities said.

Crews were on their way to meet the six, who are all from New Mexico, said Barbara Smith, a spokeswoman for the Conejos County Sheriff's Department.

The snowmobilers called 911 from an isolated and snowbound train station and said they were cold but otherwise all right, Smith said. They had been missing since Friday amid heavy snow in the area.

The snowmobilers had been missing near 10,222-foot Cumbres Pass just north of the Colorado-New Mexico border. The area is about 200 miles south of Denver and 60 miles northwest of Taos, N.M.

The search had been hindered by heavy snow and bad roads. As much as 4 feet of snow fell in the area since Friday, the National Weather Service said.

Smith said they took refuge at Osier Station, a small wooden building that serves as summertime stop on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, a tourist line.

The snowmobilers were Jason Groen, 36, his wife, Shannon, 31, and daughter, Aspen, 14, said Betty Groen, Jason's stepmother. Groen said they were snowmobiling with Mike Martin, one of Groen's employees, his wife, Missy, and their son, Jessie, 13. The families had left on a snowmobile trip Friday morning and expected to be back that evening, Betty Groen said."

That is great news!!! The conditions in SOCO and terrible. Glad to see a happy ending. Too much bad news around here lately.

Great news, I can't imagine what their loved ones were feeeling. It is always good when a bad situation turns out to be a happy one like this.
This makes me want to check all my survival supplies in the pack to make sure I am prepared.

The prayers of this forum were answered!!!!

I just got home from the recovery. All 6 were returned safely to vehicles around 11:00 this morning. CNN was at the sheriff's office this morning being nosey and waiting at the parking area where we left from today once we returned. That may be the only news station you will get truth from.....hopefully. All of our searchers were from Colorado. We are all greatful for the end result of this situation. Thanks to all.

I heard on 9 news that a snowcat took the old railroad route (summer tourism now) up and found them last night at the train station/gift shop hunkered down and waiting.

They did take the cat up last night. They didn't find anything. They were at the train station. Jason was able to get on a hill and catch a break in the weather and make a 911 call this morning. We went in just south of Mogote and basically made them a trail, provided them with food and fuel, and led them out. There were many people in Chama waiting and wanting to help, but the local law was nothing short of a bunch of @$$holes. They were bound and determined to arrest anyone who attempted to go up the pass. Their dot didn't blink an eye at opening the road. Now I see that on 9 news' website some pos sheriff in Chama is blaming Colorado for having closed roads yesterday....... uh yeah, the road was closed....... except for search parties. From everything I've heard, all the locals and businesses in Chama were very supportive though. I just wish everyone would have their facts straight. The cat belongs and was ran by the Durango snowmobile club. They are very brave for heading out last night and I wish the stupid new mexico law enforcment would have been willing to work with them, rather than want to put them in jail. Ok, there's my rant.

You couldnt have said it better colorado matt our DOT might not have the best snow removal skills but when there needed, they are there for us. Good deal everything turned out well.

Lol Matt. That was 9 news story at noon, but I see the facts have changed on the eveining news and with what you said. Seems mis-information always surrounds these affairs.

Yep. I'm gonna sleep so much better tonight knowing that these 6 fellow sledders are safe and sound. Looks like weather might break a bit tomorrow, so I guess it's time to go look for the lost skiers up wolf creek.

WOW my hat's off to all who helped and tried to help. What an impressive turnout.

And what a huge relief to have everyone out and safe.
