I would not go to Surveyor. With 20" of new on top of weeks old snow and WARM temps I would not want to drop off the test hill.

Scott, et al,

We're calling the avalanche danger CONSIDERABLE until the recent and forecasted snow this weekend has a chance to settle out. We received several reports of large slab avalanches throughout the range. Please check out the updated avalanche advisory at http://www.missoulaavalanche.org.

We also posted a few pictures on the photo gallery that were sent in to us this week. The official Missoula Lake avalanche accident report is not yet complete but it will be posted on our website and http://www.avalanche.org in the next few days. There are a few photos of the accident site also on our gallery page. I hope this helps answer some of the questions many of the riders on this thread must have.

This looks like a great last chance to get out and ride decent late season snow for a change. But I urge folks to be extra careful this weekend so as not to make it the final ride of your life.

As always, we appreciate hearing from anyone who has questions or sees avalanche activity in the areas they recreate in. Send your comments or questions to info@missoulaavalanche.org

Finally, our thoughts are with TJ's friends and family during this very difficult time. There is an excellent write up about TJ in the Spokesman Review at this link: http://media.spokesman.com/documents/2010/03/Document1____________.pdf

I read that write-up...that is a very good one.

The media reported highmarking...hopefully that will be set straight and corrected.

I see on those stats at avalanche.org that 19 avys involved activities other than sledding. Sledding avlanches involved had 13 incidents.

STEVE, thank you very much for being a member of SW.

Got a new Droid, pretty cool, but seems like I'm gonna trash it, we'll see.

Anyone cuttin up the fresh stuff?

missoula lake avy

Seen the pictures of the avy that TJ was in. Missoula avalanche posted them on there website. There was 3 frozen and melt layers with the hoar 18 inches below the snow pack. I now how it is to loose someone in a Avy. Happy easter everyone. May all who head out this weekend be safe. I seen alot of sleds heading out on the Highway Saturday. I think I will park mine for the season. Getting to dangerous.

Happy Easter everyone.

Ride safe for the ones still getting out. I too like xrs800pheonix1 am done for the year. Time for me to get the wheelers and camper ready for the summer.

Over the summer I'll have to get my sled running again. Ended the season last ride out with detonation and a broken ring and a messed up cylinder on the pto side. I have everything needed to repair now but decided to call it a year.

Next year I'll have options. Mod sled or Pro Rmk. Yep, snow checked one of the buggers. Thanks Kurts Polaris.

Is it one in the same. lol I was thinking mod sled as in always modifing and never completed but if what you say is true do you have a trialer with a ceiling fan. lol

Next year will put me into 'old school' status. Better keep a close eye on that suspension in the pro, I may end up coiled.
And yes central air in a trailer makes it a modular home.

If the wife had ANY interest at all that would be a good option Hayden but she doesn't care to even know how to spell snowmobile let alone ride one. I keep telling her she doesn't know what she's missing.

This is MRS Westmont. I'm 'pirating' the computer while the Mr is making the Mrs lunch :).....I'll leave the SNOWMOBILING to the big boys, but sure cant wait for the camping & 4-wheeling to begin! BTW, I do know how to spell 'snowmobile'. hahaha.

OOOOPS!!!!

LMAO :face-icon-small-win

ooops is right. lol

mod03, when are you going to be ready for the crusher cone? I'll measure up a few so you have options.

crusher cone???

Better go with the 400, it's the big one, you won't be dissappointed.
However, the 300 I believe has a steeper angle, both are good choices...

Make sure all the backing is knocked off of em. Nice to burn stuff in,,,, not fun to change.:face-icon-small-win

Gettin a 2011 eh Westmont?

Does that mean I can rent the mod if I keep it runnin and all purdy???

Headed to ID here in a week or so, maybe down by the dunes,,, wish I still had the 450.

Need to start stackin up the hours,,,,,,,,,,, daddy needs a new sled........
