Looking at M8 Race Gas Turbo???

Hey, I'm currently riding a M1000 with a can and y-pipe. I love the reliability of the sled but hate watching turbo'd sleds blow past me. I have the opportunity to pick up a M8 with a Boondocker turbo. My questions/dilemma is I'm not mechanically inclined at all and I don't want to spend all day tuning my sled rather than riding it. So in your opinion how reliable are these turbo'd sleds? And how much tweaking on the Boondocker programmer do you have to do? Thanks guys

m8 rgt

I have had one in the past, and the race gas kits definitely need more fine tuning than pgt,if your not that inclined i would go with pgt.IMO.But the rgt is much more fun and exciting, plus MORE power.Good luck.

M-1000 PG Turbo

Why don't you look at boosting your 1000 at Twisted Turbo's they sell a pump gas turbo (available right now) that will out perform most rg m-8s at 6# of boost, and very user friendly meaning easy to tune. They also sell a rg version that allows you to turn down to pg.

That was my original idea. But I've been told by several people that the M8's run better when turbo'd. Any thoughts to this argument as well?

I think the big advantage with the m8t is the detonation sensor. That should be a good warning to save you from a burn-down. I had an m1000 for 3 seasons & had trouble with detonation just running hi compression head & pipe (no turbo). I bought an m8t for this year, so that's clearly my opinion. If I always fueled up at my trailer with race-gas, a m1000 turbo would be fine but I sometimes have to get fuel on the mountain (supposedly 92). My m1000 proved to me that using unpredictable fuel with no det sensor can be expensive.

The 1000 has a grunt power that the 8 dosen't. For sure you need good fuel and hp dictates that. The 1000 kit includes decking the cylinders to lower port timing for a big performance gain and machineing the head to match and drop compression.

If you don't want to "work\tune" on it, go with a PG TM8. You will be very, very happy. Make sure it is at least an 09 though. Like posted above the Det sensor is great for the safety factor.
